For E&E engineering in Australia, I guess the most popular uni I have heard during my time of study for this course would be Melbourne Uni and Sydney's University of Technology. The other unis are OK, but these 2 are more reputable I guess. I could be wrong though, better consult IDP and see.

If your 1119 for SPM is 3(b) and above, I think you don't have to take IELTS. I took IELTS last time because my college told me that it's a pre-requisite. But when I arrived in Aus, I was told that I don't need to take IELTS because my SPM's 1119 results was 3(b).
*
Engineering Uni in Aus i think Monash University(got a campus in Sunway,Sarawak), and Melbourne University is quite good.
About IELTS, For me, i think acutally is base on ur luck see who is the one that handle your application. I just apply for computing & IT in Perth(ECU). and the pre-req is ILETS, or SPM 1119 3b above, BUT... BUT i did't have any ILETS Cert and my SPM 1119 get "C"(not sure what number already)... but i still approve to take the course and without and ILETS cert and SPM 3(b) ... but my friends that taking some course with me, he need to get the ILETs CERT to get in the course ... SO i really got no idea what is going on. Oh ya.. i help my sister to submit the application form to the same person that approve my application, she got the same ! without ILETS or SPM 1119 3(b) ...

Missing an "e" there.

This worries me a lot.

ECU= Edith Cowan University?

Ignoring the atrocious English, there is no such thing as "on your luck" for Australian universities. They are a hell lot more transparent than local Malaysian U's (IMO, including some IPTS'es also). You either make the cut, or you don't. Through with ECU, I'm not surprised they took you in with a "C" for your 1119. Even if they turn you down, at least they tell you why.

What is the IELTS score needed to get into Computing (Computer Science? Information Technology?) in ECU? A "C" for 1119 would be about an IELTS score of 5.5 IMO.

any extension would mean that you need to get a new visa, which means ~ausd 500 for the visa plus you'll need to do another health check

If you guys think of studying engineering in Australia, University of New South Wales is still ranked the 1st in Australia and 16th in the world, well above Uni of Mel or Monash Uni. I can guarantee that.

Hey friends,

I'm looking forward to study in RMIT, Melbourne for design course.
From what I know, Melbourne is a city like PJ. Which is well organized. Second thing is, work part-time there and eat there is definitely cheaper than having it in KL. The part-time there pay you with min AUD10 for a hour. So imagine you can work for 20 hours a week. 20*10=AUD200. I believe that's a good deal for us. At least we can bare on our living expenses.

Just to share, too many replies above. Can't catch up, hope you guys don't mind I jump in to share some.

Well, personally Melbourne is a hell lot more organized than PJ. But I digress.

I'm having trouble understanding this sentence, but I think I get what you're trying to say. Working part-time here is an option, but IMO I don't think you can live on $200/wk in Melbourne. Eating out is not as cheap as M'sia. A simple meal will be AT LEAST $7. So yes, you do earn more, but you pay more eating out. Food here (Australia) is generally cheap. and even Asian food is quite readily available in the mainstream supermarkets.

Remember: your work must never interfere with your results.

Ya, I can understand that. But what about cooking yourself there? How is the price for, let's say 2 meal?
Just wanted to know, so I can have that in mind.

own cooking would cost you about $2 to $4 per meal depends on what you cook.
