yeah time flies :/ well qx6800 is really old now; but it's still good for many purposes.

skylake i7 is nice based on reviews. just hope it can bring the ram price down further so that we can grab 128gb ddr4 lol!

Judging from your desktop, I don't see u have any upgrades to done on CPU for the next few years.

It won't be cheap since MYR depreciated a lot. And DDR4 SODIMM won't be cheap. sweat.gif

There are rumors saying that laptop manufacturers are preparing themselves for upcoming new nvidia gpu which is equivalent to desktop 980 (said to have similar performance as 980m sli)

For Asus, g-series with the dock might be it i think.
*
That's rumors of GTX 990M has been going on for months though...

For this time, gaming laptop is getting heated up, with Asus G752, Acer Predator, and many more.

right i think they are the same news.

i use 980 sli in one machine. they're hot. (to be fair, h440 is quiet but has bad air flow. if you wanted good air flow, take out front and top covers, but you hear loud fan noise. susah :/) if that 980 is inside a laptop, there must be some external stuff that help handle proper heat dissipation.

haha, my problem with my desktop is the LED activity on top of the crucial ballistix tracer ddr2 ram. Too Flashy to leave it on overnight. sweat.gif

hi I wanna ask why is the market price for second hand g751jy being so low at 3k while a new unit still cost 8k? is there anything wrong with the unit making the price to depreciate so fast?

if you upgrade your RAM and SSD will it void the warranty;
just bought ASUS ROG GL552 - only 4G RAM need to upgrade ASAP...

No it won't, since GL552 maintenance hatch doesn't touches the vital areas.

ahhh icic. i saw the manual already, the top just comes off like that haha. looks simple enough.

so do u recommend this laptop for its price and performance?
i couldnt find anymore decent laptops in this price range alrdy.

lenovo y50 is 3.8k
acer is built worst
msi has fan issues..

also the original hdd that comes with it is a 7.2k spinner right?
do u think its acceptable to go back to it because im coming from a ssd.. but i feel like if i add ssd onto this laptop, there's too much empty space haha.

besides all i do is just dota and probably will download some heavy games to play for a bit~
*
Not sure if I'm recommending it right, for its looks and performance and on top of that, there's the m.2 pcie ssd support, it should be fine, but the GPU performance is the let down whereby Dell 7447 have i5 with gtx 850m 4gb ddr3 against Asus with i7 and GTX 950M 2GB DDR3, tough call... but i would lean towards 7447 since the performance gap between gtx 850m and gtx 950m aren't big. sweat.gif

However, I did some look up with addition few hundred ringgit from GL552, you could get G551JM with gtx 860M still around that price but it would be around the same price range as Y50.

Hard disk provided is 5400 rpm usually. wink.gif

GL552JX has common screen flicker issue, iinm its related to screen brightness. You should be able to google a lot of common questions posted. sweat.gif

Thinking of buying a GL552JX for graphic work but not sure if Asus has updated their panels for this unit already.

Can anyone who recently bought one locally help check what screen panel brand / model your unit is using?
*
Not sure, I can't tell the flicker on demo set displayed @ shop. But there's a new Dell Inspiron 7559 which offers better value for performance over Asus, that you might want to check it out.

If not what us the latest model?

still consider as recent model, but most recent would be GL552VW with Intel Skylake 6th Gen i5/i7.

Hi guys,

i just recently bought back a G750JZ and would like to know what ram is suitable to upgrade it?

thank you
*
Check with CPU-Z or HWInfo. Both are 3rd party apps and Most of it are using DDR3L the 1.35V edition instead of 1.5v SODIMM RAM.

There's good news and bad at the same time.
Good news is GL552VW price reduced from RM4399 to RM3699? where the specs remains the same. Edit: Possibly price typo there. cry.gif
Bad news is the Additional RM 500 hike is merely for the sake of Mobile Skylake processor difference compare to 4th Gen i7 and DDR4. sweat.gif
