Btw, Im trying to do dirty flash R5 from R4 now.
AOSP rom.

IMO, dirty flash r4 to r5 working because r5 is minor change only.
r3 to r4 not working because r4 have a major change. (kernel, etc can refer changelog)

I'm using twrp... Before that using cwm recovery... Flash from cwm to twrp with no issue

Stock mi recovery > cwm recovery > twrp recovery

Theres a teardown on the official forums showing the 8228 cpu. The other teardown showing 8628 was for the China tdma model.

Need to drag and create a folder one by one again ?

is it necessary to root first before flash custom recovery?

boonsheng Maybe you can try download Es explorer and click show hidden folder , then either browsing through DCIM on your sdcard1 or 0 and check which hidden folder take out the space.Including other hidden folder and gallery cache. Check one by one the file size like how you right click window properties for details.
