But not the small caps. Rusell 2000 ETF, IWM, just bounce off its 100 week moving average. Closing +ve for past 3 days. That could mean something. It is usually a leading indicator, hopefully not a dead cat bounce.

I thought FBM KLCI is composed of 30 large caps.

Maybe you don't have those big caps.

Global Market Corrections: Any Opportunity? October 17, 2014
In this article, we will help you search for investment opportunities in markets with higher values in light of the current global market corrections.
Author : Fundsupermart.com

(just part from the articles)

Asia (ex-Japan) Market: Time to Buy

Asia ex-Japan equities missed most of the global upward moves led by the developed markets last year. Yet based on the attractive valuations and improving macro-economic factors, these markets still have room for growth. From May 2014 to August 31 2014, the MSCI Asia ex Japan Index has recorded a 9.6% return (in USD terms). However, due to global market corrections, the index dropped 6.1% in September, presenting a very attractive opportunity. In addition, as of October 12 2014, the estimated PE is at 12.2X, far below its fair PE of 14.5X. Therefore, it is a good time to buy now.

Investors should note that not all Asian stock markets are bullish. From the perspective of another valuation model, “the price-to-book ratio–return on equity (P/B–ROE)”, in the same quality of earnings, the P/B of some countries are more expensive, especially in ASEAN countries. However, it is not conflicting to be bearish on ASEAN and bullish on the Asian market. Among the MSCI Asia ex Japan Index’s constituent stocks, more than 70% are from the Northeast Asian region, among which China, Hong Kong and South Korea are rated five stars in FSM.

Unit split/bonus units

2 for 5

I.e. 2 additional unit for every 5 u hold

E.g. u previously have 10,000, CIMB-Principal will "give" u "free" 4,000 units

Sifus here,

Is this the good time to have a unit trust as the first investment option for a student but having a capital of 1K will it be good enough?

Newbie here but trying to learn as much as I can from here. Any comments will be appreciated.

Thank you.

Work out a hypothetical scenario is easiest to understand such concepts...

Imagine fund size RM100,000
NAV: RM1.0000
Previously outstanding units were 100,000
Now they do 2:5 split/bonus
Now become 140,000 units
NAV becomes: RM0.7143

If my finance knowledge doesn't fail me...

U take pre-split NAV i.e. RM1.0000
U do this factoring...
2:5 split mar...
RM1.0000 *5/7 to get your ex-split NAV

Similarly, to get back to pre-split NAV, u take ex-split NAV
RM0.7143 * 7/5

Split is more straightforward than distribution, cos everyone is taking the units, no one is taking cash out.

Whereas distribution, some unitholders take cash, some reinvest. So the calculation not so straightforward.
