FYI the 2nd digit 5 n below means entry level for non demanding games... so 950 or 850 won't be much different... see the vram only... n MSI giv wat processor?
*
vram also quite not important. 4gb ddr3 vs 2gb ddr5, ddr5 will win.

I'm trying to decide between two laptop: HP Pavillion 15 P247TX vs. Dell Inspiron 5548.

Both nearly identical (5th gen i7, 8GB RAM, 1TB, etc.), only major difference is graphic card:
- Dell is Radeon R7 M270 4GB DDR3
- HP is GeForce 840M 2GB DDR3

Is there a big performance difference between the two graphic cards? If only slight difference, then I'm leaning towards buying HP.
*
Better wait for review first. R7 m270 is still new. IMO I don't think the performance difference is big.

Guys, care to explain the dell warranty? I also notice there's a Dell Services: Asset Protection option. Which one do you guys recommend?

If I buy from online seller a unit that comes with DOS, can I still purchase those warranty mentioned above?

Thanks.
*
AFAIK you can only do it if you buy straight from Dell website.

2. Budget : RM2100 and below
3. Usage : University work(MS Office), Multitasking
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : 13.3

All in all, i just want a 13.3 inch laptop with 1920x1680p below RM 2100 and below 2kg

Not much 13.3 laptop around that price. Only Acer v3-371 ( specs as above) fit your requirement.

Lenovo z40-70
5th gen i5 (forgot the numbers)
4gb ram
500gb HDD.
Something gt820 with 2gb ram
Win 8.1 64bit
14 inch fhd display.
Rm1799

OK ka? Plan to use in room, hardly taken outside. Main use are just photo and video editing doing family photo albums and home movies, so photo and video editing softwares will.form the bulk of softwares inside. Only minor gaming and also watching online movies and radio streaming only.

Should I add more ram, say up to 8gb? Worth to swap the HDD to an SSD for faster photo/video processing?
*
Might be ok. If its me, i will pick 15.6" screen laptop for that purpose. 14" is just too small.

SSD for storage is not really a good choice,i mean the price.. you will have limited space unless you dont mind to buy 512gb one (cheapest are Rm700-800)

btw, where did you find z40-70 with 5th gen i5?

n551zu 2.7k
inspiron 7447 8gb ram only for 3k n above..

r9 m280x ddr5 comparable/slightly better than gtx 850m ddr3?

also n551zu comes with 15 inch FHD while inspiron FHD available only at 3.2k model
better B&O audio too

sweat.gif nobody talks abt n551zu... need information on the temp...

That one still new in market. I have read somewhere that FX-7600p performance is only around i5-4210u, I'm afraid it will bottleneck the gpu.

Cpu side, Dell 7447 wins.

P/S: How much will the below requirements cost me? Kindly advise.

OS: Windows V/7/8/8.1 - 64-Bit
β€’ CPU: Intel i5-2550K @ 3.40GHz (or AMD FX-6350 Six-Core equivalent)
β€’ RAM: 8GB
β€’ Minimum Supported Video Cards: ATI Radeon HD 6870, NVIDIA GTX 460

I think the closest specs with this pc is Dell inspiron 7447, 14" full hd, i7-4710HQ, 8gb ram, gtx850m, 1tb hdd @ Rm3199. There is no i5 quad core processor for laptop, so going to i7 quad core is the only choice IMO. Alternatively, there is also a lower specs for this model, with i5-4210H, 4gb ram, 500gb hdd around Rm2.7k.
