i would like to ask a question, need an honest review and comment here... though the VTEC engine is more powerful, will the City be more fuel efficient if compared with other 1.5 cars? can i compare it with the Perodua Myvi 1.3 Auto? (sorry for mentioning othe car here)
how many points will u give for the City VTEC from 1 - 10 points? and how many will u give for the City iDSL from 1 - 10 points?
can tell me more bout the car pls? the pros and cons on VTEC and IDSL?
The fuel efficiency on the VTEC engine seems pretty okay to me, considering when the low fuel indicator lights up (with a balance of 7-8 litres of petrol in tank) i usually would be able to obtain between 450 - 500km of mileage. The I-DSI would usually be able to clock about 50 - 100km more mileage compared to the VTEC.
With regards to power, i think the City is pretty good overall for both the I-DSI and VTEC due to the CVT. Both the engines are designed for different purposes in mind. One more those who want excellent fuel consumption, the other for those who'd prefer better power with less concern on fuel efficiency. But the VTEC still manages pretty good fuel consumption, so you can't go wrong with either models.
I have the Hyundai Accent 1.5 Auto and Perodua Myvi 1.3 Auto at home and have test driven the Nissan Sentra 1.6 Auto as well and I must say that I still prefer my Honda City VTEC. The quality built of the Nissan Sentra is pretty good and solid though.
4th Generation: VTEC | I-DSI
Interior: Black | Beige
HP on Engine : 110hp | 88hp
Rear Brakes : Solid Discs | Drums
CD-Player: Kenwood 50Wx4 CD-MP3 Player | Blaupunkt Miami Beach (if i'm not mistaken) 50Wx4 CD Player
Meters: Self-illuminating meters (aka Optitron meters) | Normal meters
Rear seats: Bottom seat drawers but no foldable seats | Foldable seats but no bottom seat drawers
Both has foldable side-mirrors, ABS and dual-airbags and 15" alloy rims. Comes with 40,000km or 2 years free maintenance warranty (whichever comes first) meaning all parts and labour would be free. Also comes with 100,000km or 3 years warranty on parts (whichever comes first).

I'd like to talk about this power / horsepower issue on the I-DSI that has often given it quite a rough image that it would be underpowered compared to other cars of the same displacement.
The City packs quite a lot of technology within it and thus the I-DSI although it's engines rated horsepower is 88hp, it will still be good. Why? What's important is the amount of power/torque transferred to the wheels. As we all know, not all the power from the engine gets transferred due to power loss due to the airconditioner, transmission, steering and all that. Now, this is why the power on the I-DSI and VTEC is good.
The City has Electronic Power Steering (EPS) meaning it is non-hydraulic (no fluid

) and that has saved quite a good amount of power loss. The City also has a CVT transmission that is without a torque converter which means, less power loss again. Some of you may have experienced your City rolling back on a slope and power taking a while to be transferred, and this is the reason why. No torque converter. Two of these factors itself reduces quite a good amount of horsepower to be transferred from the engine to the wheels.
Toyota Vios, Nissan Sentra, Hyundai Accent, Perodua Myvi, and many others comes with conventional auto gearboxes and hydraulic steerings. and thus takes up quite an amount of horsepower from the engine.
Just my opinion.. cheers!
