==> You'll Never Walk Alone <==

http://www.unbase.com/n/5853623009

When you walk through a storm hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark.
At the end of a storm there's a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark.
Walk on through the wind,
Walk on through the rain,
For your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never walk alone.

Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never walk alone.

Interest to see how BR will fare next season with so many signings.

Btw just realized that Liverpool's future strike force might be LOL. Lambert Origi Lallana. laugh.gif

QUOTE(AnythingK @ Aug 4 2014, 09:50 PM)
I am not really that impress with him yet, yea he is well built, he got the physical to play in EPL. But he is slow, and I did not see any vision in him yet, I am still waiting for him to make an impact pass or cross. He got to be more than physique to play consistently in EPL.

Well, he is young, and I only get to see him for few matches, I really hope he could step up and impress us more. I'll comment more when I get to see him more.

And we really can't always find the reason of, young, raw, and wait a few years, if this type of management/formula continue, when will we ever win EPL and CL? Because if the young and raw player really talented, he would be gone for good by the time we are ready to actually win something.

He's going to play in CM so he doesn't need to be exceptionally quick. He does look somewhat sluggish but i put that down to pre season, a lot of players dont look sharp at this time of the year. He played as leftback on occasion in Germany so i'm guessing he's got a decent place in him - you can't play there if you have terrible pace. When i say he's technically decent and can read the game I meant his general ability as a player; his passing, touches, positioning etc. As a CM, he does those things quite well - nothing exceptional like i said but it's good to see that he can do the basics right, for me this indicates how a player will progress. No point having good vision if you can't make a simple pass i.e Spearing or be tactically inept i.e. Jonjo. Vision and composure will come as they gain more confidence and mature as a footballer.

For 10mil or so, he's worth the punt imo because could potentially grow to become another Hendo at half the price. He may or may not leave, no one really knows the future.

We fielded a strong line up after all. Just that lack of a star striker. Lol. Hopefully this wont come back to haunt us this season.

Wow, Sterling and Coutinho had been awesome so far, Sterling as usual great run and dribble, Coutinho too great run and dribble, he even dribble past through 3 players, and he dropped down in the process! Damn, I don't mind splash money to buy this 2 kids!

Johnson as always, shit sHIT SHIT! Can't really count how many times he loses possession, why can't he be a typical defender and FKING CLEAR THE BALL instead of trying and nutmeg people all the time? He think he is Suarez replacement? dafuq is with Johnson really.

Btw, with this performance, we could be 4-0 up if IF Suarez is in it. tongue.gif

Johnson has been his normal self (unforced error) but luckily it is against MU. We'll also unhappy with full back that keep clearing the ball to no where, won't we?

Anyway, good to see the mid table team playing their heart out by tackle Liverpool player here n there but Liverpool still control the game.

agreed, but that's where midfielders and fellow defenders are there for, to receive the pass or to be where the ball is cleared to (according to formation of course)

also, as a defender, he's not supposed to be dribbling all the way to opponent's goal line u know. he often loses ball posession by doing so sweat.gif

obviously he'll never be as mobile as sturridge or suarez.
he was good in the first half at offering for the outlet ball from defence but his passing was a bit off

Do we seriously going to start the season with Sturridge, Lambert, and Borini as our strikers? Lambert is playing like a poor Giroud. Borini, oh god, I don't even know how to say. Only Sturridge is dependable. unsure.gif

Come on, being a fullback, the player must at least know how to read the game, meaning clear when needed, attack when needed. Johnson is trying to attack, dribble through 3 players, when he could just clear away, or even back pass. Seriously, I will really smash my monitor some times in the next season, if Johnson still our regular starter. doh.gif

I can only relieve when BR splash money to buy marquee. If he buy a no name or mid table striker again, then GL Liverpool by depending on Sturridge alone.

Cout, Sterling and Ibe looked good. Ibe will be pushing for a place this season. Needs more game time to sharpen his football intelligence.

All of a sudden, our front end looked blunt! Need a good striker and not back up.

Going down to MU is always a pain, friendly or not. The rivalry and intensity is second to none.

This match will give the management a good look at the squad. Clearly Lambert needs to step up. Pre season or not, he must know that now he wears our red.

With M&M to fill our fullbacks, i think its time for BR to do the final Hurray in our transfer market in getting in a natural striker liao.

Our front definitely looks good with Coutinho in the mid, Ibe right, Sterling left, and Sturridge up front. But Sturridge is injury prone.

Oh right, why don't we convery Markovic into striker? Our opponent will mistaken him as young Messi! laugh.gif

1-3

Worried?

