1) It depends on what area you want it to be better. If gaming wise, Z5 will be better cause it is using gtx960m/gtx970m

2) Yes, definitely. Z5 built quality is solid.

3) The "heat issue" mentioned in the last few post is regarding SSD. It may be the place they install the SSD is nearer to the HDD so the heat is "spread-ed" to the SSD. No real reason found yet.

4) If you're not selling your GS70, you can reuse back your RAM, 128GB SSD + 750HDD. It will save up approximately RM400. But you need to make sure your RAM and SSD + HDD is suitable for the Z5 casing. With 5k budget, I highly recommend get gtx970m variant. If you reuse back your RAM, SSD and HDD from your GS70, you can get it < RM5000 which is very worth it. You can get a retailed version of Windows OS so next time you can reuse back your OS in different machine.

P.S: You can pm Prince J to ask whether your GS70 parts is compatible with Z5 or not. May can ask them to do it for you with some service charge.

The USB port is a normal 2.0 USB port. You can use it like conventional USB port. The reason of the charging logo is because you can charge your phone even your laptop is in Sleep mode. (Shut down and Hibernation doesn't work for me, so if it should, then my USB port got problem already )

There is a kensington lock located at right hand side, above the USB 3.0 port.


P.S: Prince J can you confirm it with us ? Shut down or Hibernating the laptop, will it still charge the phone if it is plugged in the USB 2.0 port ?

To be frank, for normal user it is not that useful. But when you're playing cpu intense game like BF4 64man map it will be useful. Most user don't utilize 100% of their cpu. But if you're doing rendering work, it will be very useful.

When I plan to play games > 2 hours I will switch on the max fan speed. I find it okay tho. If the fan is damaged (touchwood) just get a replacement, fan is not that expensive. The only issue you should be considering is constant using of max fan will result in more dust in your fan and heatsink. So need more frequent cleaning of dust

I will top up RM300 more to get Z5 gtx970m variant. (well excluding OS)
Either top up to get gtx970m or lower down to gtx960m. Gtx965m is not worth the price IMO.
The worse part of ILLEGEAR is their laptop doesn't come with OS by default, so it may be the reason which turn you down. But you need to take into account of their top notch services which is almost on par with Dell.
MSI GE62 is fine, BUT PLEASE DON'T GET MSI GE60 series. MSI GE60 is well known for its heat issue, be it refreshed model or not.

Since you already buy it then no point to discuss more. Hope you enjoy your machine

GE62 cooling is very decent. Not like GE60.

If you want other choice you can have a look into Y50 (storm88 mentioned the new display is still bad), if you're okay with the display, it is the best bang of buck now. Or Asus G501JW if you got the $ and looking for slim laptop. Cooling wise is still unknown cause no user yet.
MSI GE62 is also a good choice, but the price may not be so attractive compared to others. Z5 is also very good, only if OS is not an issue for you. A lot people turn down Z5 because they don't want to buck up for OS

P.S: Take note of after sales service, and warranty coverage also

Yea true. These range of laptop is more suited to people with some technical knowledge since the people who bought customizable laptop probably know what they want.
But sadly a lot of consumer failed to get this, and blamed the manufacturer for not including OS lol

You know what ? I'm still waiting for the sales to get GTA V. Too poor to get it now Good to know, try don't use AA or SMAA, it should raise your fps to 50+.

I think what he meant is a software which have more control/settings to play with instead of the default limited windows sound settings. Like utilizing the sub woofer, bass level etc etc. That sort of thing.

How much fps you get when you're lagging ? Either the game is not optimized or your gpu/cpu is throttling.
We need more information to help you up..
What is the resolution you're playing ?

Try to play in fullscreen rather than windowed borderless. I don't know why but when I'm playing COD AW or BF4 in borderless window mode, my fps drop by few points, 5-10 fps drop.

Few options:
1) Get an external CD/DVD drive. It should be around RM50-200 depends on which type you bought it. Forget about Bluray read/write drive, it is too expensive.
2) Get the file into an external HDD or pendrive. Install it via the external HDD.

Games shouldn't be a problem cause nowadays most people purchase digital copy, seldom people are using CD/DVD already. Same goes to Microsoft Office or similar software. Most of the people are using digital copy already.
So if you got a slow internet speed, you need to endure the slow download time then.

Cause IIRC the only gtx965m laptop is MSI GE62. Z5 I haven't heard of that variant yet. IMHO, either stick to budget gpu gtx960m, or buck up to RM5k+ to get gtx970m. Don't stay in the middle.

About the audio, not sure though.
For the optical drive and CD/DVD, the got no choice to give you CD/DVD for the driver installation even though Z5 doesn't have a optical drive. Or you want them to give you just a link so you need to go download everything 1 by 1 ? A lot of ultrabook is also giving out CD/DVD for drivers also.
They expect us to have external optical drive.

This is.. also the first time I heard of wireless display.. Normally I think display port/vga can output to 3 monitor right ? with external adapter.

Yea. I suggested to them before. Maybe they need more man power and resources to handle that thing. Cause you need man power to update those driver to latest version, you need resources and time to create those pages also. Not to mention every model got different drivers, so need a lot of time to do it. Lets hope that day come soon.
This is a very crucial part in laptop IMO, all manufacturer is having a site for driver & support but currently not in ILLEGEAR.

I see no reason for ILLEGEAR to have their wallpaper for their laptop. Even Dell or Lenovo doesn't provide exclusive wallpaper to their laptop. But having it is a plus tho
