A little off topic but I wonder why are our camera batteries so small in capacity yet quite big in size in comparison with smartphone batteries which have more mAh yet more compact? Sorry if this sounds silly but I am very curious about this.
They're of different voltage to begin with.Smartphone one is normally rated at 3.7 V while camera ones are 7.2V. Some even 10.8 or higher. Put this into the equation, you about need to multiply the mah on our camera battery x 2 to get equivalent mAh rating at 3.7V. Due to this, it's better and easier to read the Wh rating instead of mAh. Wh specifies the total energy content of the battery irrelative to voltage while mAh is specified at the operating voltage.
But I think it's still not as compact as phone batteries probably due to the housing. Phones batteries housing should be relatively thinner so they can create those super thin phone. Camera battery on the other had is something we'll take out and change on occasional basis so it has to be tougher. But that's my theory la. No guarantee of accuracy