As I said, I won't look too much into the pre season games. Though there are glaring weakness in the departments N it's post suarez. (Though I seriously doubt even if he was on the pitch wouldn't have made much difference to the scoreline or perhaps a little narrower)

It's a good game for Rodgers to analyse. Manu won because it meant more for them. Being 7th last season, out of champion league and they want to prove last season was a sad blip. They have spent to signal their intentions. I think they will do well in the league given no CL games as distractions as we benefitted last season.

I do hope this (pre season mixed results) will be a eye opener where we need to pull our socks for the challenges ahead.

One thing I must hope Liverpool need to be highly alert when we go into champion league (and not stumble early into CL stages) I don't think we wre anywhere good to win it but at least past group stages.

The league? Post Suarez? Hmm let's get top four (first). The likes of Chelsea n manu have bought in their intentions heavily.

If we can replicate the challenge for the title like last season, it will be all the better. Win it? I hope though i think at best top four first. Anything else is a bonus

I think we will be seeing different defensive line up in Dortmund's match as i can see Skertel will be partner with Lovren. From that i will only judge. And full back i want johnson gone ASAP. i prefer to put Moreno at right and Flanno left. These line up give me more confident that today's line up. We are good at MD already. Need a natural striker to finish the job.

I think the pressing when it is done right, should result in at least two goals if not more... then it will difficult for opposition to come back.. we just need to retain possession and see through the game

Truth is we are able to match the salaries being offered by cash rich clubs.

Many excuses were thrown about saying we weren't in champions league last season as a reason to attract players. Hog wash, I see calibre players going to club that is out of CL. It's about money.

I don't even think the reason of bright lights big city plays a lot in a players desicion (yes, probably a little but lesser piority versus how much is being pocketed in his account (top piority))

I know they are professionals, giving as much as they can in games, reasons I stated, for manu, reasons above and for LVG. Tough disciplinarian and no nonsense. Not suggesting Rodgers is anything weaker than LVG, different styles. Rodgers is 'more' approachable I guess given the remarks from players.

For us it's a game against the scums, yes. But for reasons the said form of 2 halves. Good in first, hollow in second

Yea, that's part of my point, so I'd say we lose it fair and square, and we lose it with our almost full squad, only minus Sturridge and Markovic, and maybe the new comers that still not yet confirm.

Btw, don't mistaken my point here, I am not saying end of the world bla bla, so don't quote me and say those nonsense. I am just saying from this match, its clearly prove that we miss Suarez/a good striker, many department needed improvements, and Johnson need to ship out as soon as possible.

BR is very clear on the way he wants the team to play. Press high and fast paced footie. Players coming in will need to adapt to the style.

Cout needs to polish his finishing. If he can improve that, we'll have another 10+ goals from midfield. Sturridge needs to be fitter and less injury prone while Lambert ..... WE ARE NOT SOTON! It's another level and we don't need another Aspas. Maybe we should retire the no 9. Not very ong for us! tongue.gif

Mig is another letdown. His distribution is so poor! Almost like a headless chicken kicking the ball to nowhere.

Anyway, it's a good pre-season so far. Positive to see Ibe played well and Sterling is progressing well.

Pre-season or not...

A game against MU will ALWAYS be a MUST-WIN game.

And under LVG, they aren't the joke they were last season under Moyes, make no mistake about that.

This will be a tough season for us. Alot of game and no marquee signing yet.

Someone mentioned manu won all their preseason big games against big teams.

For one as I mentioned, it's their new manager, totally new approach for them. Though It's not an excuse for other clubs esp us to lose to manu. I still think they came off hungrier in that sense.

More for us to prove in 1 to 1 against them in the league.

In regards to lambert. I think it was mentioned he offers as plan b against certain teams that we felt difficult to penetrate. We won't be abandoning our approach to games (,generally speaking) most of the time

This game vs ManU showed that we might have a good midfield (more so when the full team assembles) but it will mean not much if our frontmen don't take their chances. ManU took theirs and deserves the win. We could have disappeared in the 1st half (2nd pen denied) but Lambert just don't cut it against big teams (hopefully I'm wrong). Maybe he's still in awed for wearing our shirt but he needs to snap out of it.

Backline looked shaky at time, unbelieveable at times. It's very inconsistent and some of the passes back to Mig invites trouble; esp when Mig can't play the ball out effectively.

As of now, we lost to our bitter rival. What we need is a reliable RB, and maybe a sharp shooter. Fitness level upped a few notches and when the season starts, we MUST be ready to get out the block as fast as we could.

All players must know honeymoon or whatever post WC shit is over.

well, this is exactly what i meant when i said Lucas is still needed in this squad to add balance. with the attacking quality we currently have, they just need to build around that, perhaps 1 more promising striker? but i still think we need at least 1 more convincing defender as well! hopefully Carra is right when he said that Lovren is the best man to take his place flex.gif

I say 3 games into the league.. If we arent in the top four mix. Then we know where we are heading!! Last season we were surprised we won our first 3 and that gives momentum and believe.

