take AOD for example, the particular TVB episode actually arrived in our shore way earlier than its scheduled premiere date in both HK and Malaysia. For eg if Monday night is premiere for Ep1, then maybe on Sunday night Astro might already received the show from TVB under certain arrangement. Then, using that 1 day window period, they have ample time to do censorship and post-processing, you need to know that AOD existed way earlier than TVB Jade set foot here, so before this we didn't have the chance to witness the discrepancies as there's no occurrence of the same content appearing on different channels. The nature of the "live monitoring team" is that, hmm.. they tend to assume a lot.. means that they ll pay lesser attention to chinese contents compare to Fox Movies, because no matter how liberal HK is, it is still not possible to broadcast foul language and nudity in TVB
I know. I have already guessed much earlier that the videos for AOD had already been pre-recorded or delivered to Ass-throw earlier to allow for ample time for censorship to scissors to cut off such scenes so that is why that "kissing scene" was censored in AOD channels. I do agree about this aspect even before you noted this to me now. Lets push this point out of the way. Please correct me if I misunderstood you. Basically, you are pointing to these 2 points...
1) TVB Jade HD is a live feed from Hong Kong and the delay time given may not be enough for the Ass-throw staff in the control room to cut it off.
2) The monitoring of channels with "Live" feeds is more "relaxed" and more "casual" for Chinese channels compared to English Channels and because of this, things like this "escaped" the scissors.
By explaining it in this way, well... I can digest it and not worried about getting myself poisoned, hehehe.
I did mention earlier about the more liberal censorship in Hong Kong but I stated this as a simple comparison to Malaysia and probably Singapore too. I did not say anything that Hong Kong is very liberal to include allowing foul language and nudity. As I have stated earlier, the gauge of what is acceptable are different for each country but I do know that there will also be various criteria that each country do have in common, such nudity and sex, foul and obscene language, extreme gore and violence, themes that promote banned drugs such as opium.
I did not say that Hong Kong is very liberal that they can accept foul language and nudity. Just like in any country, its my believe that Hong Kong have different liberal acceptance compared to Malaysia when it steps on things, let me put it this way... that is "debatable" such as 2 guys kissing, stories and themes on gays, homosexuality and various aspects of political liberties. So, some things that may seem harmless to me may be cut off in Malaysia but not in Hong Kong. Conversely, some things is even banned (not censored) in Thailand but allowed in Malaysia. No need to censor the movie "The King And I" in Thailand because it is totally banned there BUT allowed to be shown in Malaysia. Mmm... I remembered watching this movie in Ass-throw many years ago in (I think) Star Movies channel which also display "Not available in Thailand" message in their short trailer before that movie was due for showing.
Ok... your explanation is well put and I can accept it eventhough I do have some lingering doubts on why that scene of 2 guys kissing was not cut off in TVB Jade HD even when repeatedly shown a few times in 24 hours.
Oh... the Hong Kong movie "Anna and the King" starring Chow Yun-Fat was also banned in Thailand. Its also based on the similar story of "The King And I".
Edit : Spelt "misunderstood" wrongly. And wrong phrase. Corrected... hehehe.
