any recommended place to change car battery for almera? (i'm assuming the SC will charge higher)
*
I have mine changed once in SC. Suprisingly, wasn't that much expensive compared to outside.. Panasonic... I remember I go ask outside was only about RM30 cheaper.

But since now car no more warranty, I change outside.

Anyone can advise or not whether can skip the aircond service?
*
Better don't skip. Servicing the AC, will clean the cooling coil (so your AC will be cool and smell fresh), add lube to your compressor (so it last longer), clean the AC blower fan (so you get stronger airflow, just like when you clean your house fan, the air blow is stronger) and change the AC filter (so you breath in cleaner air).

Nissan SC does the cleaning by using foam cleaner, so the results is not as good as a total thorough cleaning, but to do that, you will need to remove the whole dashboard and you may end up with kriuk kriuk noise after that.

So do your periodical cleaning to avoid having to remove your dashboard.

So bro, what car do you recommend then ? Thanks.
*
At that time, 2012, none except Almera. VIOS too low rent, City plenty of flaws.

Now, 2016, new VIOS still a NO-NO, City is acceptable as the rear leg room is comparable, perceived quality also not bad, Mazda is a good alternative and frankly speaking many cars are within Almera High Spec price with a small addition of few K. So that makes Almera the worst choice to buy, unless you are looking for a low cost upgrade from Myvi then Almera lowest spec is your choice.

Why?
- Year 2016 and NO electric folding mirrors!
- No folding rear seats for IKEA shopping trip (City have)
- Competitors has catch up on rear leg room. So no more advantage here.
- Lousy tyre size, 185/65R15, frankly can't get you any good tyres.

I just back from SC. Got cooling coil leaking issues too. Suspected. Need to place the car for at least a week for check up.

al_dot_el ,  what do you mean taking a month to fix ? Meaning SC unable to found of the problem before replace the cooling coil ? Or waiting for parts to come ? So you place the car for 3 days to replace right ? Which SC u went for replace ? Mine service at Kota Damansara.

Service today for 50k cost 365.

Labour 46
Engine oil 123
Oil filter 32

I also include optional stuff as below (almost 120 extra)

Engine flush 41
MOS 2 engine treatment 40
Valve clean 38
Fuel injection cleaner 38
Seems like the expensive air cond service I did last service is not helping from cooling coil to fail. So waste of money spent 500 plus for air cond service.

Such a disappointment for this car..need think how to go work without car for at least a week.
*
Yup waited 1 month for the parts. Originally was to wait almost 3 months. I called and complained almost every few days, then only managed to replace. But 1 month is too long for replacement of cooling coil. Imagine that time, was haze time, no AC... drive 30km to work... ranting.gif ranting.gif ranting.gif

Takaful is out of the list since Tan Chong dont accept means if sent to repair must pay cash first then claim back
(troublesome just to save 10% + 15 % cash rebate for no claim )

Guys mind sharing yr claiming experince and give yr choice from the list below which is Tan Chong approved
1)    Axa Affin General Insurance
2)    MSIG Insurance
3)    Berjaya Sompo Insurance
4)    Progressive Insurance
5)    Liberty Insurance (previous known as Uni Asia)
6)    Multi Purpose Generali Insurance
7)    Allianz General Insurance
8)    AM General Insurance (Kurnia)
9)    Lonpac Insurance
10) Tokio Marine Insurance
11) MAA Takaful Insurance (Islamic Insurance)
*
Am using Axa Affin... great service! The approval was fast! Car kena bang from behind, TC repaired and replace less than 3 weeks. 16 days.

Can we use other brand of the below instead of using original Nissan for Almera?

engine oil for 5W40 - 4 litre
oil filter
pan washer
windscreen washer
auto-transmission oil - 4 litre
brake fluid
coolant

Thanks.
*
Engine oil - you can use other brand, as long it is 0W-20
Oil filter - better use original
Pan washer - it's just a nut. You can buy from nissan and change it every few oil change.
windscreen washer - I doubt nissan has a brand for this item. Just buy from outside enough.
ATF - this you have to use Nissan Matic-S. No kidding. Don't change to others.
Brake fluid - Can use other brand. Reputable brand lah coz this is brake. Don play play.
Coolant - Can use compatible brand. Long life type.

Thanks. Have to find the equivalent for the engine oil, atf oil, and other parts. Will ask for spare part shop around here.

KL quite alot of spart part shop carry nissan parts. But not in Penang.
*
I service outside, using parts bought from outside and inside.

Stuff like oil filter, outside got sell Nissan Japan original.

Engine oil, I buy from Nissan. Their 0w-20 is reasonably cheap.

ATF oil change, I go to Nissan. Expensive, but at least they use the proper ATF, Nissan Matic-S.

Others like brake pad, brake oil, I change outside. Brake fluid I use Castrol.