So i believe the same path... Slow start means we are doomed. Hopefully we can.. From 2nd place to be champions ... Never seen before from the last 4 managers! Hope Brenda breaks the jinx!

Final friendly match is this Sunday vs Dortmund.

Let see how Lovren lead the backline, hopefully Moreno and Manquillo able to join the game.

well, this is exactly what i meant when i said Lucas is still needed in this squad to add balance. with the attacking quality we currently have, they just need to build around that, perhaps 1 more promising striker? but i still think we need at least 1 more convincing defender as well! hopefully Carra is right when he said that Lovren is the best man to take his place flex.gif

I would prefer to have a completed rather than a promising one tongue.gif

If you want promising ask BR to cancel the loan deal of Origi laugh.gif

Just hope Liverpool can splash all the remaining fund, and buy a proven top quality striker, and not another young talent, and hoping him to shine, we can't afford that.

what's the striker available in the market that actually hungry for more playing time? I am sure any above average strikers can be our starting XI anytime he joined us when we delpoying 3 strikers upfront.

Goals can come from various sources but for me the most concerning issue is our fullbacks. This has been a problem for a couple seasons now.

All the top teams have at least one good attacking fullback. We have none at the moment. Glenn looks the shadow of his former self, expecting a good game from him is getting more rare these days. Flanno is a decent player but he cant cross to save his life. Kelly lacks mobility, and I've no idea what's going on with Enrique.

Getting at least one good fullback will kill 2 birds with one stone as they will not only boost our attacking play but also improve our defensive game.

Aren't we already completed the move for Moreno? If its really completed, then I not really worry with fullback issue anymore. What I mean there is without Johnson, so its Moreno + Flanno/Kelly/Enrique.
And there are really no other good fullbacks on the market now.
I'd more concern with our striker department, Sturridge is injury prone, can you imagine what will happen when Sturridge injured? Lambert or Borini will lead the front, oh god I can't imagine any further.

Let's put things in proper perspective :
1) It's a pre-season game and many important players were missing from this game : Sturridge, Lallana, Markovic; we can even add Lovren.
2) Man Utd had a lot to prove - both manager and players; winning this friendly tournament may be a two-edged sword i.e. they may think that they are now back to their best.
3) Of course, we lack bite in our front line (oops!) but we had about three great chances and could have finished the game off. Clearly, we should have got at least another penalty!
4) Man U's first goal was bad - the cross should not have been allowed in, and both Skrtle and Mig should have done better
5) Man U's second goal was a very fortunate deflection, otherwise Mig would have saved it as he got it covered.
6) The last goal is a fiasco and typical of what could happen when a team is pressing for an equalizer.
Yes, we lost but it is not something to be unduly worried about. I've seen enough to be of the opinion that we would continue doing well this season.
Nevertheless, our strikers and midfielders have to sharpen up in front of goal and everyone must become capable of shooting on target. I was particularly happy to see the shot from Kelly in the first half.
The toughest part of BR's job is in how best to utilize the players we now have, especially in midfield.

Nah we haven't completed Moreno. Talks are still ongoing. Ofcourse getting another striker is important and i do think we will get another striker. But without Suarez, team performance is even more paramount now so it's important that we have all positions covered. The fullbacks are two positions where i feel we are weakest at the moment. We have at least one good striker in Sturridge, but no real threat from our fullbacks. With good fullbacks we should be able to overload more frequently and provide more service to our forwards, and hopefully improve our defensive game.

The need for a star striker was highlighted as soon as suarez left but most ppl said marquee not needed but an overall unit,we dont buy stars we make them and all those idealistic bull crap.

Without that star striker forget the league, top is 4 is looking more bleak.

midfield is jam pack now, unless he is a world class gooding, i dun think he can break into XI real soon. I think he will only do a season loan to Sevilla on Moreno's deal. Where Aspas was a compulsory permanent deal after 1 season loan with 6m pound.

Sad to see Reina go, shame how it all ended. He was an amazing keeper during his finer days under Rafa. But we will be freeing up 100k wage so that's something to look forward to, hopefully it means we are getting a quality outfield player.

Sad to see Reina go, shame how it all ended. He was an amazing keeper during his finer days under Rafa. But we will be freeing up 100k wage so that's something to look forward to, hopefully it means we are getting a quality outfield player.

before, i gonna ask why last thread had been closed?
for suso i think BR should keep him since he is in good form now
same with ibe. he played really good during pre season. really have a feeling that he will be our future star
why not giving them a first team chance?
but yes after u list out our mf, its pack now
has reina departed?

