If you r referring to the 1992 Marvel Masterpieces full 100 card base set, 1995 Marvel Fleer Ultra X-Men 150 Card Set & 1995 Marvel Metal Inaugural Base 138 Card Set - should be within the price range of RM100 each set depending on the condition of the cards & depending on "Willing Buyer - Willing Seller" situation. If together with inserts, obviously it'll be more expensive.

But alas, Malaysian market is very small & there are not many collectors whose willing to pay premium price for these items. I have those sets & many more. They're in boxes cos used to keep them in folders until the plastic folders becomes brittle...

One of the only special card I have from the Joe Jusko Marvel Masterpieces 1992.

All my cards still in plastic folders...some yellowing oreldi.. tongue.gif

Nice collection of insert cards. Yes, I know about Wal-mart or K-Mart special cards subset for this Fleer x-Men series 1. But the sets are quite expensive cos they are only fund in the States.

U have Joe Jusko Marvel Masterpieces 1992 - Spidey vs Venom. I used 2 have the full sets but now only Wolverine vs Sabretooth left. Tempted to get the set from ebay. The new inserts sets are quite nice too but unfortunately none of the comic's speciality shop are bringing in the cards anymore.

I see u have 2 Magnetos coloured hologram. I managed to complete the sets when they 1st came out here. Here's the Wolverine 3-D card from the same set.
*
I stopped collecting for a long time and when I "woke up", there are so many trading cards series which I missed out. Even Mind Shop stopped bringing in those trading cards due to poor sales. Unless its 20 years back. smile.gif

I used to have a set of X-Men series 2 but sold them back then. Then when I went to UK a few years back, went to a small comics and toys fair and found some stalls selling loose trading cards. I spotted Magneto and each was selling UKP 2.5 only. Got em plus other special inserts which I didnt get. Your Wolvie 3D card is the very hard to find one. Sweet!! drool.gif

I will highly consider to get the 1st Marvel Masterpieces Joe Jusko set. The only set I have is the Hildebrant series.

Ironically, Wolverine was my last missing piece and I got it from my UK trip.

X-Men chromium but all the normal cards turned yellowish...i guess must be due to the oily substance which I felt when opening all the packets. Only special cards escape this legacy virus.. tongue.gif

I store all my special inserts in a ring file. The rest of the normal cards in their trading card boxes...not sure if those are filled with silverfish oreldi...lol.

Trading cards is fun. The thrill of getting a pack and then the surprise of knowing the contents. And there are cards with character profile and power statistics whereby we can challenge our friends.

And special inserts are fun...back then all sort of gimmicks...chromium, prism, then 3D foil, glow in dark, gun powder crap, 3D holo, embossed...we name it.

Jim LEE and MArc Sil....masters of illustrated babes...anti-gravity boobs...lol.

Swimsuit edition are great to collect.. i have 1 from image comics featuring babes from Wildcats, stormwatch, cyberforce...  i wonder who started the Swimsuit thingy 1st.. marvel or image?
*
I remember the 1st comic swimsuit magazine I got was Image swimsuit no. 1 (cover featuring Voodoo in skimpy bikini with centrefold being Farenheit in sexy fishnet suit drool.gif ), then Image swimsuit no.2, then Wildstorm Swimsuit. I know there is marvel swimsuit but dun remember which came out first. Top Cow also had a lingerie magazine too. drool.gif

And back to JIM LEE trading cards, at one time Marvel offer four issues of comic sized magazine featuring all the artwork of that series.

I like Adam Hughes too, whatever babes he draws are BIG....nak gonna milky explode onto the readers face. Others i like would be Jim Balent..yummy Catwoman. thumbup.gif

Ah yes, the Marvel 2099 universe. I dun think this was a success back then. I collected comics and trading cards from 1990 to 2000. Then I hibernate a little before the TF comics rejuvenated me. But now I only selectively pick up titles and dun mind buying tradepaperbacks.

Ron Lim...yeap he drew silver surfer back then like no one else. Heck I still have his Marvel Universe 4 DIAMOND COMICS Promo purple hologram card.

Bro, the sh*tty part was that this special card subset form a picture which is already widely promoted. Only comes with foil etched and some cards only have little foil on them. U got to complete this picture or else having one two card which can throw aside lo.

