QUOTE(LinuxSphere @ Dec 15 2015, 11:34 PM) Yeah, most probably it's a typo. See page 3 & 23, it stated there RM 4399. If you see here and here, you can see that the same model are being sold, G751JT-T7050, which if I'm not mistaken, the version without GSYNC. I don't know, maybe sifus who owned this model can help. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that during that time, there was already a price hike of about RM 600. And now, another hike of RM 500, only this time it's a newer model, 6th Gen, DDR4 and last but not least, IPS with GSYNC, hopefully. P/S: Oh, and USB type C Thunderbolt 3~~ usb type C still not common standard yet.. and for worse price hike, you should check out Apple, they increase Macbook price like rm900 at least?

QUOTE(LinuxSphere @ Dec 17 2015, 02:43 PM) Yes, it is still not a common standard, but really is a nice feature to have. There will be converter from usb type C to type A, but you will never get the power input/output of type C. So at least your future phone(that uses type C connector) might benefit from the type C your G752 has. by the time your phone is adopting the usb type C, your laptop is less gaming capable given that future gaming laptop will be able to play high settings for the first 2 years then subsequent mid-high settings.

QUOTE(Speedodevo @ Dec 29 2015, 04:56 PM) Sup yo, my GL552JX come with 1TB HDD. Plan is, to change to 256gb SSD for OS and 1TB HDD 7.2k rpm for normal use/file. Is it possible? How do i clone my OS from HDD to new SSD later? 2 ways to do: Expensive : Buy a 256GB pcie ssd, and keep the 1TB. Cheaper : Buy a 256GB 2.5" SSD, and a ODD caddy put in hard disk, replace the ODD with the ODD Caddy.

QUOTE(Djkarut @ Jan 2 2016, 07:13 AM) Damn it , i got 100% disk usage after upgrading from windows 8.1 to windows 10 .. if i install a non-genuine copy of windows 8 will it void my warranty ? then your license could've been converted to windows 10 official license. AFAIK, Win 8 onwards, license key is embedded in the bios setting.

QUOTE(alip_11 @ Jan 6 2016, 10:37 AM) bought far cry 4 game on steam but it is totally unplayabe with my g53sw. even set to low for all setting still lag. haihzz Mobile GPU =/= Desktop GPU until Nvidia GTX 980M made it appearance. And also Far Cry 4 Minimum Requirement requires GTX 460 or HD5850. GTX 560M performance is somewhere around HD4850 GPU which explains why you're totally unplayable. QUOTE(horns @ Jan 13 2016, 09:49 PM) yeah; bent desktop cpu issue due to 'over weighted air cooler' and now this sigh they are trying not to have that oh. well, at least there is a confirmed announcement from intel, just ignore speculative news about certain features might get disabled in order to fix it (it was said it happened before). i guess it will not be that bad. I'm not sure the bend affects non soldered CPU on laptop. We'll never know if it was from the heat or tight mounting that caused it the PCB to bent as well instead of so called "overweight" cooler excuse.

QUOTE(horns @ Jan 14 2016, 06:41 PM) i was talking about news related to skylake in general. i don't think bending issue affects laptop cpus. just hope everything is fine again after the bios fix. we'll never know if it actually happens on laptop.

QUOTE(horns @ Jan 15 2016, 07:34 PM) right; so just hope for the best. i actually planned to have a little taste of skylake at later time. of all components, cpu is more important to me than gpu. btw msi has started to roll out bios fix for their desktop mobos. let's wait and see if the fix impacts anything. We'll see about that, hopefully it doesn't impact other Intels softwares. (Touchwood)

Using three usb video adapter. Problem is I can't open Nvidia control panel. It no respond at all. Anyone can advise me any topic have discuss this. I don't think GTX 560M is able to support triple monitor, dual is yes, but one is definitely the laptop screen. Mind to describe more with the usb video adapter?

QUOTE(horns @ Feb 19 2016, 11:21 AM) gx700 imo is the only laptop with such a nice cooling system (at first glance; not considering maintenance parts, like coolant, cleanup, etc. yet). however you might also need to consider changing your table. again, personally i buy laptops because of portability with the sacrifice of the flexibility for future part upgrades, and at the same time, hopefully i can get a decent cpu/gpu performance that i can bring to anywhere without hassles (for cpu, all my aw's are running at at least 4ghz for work purposes) if i need beyond that, portability will be limited. yeah the price tag is kind of too much. with 19k, i rather build a desktop power house, and brings back the flexibility to swap parts when time comes. edit: i forgot to say this - it's a damn good idea to include a water cooling system in a box for laptops, and i'm glad asus makes this work. if they can include longer tubes, it will be much better, because you can put the cooler else where. That's a darn sleek command case for the laptop and cooling, even custom might be shock to see, this big case just to house a laptop and cooling? we might see people customising a desk to fit the cooling on top of it and just dock your laptop and it will runs in waters cooling mode.

