anything can be done to stop very loud steering vibration sound after ac fan kicks in. when recording the sound, it sound like road driller. if i put hand and hold it strong on the steering , the sound disappear. this only happen when idle
*
What is the rpm when aircond kicks in? probably the idle rpm when ac on is too low. Happened to me before. adjusted the idling and now the vibration is minimal.

hi bro. my usual mechanic inspected the car and confirm the engine mounting is the culprit. nvr changed for 14yrs.  the shake was abit high as the intake filter was shaking so much when the ac turned on. idle is 900 or 1k rpm . dashboard does not rattle. but the steering is shaking like the sound i attached and other part in engine bay.
*
Ok. Seems yours is different case than mine. Initially I suspect engine mounting also, but after changing it, steering still shaking. Later, I realized the rpm during ac on is too low (400-600). sweat.gif

Hi guys.

My car is proton saga 1st gen transplanted with 12v engine and original 8v carb. Ihave some issues with my car. First thing is that it was unable to start. I already checked the battery (voltage was 12.31v before crank and 12.11v when cranking), checked the cable connection, checked the starter relay, even try to bypass the relay using jumper, knocked the starter with spanner also unable to start it. Before it happen, car can start but the starter does not sound very loud, just barely enough to crank the engine. I can only start the car by pushing it (luckily it was a manual car). Immediately after running for a while, after ignition off, I tried to immediately start the car again but no cranking sound was heard. So we can rule out battery issue. Is the starter dying?

One more issue that I faced is that when I reached >4k rpm, the rpm will shoot to higher rpm very fast as if the clutch was slipping. Is it really clutch issue? I first noticed this issue after oil change.

Thanks in advance.

how come 12.11v only ? after crank shud be 14.0. under heavy load, aircond, headlight, amp/wooofer, mine was 12.5v. could be distributor problem ?
*
12.11v is during cranking. Last time I checked, after cranking is around 13.8v.

Did you set ac to circulate mode? Also, check your engine for any oil leaks which might drop on the hot exhaust line (underneath engine).

Hi guys. Where can I find a brand new 4G13 8v Aisan original carburetor and complete wiring harness? I have issue with the wiring under the dashboard getting warm when aircond fan is on. I also believe the wiring is goig expired already (Coopper wire hardened and getting oxidized after 30 years)

1. New Carb
If you google for 4g13 carburetor you get aftermarket ones
usually from China. Looks like original Aisan is no longer
available.

2. Air-cond wiring.
In my experience, the overheating is at the on-off switch located
at the instrument panel hood. I gone through maybe 5 or 6 switches
and I finally solved (I hope) by DIY soldering. The wiring seems ok.
*
Can detail out the DIY soldering part for the aircond switch? As I go to wiring shop, they say need to pull new wire from battery directly and add relay to minimize the cable overheating issue.
Thanks

Hi guys. I plan to restore my saga 8v to its former glory aesthetically. Where can I find all the original parts particularly the tail lamp and all the interior plastic trim. Mine cracked and became brittle already. Also the front logo. I bought and installed one 2 years ago but now it had yellowed.

Do you still use the stock Sydney Blaupunkt radio? That speaker system beats many low end stock music system today. Like those in Myvi, Saga BLM all sounds pretty lousy.
*
After 30 years, the extreme temperature destroyed the speaker's diaphragm. The radio is currently an aftermarket one but I already found the blaupunkt cassette radio albeit with slightly different design (channel search button is a single combine unit instead of a separate one). Now need to find adapter to connect it.

Is it difficult to take out this part? Planning to spray paint it because of the rust on certain part.

In my case not that difficult. First you need to open the hood then unbolt the wiper. Then close the hood and position the wiper upright. Need to wiggle a bit to remove it. Then unscrew some screws and unlatch the clip alongside the front rubber.

Hi all, I would like to know what is the best suspension setup for saga. One that can give better comfort and improved handling. Currently using greber.

The Greber that you installed: what is the advantage
it is supposed to provide compared with stock components?

Some pointers about suspension mods :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_JlpS_QDgM

Usually it is said that stiff suspension gives better handling
and soft suspension is for comfort and that our cars'
suspension is a compromise between the two as we cannot
have both together.

Then  I watched this video :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGZRairqHNI
which says that stiff suspensions may even result
is less handling performance! I went through his
logic and calculations and found that they are correct.
*
The greber was installed by the previous owner. Now when carrying full load, the rear will significantly lowered. Also, when I closed the door, I can see the car rocking back and forth. My goal for suspension change is mainly for better comfort with somewhat an improved handling for city driving. After googling, most were recommending Monroe sensatrac but I can no longer find this brand.
