Correction: New free in-house Malay HD channels for NJOI is released in June. Posibly to be named Astro Mahal HD. QUOTE She (Rozana) said Astro aimed to continuously develop its e-commerce value proposition to meet the growing online shopping demand and capture more household consumers through its free satellite TV proposition, NJOI, which is set to introduce a new Malay HD channel this June. I predict that new NJOI HD channel will be full of recycled content from Astro Ria, Astro Maya HD and Astro Mustika HD, just like what they did to Astro Xi Yue HD.

QUOTE(torreto @ Mar 30 2015, 09:24 PM) fox sport 2 & 3 in HD ? The article talked about how their ARPU has increased. Everyone knows how to increase ARPU if subscription fees increase on yearly basis. Just recently, Golf Channel was removed From Sport Pack.

Astro’s TV ad revenue fell 2.3% to RM327.2mil for the financial year ended Jan 31, 2015, it said when announcing its fourth quarter results to Bursa Malaysia on Monday. Haha.

Well if Mytv makes it in June who will want NJOI, I dont think ARPU has increased, the desperation to hold on has increased, cos Myytv had indicated free HD too. Asstro will have just to cling on to sports to survive. They hv lost many chinese and indian subscibers to alternate cheaper sources, and they wl never return to astrro, and if Mytv makes it many malay customers wl follow suit! They are still arrogant just cos of EPL This post has been edited by smileguy: Mar 31 2015, 06:25 AM

Asstro will have just to cling on to sports to survive Hoping that MYTV will not be another failed project. About 2 months before it launch, the company is mysteriously silent on the progress of the project apart from the news that the set top box will be sold at RM200 (and given for free to selected BR1M recipients). I have to agree that ASTRO has to depend on its premium content (Sport, Movies etc) in the future to keep its customer base. With GST & increasing prices, many are planning either to unsubscribe or cutting down their monthly packages.

They are still arrogant just cos of EPL I have sampled these "alternative cheaper" source recently. My friend was trying to "poison" me when he let me try for a weekend when he was away. I have no issue with the picture quality & the availability of so many channels. And I was delighted these "alternative" have the full complement of Sky Sports channels. However, being "arrogant" coz of EPL , I wasn't too impressed with the frames per second of live matches (a pain to watch) & the broadcast delay of 6-8 minutes. So, until that improves, Asstro it is or until they lose the live football rights.

Even HyppTV couldnt compete, let alone new player.

But with Astro signing more exclusive deals with content providers, what's left for MYTV? Whatever not on Astro are taken by Hypp TV while the remainders are taken by Abnxcess.

Agreed, with the current situation assto has become luxury paying so much for so little.Besides sports the other premium content like Movies with 3 miserable channels recycling content are all under subscribed. After 20 yrs I hv cut my pack to Value pack which is also almost to rm100 and soon I may terminate it, my alternate source costs only rm50 per month! Asstro does not value customers,it rides with BN and will fall with Bn, and Mytv may change everything!

QUOTE(smileguy @ Mar 31 2015, 12:59 PM) They are still considering whether to absorb the tax or pass it to the customers. Based on the news report, out of 4.4 million subscribers, only 348,000 subscribe to SuperPack. This means that subscription of premium services represents a minor part of Astro's total customer base. Will hanging onto premium service help them to face customer sensitive price sentiment post-GST? They've done so by removing Golf Channel from the Sport Pack and offering it at the exorbitant rate of RM50/month to keep the cash flowing.