Very good decision thats is why i m also going to follow the same action after finish my 100k warranty .
Maybe outside engine oil is 4liter pack thats why expensive whereelse Nissan sell 1 liter pack .
By the way initially after changing engine oil i did check using the dip and was really worried they never change as the
oil so thin (cair ) but after doing some reading came to know 0w-20 is the thinnest and ftuheermore  they need to use good oil base .
*
You can buy other brand 0W-20 in 1L bottle. Just need 3L. Buy 4L pack is wasting.

You can check out this forum got people selling too. Mobil 1 or AMSOIL.

Hi does anyone know what is the size of the audio player? I am looking for an average bluetooth audio player. Please recommend if you have any suggestion too. Thanks
*
Good thing about Nissan Almera audio, its that it is standard double din size. Just get whatever suits your budget.

If you want to change the speaker, note that you will need to purchase additional bracket. The ori speaker is a piece of sh1t.

Oh i just know abt this. Is there any other sessions? Bcause my wife's almera VL is giving so many problems after 2 years& 50k km mileage.
Chronology since collect the car:
1. Exhaust bracket (rattle). Replaced but not covered warranty.
2. Air con belt rosak. Replaced.
3. Radiator motor rosak. Replaced.
4. Bearing. Replaced.
5. Bush stablilizer bar. Annoying sound over bumps. Replaced.
6. Rattling on dashboard & rear seats.
7. Sluggish uphill, gearbox always upshift early.
8. Engine dies off suddenly when driving 50kmh. Happened 2 times already & SC cant detect problem, they just reset ecu. Next time have to check engine wire harness.

I cant remember how many productive days i have lost for sending & leaving car in SC (yes.. for up to a week!).
*
Agreed with you. Almera is extremely problematic!

Wonder if this is Tan Chong fault or Nissan fault. But most of those faulty part, is under Tan Chong purview, since as a local partner, they are entrusted to choose local parts.

Also, most of Tan Chong SC is really useless, just know how to push away responsibilities, and insist customer on paying for replacement parts (favorite phrase, wear and tear not covered). How does exhaust bracket considered wear and tear?! rclxub.gif

i dun like the Almera 2016 DRL as it dont have option to turn off.

Almera quite problematic with a lot unknown sound and they not able to fix it. The only thing i like is space. Anyone know if the power outlet can be modify to clip based or extra power outlet?
*
Agreed Almera quite problematic.

- Fan motor problem (some say it's the fan bearing)
- Compressor very fast spoil
- Wheel bearing super fast spoil mad.gif
- Disc wears out very fast
- Substandard absorber (Latio was wayy better)

But luckily I didn't kena the unknown sound problem.

Same here i dont see any problem so far with my car, 35k km... still ok. Maintainence, just be smart and insist to remove everthing that is not in the minimum maintancence list. The Service consultant will always advise you to add stuff, claim will be better and some cases threaten warranty void.
Fuel consumption is generally very good on highways and if you are light footed. if you stuck in the city jam, well my guess is to get a smaller car with smaller engine. With daily drive and 10% jam i get about 6.8l/100km.
I got the almera because it was low tech and big seats. and the bonus of low tech car is you pay less.
*
Maintenance is cheap while under warranty. Once your warranty expired, and things start to breakdown, be prepared for huge repair bill.

But it is not the bill that irks me, what irks me the most, is having to waste time to go for repairs... If I love to go to workshop that much I would have bought a Peugeot!!

it sure is. 999 I can get a pretty good camera with both front and back camera d. this is really a rip off. summore dunno what brand is this and how is the quality. and free 16GB memory card?!
*
Tan Chong TCAT stuff is highly overpriced. Bought my Almera with their add-ons AV system with navigator. Total piece of shit.

Sound quality buruk macam reban ayam.
GPS sometimes hang.
GPS sometimes take super long time to lock on signal. Sometimes reach destination also haven't lock signal yet.
Screen glare, noon time can't see anything on the screen.

Nope to this camera as well. RM999 plenty of great choice out there. Also this is not engineered by TCAT, just a rebranded stuff.

How to know if the motor fan spoilt?
*
A few symptoms, you may faced with either one or all of the below

1) Unusually loud fan noise.
2) Go to quiet place. Wind down your window. Stop the engine. You may hear a faint noise just when the engine shut down. That could be the noise of the fan vibrating as it spin down. I kena this. TC replaced the fan motor under warranty.
3) Fan not running

When i off the engine I can hear the sound of sth spinning and getting slower.. I guess it's normal? N may i knw what's the motor fan for? How I knw it's not running?
*
That sound of something spinning and getting slower is what I hear too... so I go to SC to check and they say its the fan motor. It's actually the fan motor bearing that is faulty, so it make sound when spinning.

This is the radiator fan motor. Idle your car and after a while you should hear a 'tack' sound before the fan running. It would be on and off depending on the temperature.
