Bro, I had the same situation as you, my phone bill is covered by company, currently my plan is talk more 48 + 99 (unlimited data plan, currently capped at 10GB), I can't sign any plan as 99 already legacy plan. Was dilemma should I sign plan to get the phone or remain current plan and get the phone from App Store. Any advice?

Here's my take on it...
I was on iValue1 for last 3 years...
I know i never utilise the quota given (the voice/sms thing), more or less may be up to 30min call a month(excluding family line), almost 0 sms (with IM around, will u?)
so i m paying 100++ for the 2GB technically...
i don chg phone when new gen release...but rather on my 2-3yr refresh...
so when put that against the Surfmore50 vs iValue1
by end of 2nd year i pay less for the TCO with SurfMore than iValue...
and since Maxis give a shit on pre-order...just jump for Apple Store...
got the device within 5 days, 2nd day walk to a maxis outlet and chg sim...kaotim...
n now my bill is on the 50++ 1...yet to see how much it will become...but for sure not 100++  tongue.gif

Just cause you don't use the phone much. Doesn't mean the rest are like you smile.gif

I easily finish up my 1000 minutes on my I value 2 plan. The data is always utilized to the max too. Tethering while out and about eats data

I would say go for the phone in Apple store. In the long run, you are actually paying lesser.

I actually had the issue a couple of years ago. In the end I just decided to switch over as I was watching my actual data usage and it never passed 2Gb of data hence I went for the iValue 2 Plan two years back. Now the iValue 2 plan gives 4Gb of data and I did regret not switching over to iValue 1 instead.

I remember Maxis mentioning that there is a cap even with the unlimited plan, so make sure that you get all of that clarified.

But since you mentioned that your company covers it, does it have a cap? For example in mine, the cap is RM300 and it covers only the monthly bills. I got friends whose company also covers the phone (if you sign it up on the 0% interest payment and get them to charge it to the monthly bill).

the unlimited plan currently capped at 10GB per month, i used up 4-5GB per month and i didn't call much actually.. what i want is Data more only~~ so far the 99 is kinda worth for me actually.
my company doesn't have a capped, i did use your friend method few years back for iPhone 5.. tongue.gif

The calculations are simple. No matter how you put it, getting a phone from Telco is confirmed going to be cheaper as they subsidize your purchase in return for your commitment or Contract to the Telco's line. The idea is that since you will be using the data and call packages, might as well commit to them and get your phone at a cheaper price.

On the other hand, some people do not wish to be tied up to Telco contracts as you would not be able to port out to another Telco if you are unhappy with their services and packages. While you still have the option to terminate your existing contract with the said telco, you will have to pay heavy penalties to get out your contract. Do bear in mind, not only you cant terminate your contract earlier, you cannot even "downgrade" your plans. Let say you are on a rm 100/month comittment plan, you can go to a cheaper plan. Some telcos are smart in signing you up for a 2 year old plan and for me, that would be too long.
So choose wisely, based on your needs and requirements and select the best deal there is for your ownself.

I think it is the best for you to keep your current plan. Its much more worth it than the new plan being offer now. Previously I was using biz99 but it was an additional line being subscribed for internet usage only thats why I cancel it off. Feel so regret now for not keeping it

Maxis separate consumer and corporate stock. And they put priority for consumer stock first. Unless you are lucky who happened to my friend got it within 5 days for corporate

Corporate accounts will get the phone at a further discount of around RM300-RM400 per phone. But due to lack of stock shortage, they haven't really pushed it out yet.

Actually for Corporate they only offer MaxisOne Business Extra RM148 - 2GB and RM188 - 4GB. And it is more expensive if you do not need limitless calls and SMS.

I took RM188 vs iValue 2 RM155 which provide 4GB as well for i6 64gb

Provided all Device Advance Payment all waived. RM188 phone cost RM1499 while iValue 2 RM1559. Both 24 months contract. Long term wise, you are paying additional RM692 if you take RM188.

Unless you can get additional device subsidy by signing up more lines but in the end your company is paying more.
