Update battery status: full charge 100% till now 33% with SOT 4hr 10mins. I feel it is not bad but not really impressive.

Oppo's VOOC is proprietary to them. From what I understand, they have multiple cells in 1 battery, which gets charged by the 8 pins in the charger separately, which is why it charges very fast, ie in parallel. Nice engineering.

Samsung's seems to be taking a brute force approach, perhaps Qualcomm's is the same, where they raise the voltage and push it thru the battery faster.

As such, the new battery is 3.85V default, up to 4.4V. This is a new chemistry.

Do not use fake or compatible batteries with the Samsung fast charger.

Some people would say need to charge 8 hour. While some will say just charge full 100 % then can unplug already.

For me my first charge for my note 4 is 2 days ago before i sleep at 2AM then i let it charge till 7.30 AM when i wake up then i unplug already.

Now i can get SOT time around 5 to 6 hour when heavy usage. If low usage maybe would me more.

An update on the Gear S.

I put in a multisim, and made it primary to receive calls and sms. I also set it on Always On for Mobile Networks so I can detach it from my phone.

I feel that it will barely last 8 hours in this scenario. I had to switch it to PowerSave mode, which turns everything grayscale, and supposedly halts all other functions except for timekeeping, phone and sms. Note that I had to Enable Mobile Networks otherwise the phone will also stop working.

Verdict: As a smartphone accessory paired via Bluetooth, it should last about 12-15 hours with light use.

If you decide to use it primarily as a phone, expect to charge it at least twice a day if you are not on PowerSave.

On Powersave, you basically get a wearable Nokia 3310. But hey, the upshot is that you can switch it to color and read your email and browse the internet on it if you really wanted to.

I'd say a good first attempt by Samsung. Gear S2 should improve on the battery life.

with the rate of LTE progress in msia, it will need another few years to even max out the Cat 4 limit at 150mbps. i dont see any LTE telco provider can even hit half the speed of Cat 4 at 75mbps yet. Few years later, Note4 can be in the museum already. So why worry? tongue.gif

Concern ? There's no word if CAT 6 is coming to msia unless you're in Sg and that's a different story