Last tered /kolosed coz already over 2500 posts liao...first day in LYN meh?
Reina departure is imminent., Agger is also in the market, heard that Arsenal is asking for his available, but doubt we will sell him to our rivial. Borini and Assaidi still hanging. Lucas, Rafa want to loan, but LFC want to sell.

all names stated will go.

Lfc is building with a younger crop of players (& with lesser salaries)

with the building of the new extension of the stadium gets underway, LFc is minimising risk should we fail to meet targets of another europe (hopefully not) of target of achieving trophies.

Almost to say 'with lower burden', Lfc hope to achieve & go on as many fronts. weather of not it succeeds, at least its with minimal risk

I think LFC will go on Arsenal mode in next few year? Achieving UCL while can sustain club finance.

I'm fine with Suso going on loan, just as long as he's not part of a permanent deal to bring over Moreno. He's worth more than 5mil imo. He's one of the players who i feel has a bright future. He's technically gifted and has venomous left foot. Like Coutinho, he's a natural talent when it comes to tight spaces - all due to his incredible footwork.

The thing that is obviously lacking in his game is that he's missing a bit of aggression. This is something Brendan wants in all his outfield players. Look at Coutinho for example; a creative playmaker but also a feisty player who's not afraid to get stuck in. Our system requires the players to press aggressively and fight for 50/50, and Suso doesn't look like he has it in him - at least not at the intensity required.

The bolded part is contradicting, so it will not happen.
So Liverpool fans is going to suffer like what Arsenal fans had been suffering for the past 9 years? shocking.gif

Wenger is the clear example, generating huge amount of income for the club every year, qualifying for CL every year, but will never win a silverware. Its superb for the club owner, but hell for the fans and the players.

Nurturing young talent > young talent become top class > another big/rich club with ambition eyed on the young talent > young talent leave club to achieve trophy. The cycle will never end.

Sigh, its sad to see Reina leave, until today I still prefer Reina over Mignolet, its not fair to Reina, when he only have 1 bad season then everyone trying to erase him. He's a good stopper like Mignolet, but he possess the distribution skill which not many keeper have.

And Suso too, another young talent that going to be wasted, I can foresee that once he reach his peak during loan spell, there will be many club looking for his signature. sad.gif

i mean we can gain more profit but just dun use the arsenal way
we can still keep the young talent
or we will win silverware
dun u like tat liverpool has a modern stadium and can gain greater profit so we can have bigger spending power in the future?
bayern muenchen is another example. they are gaining more profit while still can keep their young talent and win trophies
just hope it works for liverpool tho i know its not that easy
anw it just my opinion as a fan
a fan that want his favourite club doing well + winning trophies

wanted to give you to spin the totem to see if you are still dreaming. err i think it will still spin endlessly.

there will be no alonso. we have a a midfield that runs from one end to the port. jam packed already tongue.gif

I read the reports that we seriously need to replace the 'irreplaceable'. ALL past occasion when the team sold their 'best player' (& not carefully replacing him) resulted a disaster season ahead. The only saving grace example was when we had aldridge (luckily) who netted goals after we sold ian rush.

Supposedly no other teams in recent history was able to better its previous season (when they had the best player in superb form)

ok, hopefully we don't lose our first game of the season like spurs did (or draw) then the omens might be different sweat.gif

Don't forget that among the main reason arsenal is making healthy profit is the high price of their ticket. And they can do that because they're in london

Wohoo! Now we have Moreno(IF the deal succes), Enrique as the natural left back. Manquillo, Flanno, and Kelly as the natural right back.
Not to mention all of them can be swap, to play on either flank.

SO! so! Can we release Johnson now?

And..and....can we get a marquee striker now? Since the full back department that you guys had been worrying all this times is pretty stable now. Although I never watch either Manquillo or Moreno play, so can't determine whether they are another shit fullback like our previous on loan black guy, who is that again? I can't even remember his name. laugh.gif

Half marquee Lavezzi is fine, Reus is bonus. Can I hope? Can I wish? notworthy.gif

Releasing Glen means paying compensation, right? Better sell him for £1 inclusive of taxi fare.

