161. To increase the readiness of ATM's personnel and assets, RM7 billion will be allocated to purchase and maintain the defence assets. Apart from this, the welfare of armed forces personnel will also be improved, including health services and housing.

162. Meanwhile, to improve maritime safety, APMM will be allocated RM393 million. This is for improving operational efficiency and the purchase of seven new patrol vessels.

163. Jabatan Sukarelawan Malaysia or RELA under the Ministry of Home Affairs will continue to be a voluntary agency to assist the security forces to maintain peace and security of the nation. A sum of RM117 million will be allocated to strengthen the role of RELA, particularly for training and capacity building.

RM17.7 billion is allocated to the Malaysian Armed Forces while RM9.1 billion is allocated to the Royal Malaysian Police.

Extend Lahad Datu airport, I assume for better aircraft coverage of eastern Sabah. On the Hawks, I reckon its for combat Hawks only.

This statement if it's true, rm7bil for development expenditure (DE)?? That's a whopping leap from measly rm2.7bil last year and rm3.3bil from 2013!!

But I stay cautious still.. bijan never did say it's specially only for DE..

It says 7 bil is for maintenance AND acquisition. So it depends on how much maintenance cost allocated, then balance can be used to buy new stuff.

welp there goes my enthusiasm, thought the whole 7bil is for buying things.

I was predicting at most for 10 new units, so not so far off. But every bit of help for APMM is a significant enough.

17.7bil for the defence budget, that means operating expenditure (OE) plus development expenditure/new toys (DE)
The 7bil for DE is part of that 17.7bil
