Hi Sifu, I'm trying to find a laptop based on the details below:

1. Preferred Brand:Lenovo
2. Budget: RM 1.5K below. Cheaper the better.
3. Usage : Programming (PHP, light weight text editor), Youtube, Torrent
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 15" Full HD
5. DOS: Free DOS. Installing Unix Distro.
*
You cant get full HD with that budget.
- Lenovo G50-70, i3-4010u,amd r5 230m, 4gb ram,500gb hdd
-Lenovo s410, same specs, better design, no optical drive
Or
-Lenovo G50-30, processor: Celeron n2930. I think this one is possible to get below Rm1000. ~Only if you consider low end processor.

that abit low specs ? any lenovo or asus recommendation ?
*
nothing wrong with that dell laptop. You can also get free 2 year pro warranty service if you are buying at PC fair. With that budget all brands offer pretty similar configuration hmm.gif

-Lenovo z40-70
-Asus a450/a455

those are i5 + nvidia graphic card laptop below RM2000. maybe you can get i7 version for Asus a450 @ Rm2200, but dunno whether they bring it or not.

anyway, try your luck there, becoz many of them are selling at normal price (with some added freebies). That is PC fair nowadays.

I've checked on Lenovo website for the G50-70, it stated that the resolution is 1366X768 and there's no info about the screen reso for the S410.
*
S410 also use 1366x768. Cheapest one with fullHD is lenovo z40-70 around Rm1.7k

1. Preferred Brand: HP is my priority, apart from that anything else but ASUS
2. Budget: Around RM1000 - RM 1500
3. Usage: Mostly for student purposes, work purposes, surfing the internet, minor gaming
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: Smaller size, around 11 inch is acceptable, light enough to carry around.

QUOTE(WCKennedy @ Jan 2 2015, 11:47 PM)
Hi, would like a suggestion/recommendation for a new laptop. Thank you very much

1. Preferred Brand

No preference. As long as it's a good, worth-buying decent one. (Of course I prefer a brand that has a good history and reputation in terms of performance and quality.)

2. Budget

Maximum RM2000

3. Usage

Mid-range gaming (DotA 2, World of Tanks, Left 4 Dead 2, Guns of Icarus, Unturned, Minecraft, CS), college assignments and work (Microsoft Office), capable of rendering and producing videos (Nothing heavy like 3DS Max or After Effects).

4. Preferred laptop/screen size

No preference as well. As long as the screen is worth the bucks and the specs are satisfactory.
Kindly provide a rough rundown on the specs. Once again, thanks a lot for spending your time, effort and attention on this.
*
Screen quality, you need to check it yourself whether it is acceptable or not.

Asus A455LD/A555LD, i5-4210u, gt820m, 4gb ram, 500gb hdd, 14" hd screen (15.6" for A555LD)

Acer E5-571G, i5-4210u, gt840m, 4gb ram, 500gb hdd, 15.6" hd screen

Hp pavilion 14 v-013tx, i5-4210u, gt830m,4gb ram, 500gb hdd

Dell inspiron 14 3442 from @myway, i7-4500u, gt840m, 4gb ram, 500gb hdd, 14" hd
