Steam account for EVE Online is on sale now. Freaking bloody cheap.

RM9.50 to start a new one.
Price of subscription for 1 year: RM187 (~RM15.50/month)

Whoever has money to burn and wanna get an/multiple alt(s) for your main account, here's your chance.

*For comparison,
Price of subscription for 1 year regular account: 131.40 USD (~10.95 USD/month)

Haih the price is really tempting but too lazy to start new toon. What's the downside of having the account on steam though?

In the EVE Online Rhea release, the first Tech 3 Tactical Destroyer will be introduced to New Eden. The Confessor is just the first of four all new Tech 3 Tactical Destroyers with the ability to switch between defensive, speed, and sniper modes. This video demonstrates those mode transformations.

Well for some of us who already have accounts directly with CCP, having steam meant we might have to download twice during patch day >.< I haven't really experimented the suggested methods to overcome this so if anyone knows, please share.

For those of you who are new or thinking of joining this game, don't worry too much and just subs from steam. The gist of it is, steam is currently cheaper plex wise and subs wise so no point worrying about the future (selling chars). Even if you want to sell characters, just use steam, start a new char with trial account directly with CCP and use your steam account to buy plex to train. It'll still be cheaper and you'll still need a steam account (to buy cheap plex).

Anyway fly safe.

PS: Veterans of Eve, please consider joining HNL to help us out, just give me/Occitane/Sinie a holler if you want to join.

OMG this is brilliant, in fact with the plex pricing in our currency it's cheaper to continue our subs for CCP account with plex (for long term subscription plan). No wonder the plex price are dropping now.

After you purchase EVE on Steam, and it's available for you to install through Steam, don't install it. Instead, navigate to your steamapps\common folder, and manually create a folder called "EVE Online" without the quotes of course. Now, navigate to your standalone EVE installation in C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE (assuming Windows 7), and copy everything from inside that folder into the folder you just created. Then go ahead and install EVE from the Steam library. It should notice the files, and will only need to download a few MB worth of data for the installation to become usable.

This I copied from Steam Eve Online forum found via Google. It should work hopefully for vets who wanted a Steam account.

based on the EVE sales history, 6 plex is enough to get discount sub until the next sale on eve.

Hi there. Because of the sale, I'm gonna buy an EVE subscription on Steam. Probably going to start with Minmatar. Not gonna be playing til like mid December though (exams), so what should I set to train since I have about 15-20 days of training to fill before I can really start playing?

Looking forward to playing with you guys in future, hahah.

use Certificates as your skill guide line. Pick Military - Soldier (Minmatar) cert.

Not sure how steam works but I think the subs countdown work immediately on the day you bought it. Maybe others can clarify

I'll suggest focus on the core skills, these skills applies to any ships you'll pilot. (this would be on the assumption you'll be doing PVE/PVP combat, mining/industry/trading would require different skill set)

Core skills:
- Powergrid management
- CPU management
- Capacitor management, capacitor emission system
- Navigation
- Targeting management, signature analysis
- (Any other advance skills from "Engineering, Navigation, Targeting" skill-group, order them in a way you think which will be more useful to you first)

Weapon skills: (Assuming you're using minmatar ships with emphasis on projectile weapons)
- Small projectile turret (for enhancing autocannon/artillery turrets)
- Any skills that affects "turret" weapons from the Gunnery skill-group

Defense skills:
- Look into Armor and Shield skill-group. Focus only on one of them in the early stage. (Calling for Minmatar vets to guide him on this, I'm no Min pilot)

Skill training tips:
- DO NOT rush to pilot big badass ships like Battleships until you have the core/support skills trained up. Rushing for big ships is equivalent to upgrading your "real life" fishing ship into aircraft carrier ship, but that aircraft carrier has no radar, no fighters, no combat boat, etc. Just a useless aircraft carrier hull floating in the sea waiting to be sunk by others.
- There's no need to rush for max each skill (Level 5) unless you're very sure you want it to be. It only takes about 20% of total time to train for 80% skill efficiency (Level 4).

the sub will start on the day you bought them.

as for useful skilz to train - depend on your play style. but getting them to 4 is enough in most cases but getting them to 5 is highly encourage as they unlock additional new skill to learn and also unlock the t2 items which is better (mainly ammo)

if you are just started find a way to make isk that is fun to you that does not feel like a grind or better still join a corp.

BEWARE OF SCAMMER AND AWOXER.

joining a corp will help you tremendously (get a ts3 client for voice com - typing can be tedious).

you can look for same TZ corp or those that has presence 23/7 in all TZ.

Ahhh. Thanks for all the advice, mrhulk, sumjs and Z1gy. I set my skills to train for about 20+ days, hahaha. Got about 80% of what you guys mentioned down. Thanks, I'll see you guys in a couple weeks.

I'm Koda Sandeval in game, if you're interested.