Sad to see Reina go, shame how it all ended. He was an amazing keeper during his finer days under Rafa. But we will be freeing up 100k wage so that's something to look forward to, hopefully it means we are getting a quality outfield player.
*
Yes! Very truly said. I myself regard him as the best goalkeeper of all time =) Well, at least for me.
Considering the fact, where he has 47% clean sheet probability (Liverpool appearances: 285)

From OptaJoe:
"Since his Premier League debut in August 2005, no goalkeeper has kept more clean sheets than Pepe Reina (134)"

QUOTE(winstonst @ Aug 6 2014, 11:36 AM)
before, i gonna ask why last thread had been closed?
for suso i think BR should keep him since he is in good form now
same with ibe. he played really good during pre season. really have a feeling that he will be our future star
why not giving them a first team chance?
but yes after u list out our mf, its pack now
has reina departed?
*
Why not given them 1st team?
Mind you, here in Liverpool thread, some lovesssss marquee signing, loveeeee the big player, even loved more prolific signing EVER... they even think the most expensive signing would eventually made us into champions.
Suso? Ibe? Yes, high prospect, but not a big player yet. If we lose a single game when Suso/Ibe being started, prepare for POSTS SPAM, as such "could have won the game if we had Reus!", "nvr sign a marquee player during transfer window" and so on. wink.gif You know who you are, i dont need to mention it here.

Anyway, back to business, yes thats what i hope so bro.
Playing minutes in the first team counts for them, and i hope it will happen for them.
But people always forget, Ibe is still 18, and Suso is 20. Still young tongue.gif

Well, sad but Pepe really must go. Burnt his bridges. His fall from grace has been spectacular. He's still one of my fav goalie; missed his excellent distribution. £2mil is a steal for him. Good luck, Pepe.

Noticed plenty of rumours and news that Suso may be included in the deal for Moreno, is this even real? If its real, I wonder what BR can't see in Suso, and why he thinks Suso can't fit into his system. hmm.gif
Hope not my another favourite players leaving. sad.gif

Nope. 20m for a 29 year old forward that has yet to reach double figures in league goals per season since his Serie A days with Napoli (and that goal total includes penalty duties).

For me he is overrated and famous because PSG overpaid for him as one of the first of many high profile signings since their oil tycoon tookover.

Liverpool are eyeing up a move for Inter striker Mauro Icardi as they look to fill the void left by Luis Suarez.

Brendan Rodgers is keen to add another forward to his squad after Loic Remy failed his medical at the club and he has identified the 21-year-old Argentine as the ideal man to complement Daniel Sturridge up front.

However, reports in Italy claim that Inter president Erick Thohir has no intention of selling Icardi and will not accept any offers for the player.

I some how pressed the panic button. laugh.gif After looking at the performance of Lambert, we desperately need another striker, which is above average, top class would be great.
Well, I not really familiar with his performance for club level, but he did great with Argentina in the world cup.

In 4-3-3 we won't need another one what. Markovic, Lallana, Sterling, Sturridge, Couts to choose from all up front. Then Hendo, Allen, Gerrard, Can, Lucas in holding or more central position. Just because we lost Suarez doesn't mean we're gonna play 4-4-2 diamond again and put Lambert together with Sturridge.

Yes, I'd like another striker and another mroe recognizable midfielder. Heck go get Dani Alves for RB also. But I see how the team is shaping up though. We're not a team of great players but this season we could very well shape up to be a great team of players.

well since the departure of Suarez, strikers are yet to prove themselves in this squad, but to bring in a foreign player who is new to the league is still a gamble. heck, signing a premier league star is also considered as a gamble as they have yet to prove themselves playing with a Liverbird on their chest.

Yes I think Lambert should start as the sole striker. That's what he's for right? A backup. Clearly Lambert can score goals as we saw last season. Maybe the jersey is overwhelming him right now but I believe he'll come good. I'm a little 50:50 on this one. Part of me feels we need another established striker like Benzema/Falcao/Remy but another part of me feels if we did, we'd have a weaker midfield. That part of me feels if the midfield clicks, we could put Reina up front and still score loads.

You got your point there, but I am not really convinced with Lambert after looking at his performance in d pre-season friendly, as well as world cup. For me, he is just another mid table striker.

But tbh, our midfield is loaded currently, and I remember we basically boss the midfield vs MU, but the front wasted lots of chances without converting it.

I totally get what you mean. Sturridge wasn't playing right? Seems like we missed his influence in that game. We do need a finisher...and one of the reasons I think that BR went for Lambert is because of Southampton's playing style. It's quite similar to ours. Suarez slotted seamlessly into that dynamic also and I think he brought out the best in Sturridge through competition.

Falcao looks like a very Suarez-like player but he is also 28 right now. We know we can't get Benzema anymore because he's just extended his contract. I'm not sure if there are many other players equal to Sturridge's ability and around his age.

We definitely missed Sturridge in that game very badly. I do know that Lambert is bring in for backup, but I hope he is the substitution type of backup, and not starting 11 type of backup.

I would say that almost every top class forward will have a near zero chance of joining us. So I'd hope BR could get another forward that can create chances like Suarez, or just a poacher like Sturridge, since we have Cout, Sterling, Lallana, and Markovic to create chance.