QUOTE(wiki47 @ Mar 8 2016, 04:10 PM) Thank you for the reply Refer to this link: http://www.asus.com/my/Notebooks/ROG-GL552VW/A quick research on Google yield results of GL552VW-DH##, while in lowyat forums the model series starts with DM (GL552VW-DM##), hence the confusion. Weirdly enough, even ASUS (to my knowledge) fails to properly list down the models of the series, or any series for that matter. If there are variants of the same make, it would be better if they are listed so customers can know which is better or the latest version for example. Furthermore, differences in he variants are also unknown. Does the models differ in terms of the regions they are sold? Or is the specs somewhat different? As for the local market, I'm not sure which model is sold in Malaysia, which is why I want to know for sure which GL552VW I'm going to end up buying. Thanks Sorry to let you know, but you're kind of late as G55VW is a discontinued product. And Its replacement is GL552, before this there were G551 and G501 as well.

QUOTE(kaiser_falco @ Mar 12 2016, 07:54 PM) asus rog! applicable for msia?? I think its worth the try, despite it might cost up beyond RM500 inclusive gst and workmanship. Not to forget the poor service of our local technician which you might ended up. QUOTE(acorlus @ Mar 13 2016, 04:52 PM) Hi guys, I'm currently using Asus ROG G551JM. I have problem connecting Wi-Fi at a certain distance. This happens while my housemates' laptops are able to connect to the Wi-Fi at the same place. Is there any solution to my problem? Thanks in advance! Mind sharing the details such as wireless link 802.11G/802.11N, how far is your laptop and the access point? I assuming you're using stock Atheros wireless card. There are times that atheros tends to give such issues, while other chip like broadcom/intel/killer gives less problem.

QUOTE(acorlus @ Mar 14 2016, 03:41 PM) Thanks for you reply! What do you mean by sharing details such as wireless link 802.11G/802.11N? The laptop is at second floor directly 5 meters above the router. Yeah I'm using Qualcomm Atheros AR946x Wireless Network Adapter. Windows 8/10 Task manager should tell you which type of wireless band are you connecting? PS: See the Connection type. QUOTE(Riggo @ Mar 14 2016, 04:47 PM) Hi, my friend has just bought a new Asus laptop with conventional 1TB HDD and he wishes to upgrade the HDD to SSD. May I know whether replacing the HDD with SSD by himself would void the Asus 2 years international warranty? Sorry for asking my newbie question here as this thread seems to be the most active Asus lappy thread with many experienced Asus users frequenting and answering questions Thank you. It will not void if you replaced the drive back to stock and send for warranty. Heck why did they left the maintenance hatch for HDD and RAM open for user access for, if it wasn't for upgradability in terms of storage and memory. However, if your friend happen to see the "Do not remove. Void Warranty" sort of sticker, that will void it but most likely asus stick that on top of CPU heatsink screw area.

My 128GB SSD is running out of space, upgrading to 240GB and pass down the 128GB to my MBP. 128GB isn't sufficient lately when it comes to softwares.

QUOTE(horns @ Mar 29 2016, 04:03 PM) for most people, sata ssd of 120gb is enough for os plus productivity suites like ms.office, web browsers, etc. (i.e. common use), if they don't add news software along the way. for new purchases, however, just grab sata ssd 240gb range or above. you have more space to use in the long run. That is why i'll clone the 128gb content to 240gb and plug it run in my G53. While my mbp will inherit the 128GB ssd upgrade from the default 500GB mechanical drive.

QUOTE(horns @ Mar 30 2016, 12:37 AM) haha nice now your mbp also gets a boost btw i have tested asus gl552jx recently. the build quality is relatively ok, but its display panel wobbles easily. with its stock hdd, it's really unbearably slow. added m.2 sata ssd, swapped ram to 2x8gb, installed w10 pro (tweaked heaviy to get rid of unused services and stuff), and it become very much better. the machine is for work purposes so 950m is good enough. the total price with upgrade is under 4.3k. I notice Kingston Predator M2. PCI-E is selling around 7xx at lazada and its 240GB. Yeah the upgrade is around 1k-1.2k. Provided that 2 stick of 8gb would cost around rm300.

Cheapest i can find for 480GB SSD is costing around RM520. But average of us would consider is it worth spending over rm500 for speed?
