The card producer tried to outshine each other whenever they produce new sets as years gone by. Marvel started in 1990 & only in 1992 DC jump into the ban wagon. I think the chronology of the hologram sets are as follows:-

01) 1990 Marvel Universe Series I Hologram Card Set
MH1: Cosmic Spider-Man
MH2: Magneto
MH3: Silver Surfer
MH4: Wolverine
MH5: Spider-Man vs. Green Goblin

02) 1991 Marvel Universe Series II Hologram Card Set
H-1: Spider-Man
H-2: Hulk
H-3: Punisher
H-4: Doctor Doom
H-5: Fantastic Four vs. Mole Man

03) 1992 Marvel Universe Series III Hologram Card Set - Each hologram was tinted a different colour
H-1: Hulk (Green Hologram)
H-2: Thing (Orange Hologram)
H-3: Wolverine (Blue Hologram)
H-4: Venom (Dark Blue Hologram)
H-5: Ghost Rider (Purple Hologram)

04) 1992 DC Cosmic Heroes Hologram Card set
DCH1 Clark Kent and Lois Lane
DCH2 Darkseid
DCH3 Deathstroke the Terminator
DCH4 Flash
DCH5 Green Lantern
DCH6 Hawkman
DCH7 Lobo
DCH8 Superman
DCH9 Wonder Woman
DCH10 Waverider

05) 1992 Jim Lee X-Men Hologram Card set (Gold Foil Holograms)
XH-1 - Wolverine
XH-2 - Cable
XH-3 - Gambit
XH-4 - Magneto
XH-5 - X-Men Blue Team

06) 1993 DC Cosmic Teams - 6 card hologram set (a mixed of 3-D hologram & normal hologram)
DCH11 Captain Marvel
DCH12 Hawkman
DCH13 Lobo
DCH14 The Spectre
DCH15 Superman
DCH16 Swamp Thing

06) 1993 Marvel Universe Series IV 3-D Hologram card (1st 3-D Hologram card)
H-IV: Spider-Man vs. Venom (1:180 packs)

07) 1994 Fleer Ultra X-Men Series II Hologram Card set (boasted to be the 1st multi-coloured holograms)
H1 - Storm
H2 - Magneto
H3 - Cable
H-X - Wolverine 3-D card (1:180 packs)

07) 1994 Marvel Universe Series V 3-D Hologram Card Set (the set comes in 3 different tint)
1: Spider-Man
2: Wolverine
3: War Machine
4: Silver Surfer

08) 1994 Skybox DC Master Series 1st Skydisc Card
SD1 - Batman Skydisc (1:180 packs)

And the list goes on...

I see Lady Death cards..bad girl of the 90s.

Yup. Your holo is 3D type...daytime is best to view it.

Infortunately some of my 3D holo cards kinda "deteriote" over the years. Some tint became darker till all pitch black while some grew funny dots on the surface.

My X-MEn Chromium cards also tukar warna...sucks.

You are not alone dude. I had a 30th anniversary Cable holo and a Gambit holo. All became cloudy. Seriously disheartening. Doubt there is anyway to refresh its condition.

I don't think anything can be done once the condition deteriorate. I have the same problem. It seems like that we need to expose the holos more to sunlight. Which what I'm doing nowadays. Expose them to sunlight for half hour or so.

I bought a new set of holos becos of the condition.

My Cable and Magneto holo are still surviving. But Gambit holo is a goner. Are you referring to the Hologram thnat appear on selected X-Men comics to mark 30th anniversary of Uncanny X-men?

I have the Sinister Observations 10 card set. As we've discussed before, the chromiums are also fading. Its not as bright as I used to remember.

Boris & Julie are husband & wife tag team just like Frank Miller & Lynn Varley ( Batman: The Dark Knight Strikes Again, 300 & Elektra Lives Again)- well, Miller/Varley tag team didn't last that long cos they were divorced in 2005.

But 1996 Marvel Masterpieces set (drawn entirely by Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell) is one of the most sought after trading card set ever & its expensive!

Apparently the sunlight helps. I hope it will help return my Venom to proper condition. The holo is ok just darkened center. But after a little sunlight/heat it seems to be alittle better. Or maybe its my imagination wanting it to get better.

The exact holograms were released on a single card to commemorate the 30th anniversary. I have those and the comics as well. The comics are slightly fading but again am sunning it everyday now along with all my holos.

I have that set too! They are brilliant! Bought the last wolverine card for like RM20 when they were released. It was the only one that I could not get out of a pack.

Its hard to find good cards nowadays. The plastic set that came with that ultrafleer is also turning yellow. But still they are a beauty to look at once in a while. But the 92 Masterpiece set is one of the best IMO.