But I believe BR will definitely bring in another forward before the windows close, since his target, Remy couldn't join us. Heck, if today is a few days before windows close, I'd say just get Bony. laugh.gif

well personally i think that is due to the player's workrate. he works very hard to get where he is right now. Struj on the other hand, fits well with the team right from the start. we need that kind of fit in a striker at this unfortunate final moments (right before season starts)

edit - its sad that Suarez deal is made AFTER the world cup, because BR was planning well prior to Suarez's departure. should he left the club earlier, i think we'd be in a better position right now sad.gif

Good to hear we've secured Manquillo, and i hope to god we get Moreno too. I feel these 2 players will have a big impact on the team this season.

As for Lambert, he's Aspas replacement. He will play the odd games for us but we shouldn't expect a 4m 32 year old backup striker to have an output of a peak 27 year old continental striker.

Remy would had been perfect for us - he's the closest type of player to Sturridge at a relatively low price and will do the job until Origi matures. But as they say, sometimes the price is too good for a reason.

I still won't rule out the possibility of signing someone prolific, but i won't mind if we end up with Bony.

QUOTE
Daniel Agger has had a tearful heart-to-heart with Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers and asked to leave the club, writes Darren Lewis.

The distraught 29-year-old defender - the Reds’ vice-captain - made his emotional request in a dressing-room exchange during their recent pre-season tour of America.

Agger is now set to be sold, with Barcelona the favourites to land him.

A move to the Nou Camp for the £12million-rated Dane would pave the way for Arsenal’s Thomas Vermaelen to go to Manchester United - his preferred destination.

Agger, who made just 23 appearances in all competitions last season, is understood to have told Rodgers that he fears he is fighting a losing battle to win back a regular place in the side.

The Liverpool boss is understood to have been sympathetic to the player, who then broke down and had to be consoled by senior members of the squad.

Agger then asked to be allowed to leave the tour and was given permission by Rodgers to fly home.

sad.gif I expect him to leave this window but i hope him crying like that is just an exaggeration, hate to see anyone breaks down like that - especially one who has been loyal to us. But we do have better players ahead of him so there's that.

I see fans r panicking now at the prospect of Lambert bombing..well, Rodgers should have know better ...a bit too late to find Suarez's replacement when we should have shop much earlier.

Banking on academy players to get the goals for us? Yea right ..wat a way to prep ur team for the season.

Some may accuse me not not having optimism. But yeah I don't expect us to win the league in coming season nor getting ourselves into the semifinals of champions league.

Top four, and 2nd round of CL. Any more is a bonus

We definitely need to start our campaign on a good high note. A mixed result will see us faltering mid to end season.

So just like the start of last season then ? tongue.gif

For me i'm cautiously optimistic. My expectation last season was to finish top 4, whether or not it was feasible it's besides the point. This season is no different, i expect the team to finish top 4 if we can compete for the title then all the better but years of supporting this team has taught me to manage my expectation.

As for CL, well it all depends on the group - chances are we might struggle especially if grouped with top European elites. There's no way we would walk away unscathed - We haven't been in it for sometime and there are few players who are short of European experience so i expect us to struggle. Dortmund and City didn't even make out of the group when they got back in it so the same challenge lies ahead of us. But we're f***ing back in it! This is what we've been waiting for the past few years and i'll be damned if were to dismiss the team before kick off.

Just sit back and enjoy the ride - it's the least we could all do.

I am, and the panic won't gone until we get our hand on another striker. And I hope he is at least above average.

If we really start the season with Sturridge, Lambert and injury prone Borini, my realistic target and hope would be, Liverpool stays in top 4 after 10 league matches.

Since this is the season we are back into CL, and it will be a big difference with last season, so BR real and actual test will start next season.

top 4 is still a reasonable benchmark. the team is new, its almost an overhaul since BR is bringing in LOADS of new parts into the squad engine (midfielders laugh.gif)

he may try around but hopefully he figures out in time not to let the team slip too far down the league table.

Great striker but he busted his ACL. Very risky imo as players don't usually recover from it. Hopefully it's just for loan and we still getting another striker.

Nonsensical list imo. Dude doesn't know what he's talking about. How can anyone be a hit or a miss before he even kicked a ball ? i.e. Lovren and Lallana. And I like how he dismiss Markovic because we happen to sign him after our efforts to sign Kono. I suppose if we had signed Sanchez, he too would had been a miss. What a moron.

Well he did explain in the page. I m not a big fan of him but the only statement I might agree might be regarding Lambert.

Style play is very important for a players. If players doesnt suit the style play no matter how good or poor he is he is not going to perform.

