The Y50 model doesn't not come with an ODD.

But some sellers are bundling it with an external ODD for certain configurations. Maybe that helps?

Revised my budget. University student here in need of new laptop

1. No preferred brand
2. Budget less than 3k
3. Used for assignments, gaming (wolfenstein, watchdogs etc), photo/ video editing, web browsing
4. Preferred screen size 14~15.6"
5. Battery life and smooth multitasking an added bonus.

I've done some research and found that the lenovo y40 or y410 to be my best options. Which one should I get? Other suggestions are more than welcome. smile.gif

I don't think we have the Y40 here in Malaysia hmm.gif
So the Y410 it is laugh.gif

1. Preferred Brand: Asus or Lenovo or other brands.
2. Budget: RM 2000 - RM2599
3. Usage : Editing photos, Microsoft Office, some movies or anime. Still need an ODD due to the ancient methods still being practiced.  sweat.gif  Looking for portability with practicality. tongue.gif
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 15 inches

**Did some browsing and research, so it came down to Asus K551LN-XX251H or Lenovo Z50-70. As these 2 models have roughly the same specs, just minor differences in terms of their CPU and GPU, very minor. So I was wondering which would be better, more like in terms of quality and support.
As notebookcheck.net has only a review for the Lenovo Z50-70 but not for the Asus K series. So I hope someone could shed some light on which brand would fare better.

Thanks  biggrin.gif

Asus is definitely out when it comes to warranty services laugh.gif
So its just the Lenovo icon_rolleyes.gif

You need a higher budget for that "Gaming Laptop" tag bro laugh.gif
Notebooks at your budget range don't really have superb ventilation unfortunately...

Best you can get is probably this one:
15.6"
Lenovo
Y50-70 (59-422941), i7-4710HQ + Nvidia GTX860M + (1920x1080 anti-glare)@RM3599[2.4kg], 8GB, 1TB, red backlit KB, FreeDOS, 2 yrs

I think so, not really sure. tongue.gif
Try asking the seller for more info or Lenovo retailers to see if they have that kind of bundle.

I know that the Lenovo Y50-70 is already out, loads of dealers are selling it at the garage with a variety different configurations.
As for the Y40, still no news of anyone selling. doh.gif
The M'sian main website seems to be slow in updating their series and models there. sweat.gif
