hi guys,

Sydney definately more exp than Melbourne in terms of cost of living and food.

I been to Sydney and the food price ranges from like 12 - 20 bucks permeal ( city area - you get good view though biggrin.gif ).

Melbourne is probably in the midrange area ( cheapest meal in melbourne 6 dollars as far as I know ) . I live in Melbourne, so maybe I have more time to explore Melbourne tongue.gif .

One thing for sure.. if you work here in Australia , you will definately feel everything in Australia is affordable and is not that expensive compare to working back in Malaysia.

TGIF ( Especially on Friday Night ) ..the best ..woo hoo..

cheers

hi,

erm 12 - 20 bucks I assume is the standard cause I was there for holiday and I was having dinner / lunches at those..western restaurants near Darling Habour.

Chinese food is standard though around 8- 10 bucks per meal.

Depends on the job you are looking for, there are weekend jobs ( I was working at a call centre last year - gives me nightmare ).

So yeah, getting a part time job here in Australia is not a problem. ( just depends what kind of job.. tongue.gif ).

Cheers

Those restaurants are obviously more expensive because of their location. Try to look around the city and you should be able to find some cheap steaks around, cheapest i've seen was 10 bucks for a steak and a schooner.

I can tell you Brisbane is not that cheap now either. Everything is going up, from rent to food to public transport. TG international students still get concession fares in QLD.

Hi all, I completed my SAM studies last year. Currently I'm working and I took a year off already. Anyway anyone from Swinburne/Deakin or RMIT? My destination is definately Melbourne but I'm still undecided on my Uni. If I choose Deakin, I have to travel at least 45 minutes by tram.RMIT, on the other hand is located just down the road but the business course offered are four years. I haven't gotten many feedbacks on Swinburne. Enlighten me please? biggrin.gif

@ahxiang,
I tink u've got a relative or something in Melbourne and will be putting up with them. If ur worried about transportation and do not wish to travel too far, look at the options available to you.

Or, shouldn't u be looking at the course u wanna get into, versus the quality education ur gonna get from whichever Uni u intend to go to?

Erm................Brisbane is the capital of QLD. >.>

From what I've heard, WA isn't that much cheaper nowadays. Not when they seem to hit every single mineral on earth when they dig a hole in the ground. Adelaide and Hobart maybe?

you have missed the days of subsidised education in oz by some 20 years........now they wanna make money from you......so be prepared to pay lots of fees..........

there are scholarships available, but that will require pretty good results to qualify..........loans will need collaterals, like your house.........

you can work part time, up to 20 hrs a week during term, but that may compromise on your academic performance unless you are very smart, or doing a very easy course.........it can be enough to pay for your living expenses, but not your fees............