It's half baked reasoning. He says Lambert lacks pace and movement, well what a surprise. I guess that bit of revelation is new to Brendan too. Obviously he lacks pace but McDim didn't explore his other attributes like his link up play which will come in handy when he plays with McDim's hit boy Lallana. Style of play is important, but everyone knows we have a few style of play in our locker - BR is not stupid enough to force a square peg in a round hole.

Though Barcelona has messi to made them tick, we have sturidge and tada, R a h e e m S t e e r l l l i i i n g!! cool2.gif
Who needs a marquee striker then !?!

He will light up English football like how Owen did early part of the season. Come mid season, defenders will have a go legs first when he doesnt even have the ball. sad.gif

Of course with lambert helping to hold up the link play, I think the blitzerg will continue. Weather or not it will cover the deficit of missing the Suarez goals remains to be seen.

Some say we are linked to falcao. I don't remember him being as nimble and as quick or cunningly foxy like suarez. Though again I'm not putting any money that he or a big marquee player will join us for this early part of the season. If there is a drought (again if we suddenly hit the post spectacularly but no goals) then perhaps we might insert the key and (panic) buy in mid season. But I don't think we will go there honestly.

Not only Ibe, I hope BR will favour Suso next and not sending him out for another loan, or even worse, selling him.

I would love to see Texeira and Ryan McLaughlin in the first team more often too, at least Maclaughlin is better than Johnson.

so we gonna win the league this season? win CL, FA, Carling cup all together yea!

i am only expecting BR to challenge top 4 again this season, so many new faces they need time to gel well with teammates.

Lets enjoy CL could we? i missed those day staying up watching CL moreover this is one of the season we buy so many diff players in. How many total now?

No one will be happy with the purchase, surely we cant expect Lambert a 4mil player to play like Suarez? Just accept the fact Suarez has left, Barcelona already booked him b4 WC and we knew sooner or later.

Sigh active in transfer complain, dont buy also complain lol.. dont get it, we've seen far worst transfer? remember AC?, Konchelsky?, Joe Cole? (100k per week on wage), Milan Jovanovic?, Paulsen? Aquilani (16mil pounds? or something), Voronin? Nunez? many more to go..

Falcao; £12M loan fee and 200k/week (after tax), that's atrocious.

And don't want Cavani in here, he is pants.

Few players out injured and right now we top of injury table with 7 injuries ; Sturridge, Lallana, Markovic, Flanagan, Borini, Assaidi and Ilori. Hope all of them can return on short notice.

still, RM still waiting to poach sad.gif

actually just thinking about this makes me sick. we sell suarez to barca but alexis doesn't wanna come here. sell reina to bayern but shaqiri won't come here. Sigh. Feeder club status. Even Agger potentially might go Barca.

We won't have enough reliable defenders if we sell Agger. Plus, Skrtel & Agger are still one of the best when paired together in defense. I think Sterling can play as a striker, he's quick, nimble, tricky, he is quite clinical now, he's matured as a player and he is good at getting into attacking positions.

this suggestion is actually not that bad. with the current midfield quality, plus Ibe can start filling in Sterling's gap if he plays as a forward, this might just work. hope BR realizes this as well lol tongue.gif

I think it should be the other way around, if I am not mistaken Ibe was playing as striker in the youth team, and BR convert him into wings. So we could just put Ibe as striker, if we can't get anyone to fill in. biggrin.gif

And yea, I felt sick too, thinking Sanchez doesn't wan't to come here even we sell Suarez there, then the same thing for Shaqiri. Sigh, Liverpool really so bad to play with and live in? sad.gif

Suarez no heart to play for us anymore, so why we still crying over this?

agger will either retire or be sold sooner or later, he played too few games for us, and its also sooner or later that we need younger players to come in...

i think we are fortunate enough that we have full internationals in our CB positions now - lovren and sakho. sakho may be a little bit clumsy but i can see him giving 110% everytime he play. also, he's got a great personality. lovren totally no nonsense...

time will tell but its the way to go

Most likely i think we gonna endup with Bony by paying him 20M

I don't mind we getting Bony, since we really desperately need striker now. But 20m is like wtf, thats fuking OP. sweat.gif

He just needs to score more frequently and Barca will come knocking on the door tongue.gif I don't think i've ever seen a Liverpool player ever attempted let alone executed a perfect rabonna pass during a build up. And he's only 22! Still some way before he reaches his peak.

you dont play play. list of some players attempted the rabona pass includes... Emile Heskey... laugh.gif

The difference is that we don't really want Reina. He's on over 100k a week, that's super expensive for someone who's gonna warm the bench. And he will most likely warm the bench at Bayern as Neur is a monstrous keeper. Even Rafa don't fancy him at 2mil and that says something.

