welwitchia
nolah -.-" its ok , but if u r new in DSLR ,u might give a look on Canon 50mm F1.8 ,economic and nice ,ard RM280
*
wow this is far cheaper than the nikkor 50mm f/1.8

QUOTE(welwitchia @ Sep 29 2006, 10:38 PM)
Wait, wait...a Canon lens that only cost RM280? Can i say that if the focal length is fixed and its  a non-zoom lens, the lens u mentioned below is called a prime lens? If so, is it gonna be better than my kit lens?
*
;p it is good at the DOF

Answering your Question here welwitchia ...

Choosing your lenses can be entirely subjective especially if you have a budget or if you have your own reasons for doing so. I personally would want all my lenses to be L-lenses due to performance, build and quality issues and I would want nothing less.

I will choose the Canon EF 17-40mm F4L primarily becoz it's an L-lens, it's weather sealed and its build quality. For RM400 difference I won't wanna argue!

Oh another thing ... the 17-40mm comes with pouch and hood, 17-85mm tarak! tongue.gif

Ok sifus, I read that the 30D has a 100,000-cycle shutter. Does this measure how many pics the 30D can take before it "kongs" and needs servicing?

Absolutely correct, but I think it should kong off before 100,000 blush.gif
Documented shutter life is never accurate. The 300D kong-ed slightly after 11,000 when documentation said it can last about 20,000 (if I am not mistaken?). My friend's 1st batch D70 kong-ed after 2000+ tongue.gif

Get ready after the 1st 10K ... and it's wear and tear ... I've not heard of a D70 owner replacing the shutter for free under warranty, yet.

my previous d50 had 30613 shutter counts... and counting

so for a 30d's 100,000 shutter count is still believable

how to know when the shutter is broken?

Liver starts to fail, lungs start to fail, breathing difficulties, and it will die JUST when you're about to shoot some girls in BIKINI.
