No use. Tweaking kernel for that feature results in battery draining.
They also need to have the hardware to do so.
*
Some how you are right.
I knew about this when I was using Galaxy S2.
To detect the screen activity, you will need to have a permanent wake lock. Else the screen won't detect the touch.
But I am not so sure about are we having something like "new method" appear in Z1. Haha...

Anyway, we need to unlocked the bootloader to install custom kernel.

From my experience it drain that much.Maybe like 3-4% only difference from using and not using it.Well worth it considering I sleep&wake my phone many time.

Im not sure if it needed any other hardware though. What hardware it need?

Im not sure how the kernel developer done it but it can go to deep sleep. You can also adjust which part of the screen that response to double tap to wake rather than the whole screen. Which will reduce battery drain also. Can also set it to only wake up only when you pick up the phone like HTC One M8&M9.

The hardware requires a digitizer with screen off gestures. Z1 can enable it with software while Z1 compact can't due to lack of such digitizer.

yup. i too notice the volume for ringtone and notification is softer now
initially after i did the factory reset, i too feel that my battery life have got better. no more sudden shut down due to battery empty. but after maybe 2 days using, the problem came back i think. will need longer time to monitor.

but anyway, i can really feel my battery bulging, so i may send for battery replacement these few days

Hi, have you send your phone for battery replacement? If yes, can you share the price and duration for the service center to change the battery? Thank.

Anyone know what's going on with my phone?

It won't turn on. But when I attach a charger, the blue led comes up.

And can you turn it on?
if can, means the battery is at its stake.

No I can't. The phone vibrate for three times when I try to reset via Power + Volume up.

Previously the Phone did came alive for awhile with Sony Logo and then a loading screen then it just went dead from there.

Not sure what happened. maybe you can try to flash a firmware file and see if it's working.
take note data will be wiped as well.

When I try to connect to computer the device manager doesn't recognize the device. I can see the exclamation mark with the word "S1 Fastboot" there. Tried downloading some usb drivers but it just writes installation failed.

Is my phone hard bricked?

What I mean is try flash a firmware and see if it works. Download flash tool and see if your device is listed in flash tool when connected to PC.

I guess the flash memory in the phone is damaged. You have to send to service center. sweat.gif

I manage to flash it to generic firmware obtained from XDA just now and Flashtool did say flashing is finished. However, it's the same symptom again. rclxub.gif

Anyone ever lost the tiny metallic ring around the "start button" ?
Where can I replace it?

Just noticed it when the feeling of the button feels different out of the sudden. Then I noticed that it is not there anymore.

Worried that it might affect the waterproof ability of the phone