Hmm...some of those cards I used to have until I sold off someone very close to me....so close. hmm.gif icon_idea.gif

Yup, started when MindSHop was at Uptown, when traffic was two ways. Also Final Frontier at Damansara Jaya (beside Public Bank) where I bought most cards and toys from.

Other would be Mindshop Subang, then DCM Enterprise (I remember da boss charges a fee for ppl to view his "awesome" collections in his room) and Comics Corner Subang.

Used to buy trading cards from that comic shop in Atria and another one at Taman Tun (same row as Domino) but they closed down long time.

Hah..maybe I sold trading cards to you before.

I used to visit Earth 638 at Atria but didnt go to their new place at Kelana Mall yet.

U got another set of the Marvel Masterpiece 2 specials?

I must be the oil thingy on those special cards esp chromium that make the cards gone bad. My Image creators set specials all goners. Only those traditional specialcards produced by Comic Images and Skybox are spared.

I used to have the whole complete X-Men 2 color hologram set but sold off the set to fund the hobby. Now left with 2 magnetos. Heck, i even fed up to complete the Gold Foil 30th anniversary specialsubset..tongue.gif

BTW the 3D holograms on my X-men Fatal Attractions comics are still looking good.

My 1st comic was X-Factor issue 40.

Then comics collecting started full time with X-Men Jim Lee issue 1. Looked back for those Uncanny X-Men drawn by Jim Lee.

1st trading card was Jim Lee x-Men.

Other artists i like are Chris Bachalo, Joe Mad, Marc Silvestri, Jim Balent Mike Turner and those who draw babes like our fantasy dream girls. Too bad Joe Mad turned to dark side and ended BAttlechasers abruptly.

Back then RM 1 for a trading card was expensive to our pocket money. I wont spend more than RM 5 for a special card but sometimes I may after taking into account the time and effort to look for one.

Actually the kids are into trading cards too....thanks to Animal Kaiser series. One card at RM 3, I see parents offloading tokens to their kids to play endlessly. Back then RM 3 for a pack of cards le...lol.

I may be wrong but there are silver and gold holo versions for that special JimLee X-Men cover A to D. I spotted it at Mind SHop Damansara Utama many year back. Back then was RM 99.90 and that sum was a BIG sum back then. It was cling to the glass cabinet where the trading cards are displayed.

Me and the Mind shop staff always tikam the trading cards until we can narrow down which packs have special cards. DC special inserts on top...hmm, i remembered Marvel Masterpiece last two packs have special inserts.

Abt 10 years back, there are those trading cards vending machine at selected shopping malls in Klang Valley and KL. If lucky can find those Marvel special cards for sale. RM 3 - 5 only.

You are resourceful. Managed to locate another hologram card which looked like gold relection. Do you have the silver version?

So far I do not know any shops still bringing in comics related trading cards. Now mostly are those anime gaming cards. I almost gone into Gundam War trading cards cuz the illustrations of the mechas are nice. Unfortunately some series are expensive and to get mecha cards are quite hard. Most of time i'll score event or items cards...yuck!

For my Jim Lee X-men, I bought 2 boxes of 36 packs. Each pack has 6 cards (sometimes get 7 cards). Total 216 cards per box. But only managed to create one set of 100 cards with complete specials. The balance 111 cards are extras. Keeping aside till end of year before I open my 2nd box.

My next wishlist would be Marvel Masterpiece Joe Jusko.

Sometimes we are tempted to buy cards or something beyond our means or within our means but becos we buy something expensive, we end up not being able to buy something else (does this statement make any sense?biggrin.gif)

Like me, starting early this month, I've purchased from ebay Marvel Universe Series 2 & 3 hologram sets. Then I bought X-Men Jim Lee hologram set. Before that it was Joe Jusko's Marvel Masterpiece etched 5-card set (Battle Spectra Cards). Day before yesterday, I bought Marvel Universe Series 1 hologram set. I also bought something else which is Ultraman related & some autographs item by my most favourite band. And last weekend found out that Quiksilver is having a "Buy whatever amount & we'll give you back vouchers of the same amount" & bought A LOT of Quiksilver items. Damn I need to stop this spending spree biggrin.gif

BTW, Joe Jusko's Marvel Masterpiece is one of the best sets ever!! And yes I have the silver version of X-Men #1 Retailers Appreciation. Yunno what, come to think of it, I might've seen the Gold version then or my mind is playing tricks again.

