as for waterproofing, once open the unit for repairs, no more waterproof, simple as that, even Sony SC

imo. if you want waterproof back. sell off your unit. get Z3

or Z2 since its a bargain now

My uncle's Z1 was sent for repair at Sony SC and they tested for waterproofing before returning to him.

So they say..

in another thread, the waterproof phone (Z2) was repaired due to water leak into the phone, the owner went back and test it in water, and the phone spoilt again and went for warranty again.

Putting handphones into water is just asking for trouble, it may be waterproof today, one day the seals may fail and bye bye phone.

btw. this has not been mentioned elsewhere..

if there is a leak, and it doesnt affect the main components (ie.. the battery and the power ic) yet you still can use like normal. it doesnt means that rust wont set in and damage the board in the future.

just my opinion. Sony has ald acknowledge the failure of the flaps and are doing away with it on the Z4

Z2 is different. It's more like an experimental product by sony. So no matter how many times you repair, if your unit is defective at start, it's defective at all.
Just my opinion.

eh, z1 can record 4k vid?
i thought its a hardware related thumbup.gif
and what is timeshift?

and btw, quite scary reading the chain reaction from water proofing failed.
my phone dropped 3 times 4ft to the floor, after a years with me, just minor scratch, no dent to aluminium frame. really strong yo.

and so far waterproofing working fine

hi hi
just want to add, slightly after one year with my Z1 and loving it.

on Nov 1st i brought my Z1 to Viper Challenge, it was dip with mud and pool of muddy water a few times even it is stored on a pouch on my shoulder. took it out and wash it in the lake and that i think was one of the best "indirect" advertisement for Xperia waterproof phones.

as i took it out near a lake and wash it in water because it was covered with mud stains from the mud pools, lines of people were looking as i wash the phone with ohmy.gif blink.gif and then i cleared away the stains, swing it a bit to get the water drops off the phone as much as possible and use it to take picture. i heard an exclaimation "ohh thats an xperia" from somewhere... hahaha...

i claim to customers, you will never know when water seeps into your device when it rains. go on and claim its gimmick, you will realize the use one day.

not like sammy, 2K screen which is totally a gimmick that no one's gonna use. doh.gif

well, 2k screen may still be consider gimmick this year. in fact i think not much apps really take advantage of the extra pixel

however, come next year, if all the rumour turn out to be true, 2k screen will become a "standard" for most, if not all, flagship model (whether u like it or not). hopefully by then there will be more apps that really take advantage of the extra pixels
