1) Depend on location (high rise or landed)
2) Provider (maxis or time)
3) astro iptv can connect 2 decoder in one time

Well I'm guessing its 2019...
Since by then we all really needs to use full digital transmission instead of the current one..

Hmm... I don't really agree with that.

Astro Awani's monthly net reach is quite high, you know? There are many viewers watches Astro Awani. And I agree that Malaysian TV news/media should upgrade news channels to HD, cuz other countries already started airing their news in HD quality while majority of Malaysian TV news/media still stuck in SD quality.

These depends on RTM and Media Prima on when they will air their channels in HD quality. But what we know for sure is, both RTM and Media Prima already upgraded their broadcast facilities from analogue to digital few years ago, so for them to broadcast their channels in HD is actually possible on DTT (digital TV) or pay TV platform.

Malaysians can expect (not "confirm will") RTM and Media Prima to introduce their channels in HD quality only after digital TV platform become officially available nationwide around 2017.

ASEAN countries (including Malaysia) were agreed and already in transitioning to digital TV using DVB-T2 standard, and then switch off analogue TV broadcast by the year of 2020.

In other words, you could say that by hook or by crook, all ASEAN countries have to switch off analogue TV by 2020.

Not only ASEAN countries... The ITU (International Telecommunication Union) urges the whole world to migrate to digital TV. Most of the countries already migrated, some is still in transition, some is "unknown".

Another advantage is moving to digital is that, it allows the spectrum from 700MHz to use it as mobile network instead of TV, which includes 4G LTE and also the upcoming 5G. Malaysia plans to implement 700Mhz frequency band for more 4G mobile network bandwidth but it is only possible after the analogue TV is switch off.

So need to waiting till analogue tv switch off than can offer more service that using 700MHz frequency.

5G in Malaysia maybe arrive in 2025 or later. With more faster speed use on mobile network. We can expect that maybe 6G or 7G will give more blazing speed up to 500Mbps for mobile wireless service. With speed more than 100Mbps~500Mbps coming maybe in 2050 or 2100. Maybe mobile internet provider can offer unlimited internet on fastest wireless tech than using standard copper and fibre optic cable. biggrin.gif

DiGi now offering 4G+ broadband speed up to 150Mbps and have about 100GB data. After your finish the data speed will be capped at 512Kbps Unlimited. Instead of standard 64kbps capping speed with 15GB that standard Celcom offering now. Maybe Celcom should make 512Kbps capped speed unlimited same like what DiGi did. 4G+ can offers speed more than 100Mbps and average speed telco give around 30Mbps~80Mbps for most less people use it

If that area more people use maybe speed around 10Mbps~20Mbps. Still good smile.gif
5G arriving with more capacity and bandwidth we can expect telco will give atleast 200GB data or 1Mbps unlimited cap speed. But yeah maybe 5G in Japan first since NTT Docomo want to launch in Japan in 2020. 4G speed is good enough. Just need big data or atleast 500Kbps cap speed is more than enough rclxms.gif thumbup.gif biggrin.gif laugh.gif

Very true. Just like what Thailand and Singapore does... Almost all or ALL of their national channels are already broadcast in 16:9, except Malaysia...

I was wondering when will that happen in RTM/Media Prima channels, after all almost all of their programmes they get from content provider are already in digital HD 16:9 format, but still broadcast as 4:3 with letterbox.

But CRT TV will have screen 16:9 and black bars up and down. Still ok than 4:3 that need to stretch on HDTV biggrin.gif laugh.gif
