Fans of Eastspring Small Cap...take care...

The 40% Stock Returns That Worry Aberdeen, PCCI: Southeast Asia

QUOTE
After getting a 40 percent return on a $4,580 investment in steelmaker Pantech Group Holdings Bhd. (PGHB) in the past year, Vincent Ng Sze Tat is looking for the next winner among Malaysian small-cap stocks.

No matter that Aberdeen Asset Management Plc and PCCI Securities Brokers Corp. say gains among some of Asia’s riskier shares are overdone, while the heads of exchanges in Thailand and Malaysia are urging investors to exercise caution when trading in the smallest stocks.

Ng is one of a growing number of private individuals, or retail investors, across Southeast Asia pouring money into the region’s riskiest shares, attracted by gains that have outstripped the indexes of larger stocks this year. Small- and medium-cap indexes in Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines have gained an average 41 percent this year, almost four times the advance by benchmark gauges of bigger companies.

Btw...

Tips for those who wanna top up other Affin Hwang funds that are not under the 1% promotion...

BUY Affin Hwang Asia Quantum
Then once the transaction is completed on T+4 (e.g. u buy today, T+4 would be 23 Oct 2014), SWITCH to your fund of choice.
BUT...pray hard that small/mid caps don't kaboom >1% during that 4 days tongue.gif

Is that 1-day drop? sweat.gif

FTSE small caps peaked at about 19,200... at the moment, around 16,000 level, 17% down.

Before last year's GE, it was rather flat around 12,500 level before shooting up to 14,500-15,000 and continue its climb to its peak 2 months ago.

Too much goreng-goreng by retail and institutional investors?

Will it go to 12,500 - 14,500 level?
