Some points i like about Zenphone 5 A500kl
- It has a decent camera
- Resolution is great . 1280x720 on 5" making it clear and crips.
- Snappy performance. Not to sure because it is Snapdragon or the 60ms fps stated in website.
- Zen Ui is great. Definitely better than sony, samsung, lg and all other bullshit crap.
- So far my dad loves it. Never regret choosing this instead of lenovo or xiaomi.

Hi guys. I'm planning to buy the Zenfone 5 A500KL version for 4G purposes. I'm wondering about the dual sim property, how does it really work? I'm planning to use one sim card only for data while another for phone call and whatnot.

Battery life sucks, 3.5 hours at best, with dual sim. You need to set our dual sim card setting to "always ask" which sim card to use for calls, as well as which card to use for data. Fantastic phone, poor battery life only.

Yeah, well, some reviews show that it is single sim, some review said that while single sim, there's an optional dual sim feature hmm.gif

so meaning that we can adjust the properties of each sim without having both active at the same time? yeah well, battery life might not be so great, but it goes well with my budget tho sweat.gif

Is there any working method to root the latest firmware (Kitkat)?

I would like to disable some useless apps and process running in the background.

go to the taiwanese guy's site and download V3.

install Intel for Android drivers
then
install ASUS ADB (use moborobo app to do that)

then just follow the simple instructions in the chinese guy's V3 package (not v2)

and when it finally has root, you reboot the phone, and make sure it STILL HAS "black background with white asus logo" when booting.

Because
if you have WHITE background with BLACK ASUS logo, it means your bootloader is unlocked. (can relock though, not sure about warranty)

I know one guy who did this, got his OTA. But don't take my word for it, because I'm on ASUS_T00J_WW_user_2.19.40.18_20141003_8008 release-keys 044000307_201407220024 already.

Gonna see when new update hits if i can get it.

(but somebody who locked his bootloader again, actually got it. again, don't take my word)

HI,

After upgrading to 4.4.2, my out going call ring tone disappear. The only sign that my call is thru is a firm, once vibration. :-(

kk definitely need root, to enable access to sdcard for thirdpart apps. unless is a phone with no sdcard like original moto g that wont be a problem, but we got phone with sdcard and kk made sdcard useless for thirdparty app.
