Demmit i tried to update mine to lollipop but i think it got soft bricked. Keep having error of "Firmware upgrade encountered and issue..." and I cant get into recovery mode.

I suppose I need to use Odin to flash with stock rom?

It's ok if you download other country's firmware. It's the same. I myself downloaded the Russian firmware and it worked fine.
That's for I9505. I'm guessing he wants I9500 so this won't work for him  icon_rolleyes.gif

Other country is ok as long as is 9500... icon_rolleyes.gif

Thailand's firmware works the best for me (I9500); super minimal bloatware. Have tried Chinese, Russian & Indian rom, all were too bloaty to my liking with unnecessary apps.

Lollipop seems to be consuming way more battery juice than my earlier 4.3 jb.

Had to ready a powerbank for recharge if use slightly more extensively while previously can still last a day or near a day with the same amount of usage. The battery also quite degraded already.

However the improvement to my widgets, touchwiz hang and other earlier problems are worth it. Speed seems to be almost similar or even slightly smoother. Probably moving all my apps from partial SD card storage to the base memory during the upgrade helps.

Yup. There's a few essential Samsung apps and Google apps, that's it.. A few of em are quite useful. And of course you can disable any of them (not uninstall).

Unfortunately they are still there. ChatOn, S Health and the likes. Apparently you still need root to get rid of em permanently.

Why need to factory reset ?? Nor necessary unless you had issues. Downgrading back from lollipop to kitkat you would need reset if phone goes into bootloop. Select reset from phone recovery mode to do that - everything including all your added files will be wipe clean

Usually 80% of the time sure will end up with bugs. My past experiences with official ROM are 100% bug-filled one shakehead.gif shakehead.gif
