Hun : They got for display is it ? I didnt know coz never go to sunway lagoon. laugh.gif

Turtle needs water and lives either in the sea or rivers. Tortoise doesnt need water that much and they lives on the land.

Any idea, what the current market for star tortoise?
*
Its around rm68-rm250 depending on the size.

QUOTE(LEVIATHAN @ Dec 9 2006, 12:04 PM)
from what i understand, we can say...

aquatic - always in water. very seldom on land. example marine turtle, green sea turtle, fly river turtle, RES, painted, common map, eastern mud, matamata, side necked and blax3

semi aquatic - most of the time in water, but go up to land to bask, breed and feed. they usually shit and piss in water. contoh, spotted, malayan box, pond and so on.

semi terrestrial - most of the time on land, but sometime soak themselves in water. to breed, sometime to feed, to escape from predator. shit & piss on land.

terrestrial - always on land. water just for drink and humidity. CANT swim.

ethereal - sometimes seen flying, floating on cloud 9. after u dead, surely u can have this type of turtle. oh they cant be repaired.

my 8 RES getting bigger! in july, i bought them. 50 cent size. now their carapace length almost 3 inches. but only half yang develop. 4 lagi stunned. tak membesar sampai sekarang. aih...

*
Good one Leviathan. About the RES, what i can say is u need to give a bigger tank or separate them. This is because the other 4 were outnumbered by the other 4 while eating and that's why they are not growing. I suspect tank too small or the other 4 is just too aggressive while eating.

They are recorded to have a lifespan of around 20-30 years. If good care and a healthy diet they can live up to 40 years. Normally they ended being a roadkill and some use them for medication. Sad case..

wow... those small small tortoise tat cost rm8 also can live so long? haha... anyone know the market price for small star toirtoise now? plan to get 1 if its in my budget...
*
Yeah, they do live quite long. Small star tortoise are not recomendded because they are prone to fall sick easily and some may die. Its better to get those which size is above 3 inches. At that size, they retails for around rm150 to rm200 depending on the shop.

QUOTE(LEVIATHAN @ Dec 13 2006, 07:57 PM)
from my prev post, a shop in ipoh offer me baby star for rm80 something. adult male rm800. adult female rm1500. so i assume the price is somewhat tha same around the globe. har har. if u want cheap2, go to india. sri lanka. star mainly from there if im not mistaken.

im going to have myself 2 star this new year. my year 2007 pet azam will be

1. upgrade my res tank from 2 ft to 3 ft plus a canister filter.
2. buy 2 baby star plus the enclosure setup.

biggrin.gif

*
Woah, quite expensive. Here, only the females that are expensive. Male would cost around rm600 max and female can fetch a higher price for the same size. How big is your star tortoise ?
