Hi izso,

how do you do your flush oil? When changing your oil, you let it drain all out thru the drain plug, then plug it back and pour all your left over "new" oil into the car, run it for 10 mins? and then drain it all out? and then put in the NEW 5 liter can of your preferred brand?

Do you put any engine flush additive to let it run with your so called "new" blended oil?

Looking for ways to breathe new life into my engine..

Depends on your budget. Personally I do this :

1. Drain old oil, retain oil filter.
2. Fill cheap oil / mixed oil + engine oil flush (I use bluechem or Penrite engine flush) and run for 10 mins
3. Drain, change oil filter, pour in cheap oil and run again another 10 mins
4. Drain cheap oil, then fill with final fill oil.

The alternative and cheaper method is

1. Without draining any oil, pour in the bluechem engine oil flush. It'll mix with the old oil and form a type of runny oil mixture that'll pour out easily.
2. Drain oil and change oil filter
3. Fill new engine oil.

I've done a test tube test with bluechem flush and it works differently from normal flushes.

0W20 generally is used in the hybrids to allow for easier oil flow which supposedly improves fuel efficiency. Using in your City is ok as well but don't expect performance from this super thin oil. Unless it's made for racing like the ones that quazcolt always uses, don't expect too much from the oil except perhaps better FC (assuming you're very light footed).

Noisier is to be expected like what mayalab said. Pretty much the same idea how some people use thicker oil to quieten their tappet noises, you using something so thin would expect to be noisier.

That's not saying it's bad or can't be used though. It's all personal preference. But if i'm not mistaken, the City manual says to use 30 weight oils. So you should be using 0w30, 5w30 or 10w30. You might find it works better than the 0W20 you're on.

The contact is still applicable bro. Bluechem is in some workshops across Klang valley. I usually go straight to the source

That's a lot of oil you'll be using.. 5l old oil, 5l mixed cheap oil, 5l mixed cheap oil and 5l good oil...

For the engine flush.. Once you drain the oil, you still think that there might be some remnants of old engine flush?

Yeah well, I did say it all depends on your budget and how insane you are. biggrin.gif I've known folks who use Royal Purple as a flush oil since RP has such awesome detergents. They just drain old oil, pour in RP, run it for a few hundred KM, drop the oil and fill with new oil of choice. Works too.

Oil engine flush - that's why I normally run one time with the cheap EO after running the flush. But if you look at how Bluechem works, the quantity of remnant oil would be very low if any at all. And if there was any remnants, the cheap EO flush would get rid of it I should think.

The best time to change the engine oil is when the oil is still warm, it will carry more gunk out when you drain it.

What do you think of people who drain overnight? Not even a droplet left to drip. Yes, overnight. Overkill but I happen to know 2 people who do this (DIY). Oil filter and drain plug left out overnight with the dipstick pulled out and oil cap open. I only hope these folks don't get lizards or roaches roaming in their engines at night. Haha!

TORCO SR1 is already enough for my latest HONDA CITY, or do i need TORCO SR5 ?

You got money? Why not? Better is better no matter how you look at it. But whether necessary or not is totally dependent on your wallet. Got the cash, it's always necessary to use the best of the best (for the brand, not condoning that Torco is the best).
