If you're on APSC then a 50mm lens has a fov of 80mm lens while a 85mm lens will result in a fov of 136mm. So laugh.gif I suggest you go try it out yourself icon_idea.gif
*
Later once I test this 85mm lens..... I will get tempted with it...... but then my pocket will put another big hole. tongue.gif. Definitely will try this out since its not that expensive though.

So if I bought this, by March I should have 4 lenses..... geeze... time to change my camera sling bag to bigger size.... laugh.gif

50mm is equivalent to 85mm only in FOV.

the perspective is still that of a 50mm.

After reading those website. I have made my final decision............. I'm going to get tokina 11-16mm lens ahead of 50mm F1.4 lens first!!!! I think i will use wide angle lens more when I travel to Taiwan end of Nov. I believe I can get the f1.4 later after come back from travel. Also, video problem I think i will just use my handphone to record first then, since its also full HD brows.gif

I have to admit, playing wide angle lense is so much fun than portrait.

How do you compare wide angle to portrait hmm.gif
We can shoot portrait with wide angle too.

Just got a Yong Nuo 565EX ii and the TTL it wasn't as good as my 565EX (ver.1). The shop I bought it from also said that they don't carry 560EX anymore because too many problems and only sell 560 III.

But luckily the 565EX ii works great as an off camera flash through Canon's wireless Channels. So I'll be keeping it for that purpose.

I guess some of the latest Yong Nuo flashes have real quality issues. So probably best to avoid Yong Nuo 565EX ii and 560EX.

They even produce 50mm f1.4 (well ripped off from canon). Curious about the price and performance though.

EDIT: jumped ship to Olympus recently, so maybe remove me from 550D user list? Still have the M tho.

i think you can get a used Canon 430EX II with that amount of money (or top up a little more), very good flash for beginner already smile.gif

3rd party is a lot cheaper, but TTL (auto mode in flash) might not be as stable or accurate as Canon's own flash.. I have google for budget speedlite, many of users recommend Yongnuo brand.. Can you enlighten me pls? smile.gif

what is your primary usage for flash though?
*
I'm gonna use it as for many group photos.. By using built-in flash, it is not so good..

QUOTE(teikboon @ Oct 12 2014, 01:17 AM)
Buy one from canon to ensure compatibility at its best. I mean to use those features available for your canon camera.

I recommend Canon 430ex. Quite nice. Can try get a second hand one. Price range from 500 to 700 depends on condition.

I'm thinking of Yongnuo brand is it good?
I'm also considering 430ex too.. smile.gif

Of course no need to ask about M43's fastest champion AF in daylight. But curious to how it Olympus's autofocus in low light. Is it so good where there is no need to think about having a Canon DSLR+ Flash AF Assist beam to handle those dark situations?

how are you going to use it for group photos by the way? direct flash?

i don't own the 430ex, but I have the "legendary" 560II manual flash. such a workhorse and never fails me even it only costs rm200+.

haha yeap, impressive performance in daylight, almost instant focus on still subject (different story on moving things). hmmm I would say it's still uncomparable with a proper DSLR + flash AF, since in low light you don't get high contrast things to start with. a fair comparison would be a dslr without any assist beam turned on, but i don't have any dslr with me right now so can't really compare.

I don't think EOS M2 is available in Malaysia yet. But you can get it from lelong.my. EOS M2 is much better compared to EOS M especially on the AF part.
But I personally think that there are more room for improvement such as flip screen, EVF and better burst rate.

Looks like EOS M2 is sold here. All I hear about it was that the AF is faster than EOS M1 and suppose to be faster than 1 sec. And the body is slightly smaller than the M1. But the price isn't attractive yet.

So basically better AF (how much better though?), Wifi and other small changes? For rm2.6k most people wouldn't consider it when Sony has it's a6k with kit around 2.2k.

let's wait until m3 is out then we can have m2 for 1k tongue.gif
