hmmm the thinner the hsf base means the faster the heats get transferred from the cpu to the hsf base, if the contact of the heatpipes and the cpu base is very good as that means the heat get transferred to the heatpipe faster then the heatpipe will transfer the heat to the fin and the fin will be cooled down by the fan:)

cpu -> the hsf base -> heatpipes -> fins then fins cool down by the fan smile.gif

the smoother of the hsf base means the more contact between the cpu and the base....

hope this explains it  biggrin.gif

who you refer to?

btw, if we lapping the base of the heat sink until become like mirror surface, the heat can be transfer more right?but, can we lapping the processor like that so we can gain more performance?

No need to say his name here, as you can see it by yourself in my successful tradelist.

It is not that if we lap the base to mirror shine that'll make the heat to be transferred better, the real reason for doing lapping is for making the base real flat...

There's no use if u lap the heatsink to mirror shine, while the base is not flat at all, this will result to a lesser heat conduction between the processor IHS and the heatsink.

like me,i just want to learn something.thats why i ask.
not spamming....
i know i can google it.but is it wrong to ask others opinion.besides, the person also can give some advice base from his or her experiences.

You can ask questions, no one here says that no one can ask anything here...
You have the right to ask question, but please refrain from asking such simple simple questions here and there with those questions that you you'reself can get the answer by doing just some simple thinking...

About blaming, you've misunderstood it...
No one is blaming anyone...

You've misread it...

lapping job will make the base more flat by reducing those microscopic mountain on the heatsink base..

there's various method in doing this.. my favourite one is put the sand paper on top of a mirror (which guarantee the flat surface u can possibly have)...then put some air sabun....slide the hsf base on top of it slowly with only it's selfweight grinding through the sand paper biggrin.gif

confirm clean and clear! tongue.gif

gguys there is one thing that u have to keep in mind... lapping all the way to a perfect mirror finish does not help ur temps in fact it COULD make it worse... the objective is just to get it to be perfectly flat... not mirror... the mirror thing started coz of the bling bling revolution...heres a link that will prove my point...feel free to scroll down to the Do I want a mirror finish part.