92 Masterpieces? The one by Joe Jusko? I think it was selling for RM 5 back then which is alot for me. But later i saved pocket money to collect Marvel Flair..irony.

I didnt get the Boris/ Bell Marvel Masterpieces set. I stopped at Hilderbrant Bros Masterpieces. As time passes, less comics shop brought in trading cards.

Looking back at my comics and cards reminds me on how I used to visit those comics shops in PJ area after school and buying a fewpacks with friends. The thrill of scoring the special cards was priceless. I didnt complete whole set until I went study overseas and got the rest from comic conventions. Most of them at resonable prices.

Yep 92 Masterpiece by Joe has a real nice look and feel to his art. His Venom vs Spiderman foil art was one of the best in that set.

Now - card collecting is more like Magic or Pokemon. Marvel and Image has since tried to capitalize on the gaming card market. Serious card collecting are now reserved for sports. Oh well - at least we have our old sets to look at! Am busting out my old Fleer Ultra and Masterpiece set to look at. Those bring back memories!

Boris and Julie is 1 of my fav artists for comic cards, they do muscle body real good but facial wise abit out. The Hildebrand bros on the other hand are great on physics n facial but limited to painting style only.. alex ross, well his character tend to looks too mature and old...

The Hilderbrandt Bros - well I love their art. Their art are so colourful & capture the essence of the character that they draw. But I don't think they produce a lot of stuffs cos being artists' of their calibre, they can't produce materials fast enough to accommodate the fans' need.

BTW, received my Sandman 3-D Hologram Card. Nothing spectacular about the card but it looks a lot better in real life than the photos below. Me satisfied.

The only thing bout the Hilderbrandt brothers are that they do faces lousy. I think its one of the brothers that do all that snarling faces. In the masterpieces set most of the characters are snarling or clenching their teeth. Looks constipated. The only one who looks relaxed is Professor X. Their work on lighting is good though.

Alex Ross remains one of the best artist of our generation. Kingdom Come was a really good book for an Elseworld series. Feel free to disagree with me.

Vavavoom: How much you had to pay for a single card to be shipped here? And what was your bid price for the Spiderman vs Venom?

The Morpheus 3-D Card I got it for RM58.73 @ USD18.17. I think I was lucky to bid and won this magnificent condition card from ebay. You need to be vigilant & go thru ebay almost all the time. Me, well I check ebay 10 - 20 times a day looking for bargains tongue.gif

H-IV Spiderman vs Venom 3-D card I got it from packs. I got my H-X Wolverine 3-D card I bought it from Comics Corner for RM20 almost 10 years ago rclxms.gif

Now I'm trying to complete my Skydisc card. I have Superman & Batman. Now hunting for Man of Steel & Death.

Comics Corner was one of the places that had more trading cards variety to offer. I still frequent their outlet at Damansara Jaya which is more focus to gaming cards.

I have some Wizard: Guide to Comics magazines...some covers like Marvel Heroes and Villains variant drawn by Alex Ross...simply fascinating art.

Other artists i like would be Joe Chiodo (funny looking w big boobs and buttocks) or Dave Dorman. There are many others too but cant remember their names.

Dan Berenton ...nice but his style is more to "horror" kinda feel.

Early trading cards offer one type of special inserts...later ones got multiple types of inserts. Some have to buy more than one box to complete all special inserts.

For those who have holograms - I read that sun light exposure might damage the card in the long run. If the cards turn color its just the fact that those were manufactured faults. It happens I guess. Laser etching can cause problems.

UV is bad. No wonder some cards have that UV protection coating. I kept all my special cards in Ultra Pro sleeves and file them in binders.

I hate to see deteriotion in those 3D holos.

I have stuffs done by Alex Ross (signed & unsigned) hanging on my house wall & most of his hardcover signed edition (Kingdom Come, Marvels & others) - I didn't notice him much when he did Marvels but when he did Kingdom Come, I was hooked to the guy.

Joe Chiodo is also one of my favourite artist with his funny looking STUFFS biggrin.gif

Dan Brereton - one of his best endeavour would be (in my opinion cos I love it) the 7 issue Giantkiller which he was the Writer/Illustrator.

Well... if you are crazy about comics, you have list of artists/Illustrators which you would buy without second thoughts. I love Adam Hughes (AH), Arthur Adams, Barry Windsor Smiths to name a few. There's this another artist I like; Steve Rude. His art looks clean & 60s feel to it. Look at this World Finest done by him.

Either way, its frustrates you to see when your stuffs deteriorate in such condition. Nowadays, I would expose all of my inserts to room sunlight. Maybe the cards too need some sunlight to synthesize Vitamin D tongue.gif