Has Heskey done a rabona ? I can't remember, you sure it's not one of his trademark moves where he gets his legs all tangled up and then accidentally executed a rabona ? biggrin.gif As for Bojan, you should read up on his development - he's got a mental problem and had suffered several meltdowns.

Dirt Kuyt become the first liverpool striker after Peter Beardsley to score hat-trick against our rival.

I remember he is the one who keep telling Liverpool to let Suarez go last season so I doubt he would want to join us even though we are interested with him.

Its not an easy task to attract big players with our current situation. Yes we might be in the CL this season but we are not doing it every season. Cant blame BR for not having any marquee signing yet.

Some of the players weren't signed by Hogdson. Purslow played footie manager for a bit before he got the sack. He bought Joe Cole and probably Meireles but i'm not sure. He also told Hogdson to sell Lucas which he ignored. Meireles was unsettled because Purslow allegedly promised him (was on 30k pw) that he would get an improved contract after a season but FSG bought over the club, sacked Purslow and told him they knew nothing of the sort. So he left when Chelsea offered a better contract and Kenny didn't really fancy him either.

Even BR almost made a mistake of trading him to Fulham for Dempsey! Deal collapsed because Hendo refused to go. Just goes to show that even the pros are capable of making premature decision.

problem is most fans still have the same decision after performance last season.

but i believe those who not rated him are those who only focus on player who had the ball, not the full view that tv cam able to capture.

Yeah that's true. Some people only judge a player by the number of assists and goals. Maybe throw in some step overs tongue.gif Midfielders are really hard to rate because they often do the simple things and not the fancy stuff. Things like winning and retaining possession, and then recycling that possession are often overlooked. But to be fair these things are not easily appreciated as most people watch football for entertainment so the tedious things like the role of a midfielder is often neglected by the viewers.

3 points actually. Won against Norwich. And if you consider 3 match suspension it would be 4 points. But I get your point, he is simply irreplaceable. First name on the team sheet I reckon.

Anyone remember he refused to join Fulham in expense of Dempsey arrival and said he want to fight for his place? Good attitude from him. Maybe Borini can turn around his fate too? tongue.gif

Lol, don't compare Borini with Hendo, they are completely different, its very very hard for Borini to turn good, even IF, IF he really turn out good, he's still a liability, because he is too injury prone.

Lucas is still a good squad player, no point selling him off, he could start some of the match against physical team, Lucas still good with dirty tackle that completely destroy opponent attack.

A pre injury Lucas had good mobility and was more robust in his tackles. I say he could dislodge Gerrard but that would alter the dynamic of team - i think BR might use him more as a box to box midfielder instead of a traditional DM.

For my point of view, Gerard is our liability, Even post injuries, if Lucas get more time and game playing, he still as good as he is. But he is not Gerard. We have our own Rooney situation here in LFC.

35mil for recovering acl injury player is ridiculously risky - he might play for 2 games before getting injured again, and there goes half of Suarez's money.

Yeah scary prospect signing a player recovering from a major injury. I mean we learned it the hard way with Aqualani and saw it first hand what it's done to Lucas, Kelly and Yesil. I think Coates too took a year to recover from it ?

Apparently Arsenal is interested in Agger to replace Vermaelen but I don't see that happening. Reason for Agger leaving is because he doesn't want to warm the bench and Vermaelen's place at Arsenal is on the bench. I guess Dagger will at least stay till January.

Sad to see one of my fav goalie becomes a bench warmer. Had to dislodge Neuer, so I don't think Pepe will play much in the league or CL unless Neuer is out injured. Will be played in cup ties only.

Anyway, good luck and thanks, Pepe!

I'm really astonished by the lack of movement from our transfer committee to resign Aly Cissokho and make it permanent.

Looks like Aston Villa got an absolute bargain this season.

Oh god, I just watched Step Up - All In, and I don't know its just me or what. But that lead actor, Sean, his lower face, from nose until chin looks exactly like Johnson.

So guess what, I doesn't really enjoy that movie very much, every time the camera focus on him, I think of Johnson and his shit performance. doh.gif

If my memories still good, I remember there is one goal vs MU in don't know its Carling or FA Cup quater or semi final.
And the score is 0-0 or 1-1, Pepe made a long cross and reach Big Andy, and he headed through pass to energizer bunny Kuyt, and our energizer bunny finish it with style!

Hope I remember it correctly. Anyway, thanks Pepe! He did a terrific job with us, and kept a lot of clean sheet for us too! flex.gif

Heard rumor (ESPN) that we will sign Moreno after the European Super Cup. If he played in that game, will he be eligible for UCL?
