polarbearz any idea about using margin via IB? Once I hit USD200k I think no harm with margin of USD20k. Any idea how to apply to cap margin at only USD20k?

Wah margin already lol. Congrats on the milestone. biggrin.gif

Careful later you get margin calls during downturns...

Why so sure on ARK above other etf? Saw many utubers made video on it as one of the best performing ETF

Cause I have been in tech since 2015 and tech have always give the best returns. Not to mention ark is the new form of tech. Disrupting tech vs old tech. So you thinkn?

any thoughts on ONLN as a proxy for AMZN?

The single unit of AMZN at 3000USD is kinda pricey and makes me sweat three buckets before pulling the trigger. Take into account my portfolio is only around 5k USD at the moment. I still want to buy ARKK, CXSE, AAPL as part of my DCA portfolio...
*
You can buy other stuff than amzn. Shopify, SEA, scottish mortgage trust

That's why I am planning to limit it to only 10% of my portfolio and it's going to involve ETFs only. No prize for guessing which ETF I am going to pick. biggrin.gif Interest only 1.5%p.a I got this idea after doing some research. All the successful people borrow money to get to where they are and that include Warren Buffet.

QQQ has around 10% of Apple and 10% of Amazon.
You can combine that with other ETFs.

thanks will take a look but I'm mostly interested in AMZN for their peripheral services, not so much just directly shopping. Of course the irony is the ETF ONLN is about online shopping.
Scottish mortgage trust is 1unit 1240GBP? Isnt that exceeding 1 unit of AMZN though unsure.gif

No. UK market is priced in penny. So 1 unit is essentially GBP12.4

Aah...its a shame, I can't buy LSE shares from via Etrade. I'm supposed to have a TD Ameritrade account in process, but its not yet open, who knows Jeff Bezo's already pass away by the time its open.

You tagged wrong bear tongue.gif just saw this message by chance.

I didn't research into margins yet as I'm still uncomfortable with it so my IB is just pure cash account. Hassle but peace of mind tongue.gif

None. Pick the most bang for buck etf. You want your money to be working hard for you.

For that I only recommend Ark funds.
No need to know about other etf. Just buy ark etf enough.

How to buy ark funds? Is it possible to buy thru stashaway?

You should do your own research into these funds.

Buying into something just because someone recommends it puts you in a vulnerable situation; especially when the person giving the recommendation has no knowledge of your personal financial situation, goals, and risk tolerance.

Nope. Stashaway is a robot and does not buy ark etf. You want to buy you have to buy yourself. No other way.

How to buy?
1. Open sg bank account
2. Open tradestation international
3. Fund your brokerage
4. You are ready to buy

Indeed. Ramjade's point is just for reference. You need to know your risk profile well. He is taking more risk than others now, going into margin some more. laugh.gif

Decent blue chips with low volatility like S-Banks or S-REITs (their indices as well) or just S&P 500 give you good risk-adjusted returns too.

Only you know your expectations well. Others can only provide advice at the side.

Hi, interested in setting up a US Stock trading account.
From what i read here, seems like TDAA is the good bet but wire transfers appear to be expensive.

Is Interactive Brokers still an option for say around $5k deposit? Do they still have that min $10k requirement? Right now they appear to be attractive since theres that TransferWise option to move money around.

Use whitelabels of IB if you have no money.
Whitelabels of IB basically get around paying the USD 10/month fees but it increase your commision from USD0.35->USD1.50