Added on March 20, 2012, 3:14 pmBTW again - Where did you get 2 boxes of Jim Lee X-Men cards? Bought them online or you bought them when it 1st came out in 1992?

Added on March 20, 2012, 11:10 pmReceived Marvel Universe Series 2 hologram sets today. Will upload photos soon.

Got them from Amazon.com ard Oct last year. I first bought these cards in 1992..tikam kaw kaw from Mind Shop Dsara Utama..back then no funds to buy whole box. Then sold off to fund other passion. Now the fever is back.

That X-men hologram was spotted at Mind Shop Dsara Utama and Subang Jaya outlets, always teasing me under the glass cabinet. Way out of my budget that time.

I started collecting comics ard the same time Jim Lee X-Men came to our market. Before that I did bought COMICS IMAGES Uncanny X-Men trading cards but they were more like reprints of Jim Lee artworks from the comics onto smaller trading cards. No special inserts but lucky ones get Jim Lee signature card.

Jim Lee X-Men from Impel was at RM 2.50 back then. When sold out, had to go DCM Enterprise to buy.

There are many marvel trading cards which Mind SHop and Comics Corner didnt brought in cuz that time they were focusing on game cards like MAGIC and basketball/ baseball/ US sports cards. Of course the fever subside. Then POKEMON, YUhiGo and all sorts of game cards.

But my love is still for comics trading cards. I remember Marvel Flair when it first came out. I think its RM 10 a pack which looks like a ciggarette box. Or was it Rm 20?

I used to keep all the designs for many years until fungus started to grow on them that I threw them away. Your pics brings back alot of memories. I bought most trading cards from Final Frontier cuz they have more variety and slighty cheaper than Mind Shop.

Those days magazines like PREVIEWS, AdVANCE Comics, WIZARD or HERO Illustrated etc offers many nice freebies including awesome trading cards. I only have Magneto preview holo but couldnt get my copy of the venom holo. Art by Ron Lim. I think he drew X-Men 2099 comics as well.

Nice hauls to add to your collection. Hopefully one fine day we could meet up for yamcha and look at each of our card collection.

Yamcha? Sounds like an idea. Mayhaps we should. Then we can "show-off" our collections  biggrin.gif . I mean, what's the point of having all these if we can't share amongst fellow collectors?

We need to expand the "fellowship". Try to lure out all Non-Sports Card Collectors & get together for Yamcha. I'm pretty sure there are still collectors whom are keeping their cards or rather collecting dust & would be glad to share their experience & their collections. And maybe we can start collecting again by ordering cards in cases or bulk & trade with each other. Its just a thought. Pretty sure its an uphill task.

Now my next target would be these sets.

01. 1996 Fleer Ultra X-Men Wolverine Holoflash 9-card set
02. 1994 Fleer Ultra X-Men Greatest Battles Limited Edition 6-card set

Added on April 12, 2012, 6:54 pmVery quiet this thread is.... Hmmmmm...

I didnt get to buy that wolverine cards, were they available at our local back then?

The greatest battles card should be from K-mart or some store packs specials. We only got the 9-card foil plus the 6 card fatal attractions set.

Was going thru ebay to search new cards & bumped into this set. Look at the many levels of subsets & special inserts.

2011 UD Marvel Beginnings

There are 42 different holograms in the product, seeded at a rate of 1:72 packs. That makes the odds of finding any one hologram approximately 1:10 cases and therefore ensuring that these cards have tremendous value.

n There are 60 different Micro Motion cards, and these are seeded at approximately 1:2 packs. These cards feature a clear, etched lentricular technology that give the cards a bit of motion.

n Die cut cards will be found in any pack that does not have a micro motion card.

n Look for randomly seeded 1 of 1 press plate cards!

n No single artist will be sketching more than 99 total cards, therefore ensuring a wide variety of looks and works

n This release is HOBBY ONLY

I think its produced in conjunction with Marvel Blockbuster Movies.
