Why dun wan to use a device with mtk chipset on it ?
Dun see anything wrong it…
*
Devices with MTK chipset are nightmares for developers as there is no full source available.
Compiling for CM, AOSP, etc are almost impossible without the full source, even the publicly available kernel source cannot be compilied directly without comprehensive work.
MediaTek does not complies with GPL rules and even charge OEM for kernel source, that's why many developers hate them and do not want to work for these devices.

But i think russian site leaked the full source for KK recently, so things might change.

malaysia version not global rom ??
*
QUOTE(Anonymous34 @ Jul 28 2014, 04:51 PM)
nope.

Yes, Malaysia set is using global ROM.
The same phone available to countries are differ by few bytes written to 0x1500000 on EMMC that defines their region/country by local provider or OEM.
During the first boot, the ROM sets the default language, timezone, prebundled apps based on preset defined in /cust, but this preset is missing in EMUI ROMs.

I tried.

other set that have locked bootloader might not possible to try...if forced to flash..will end up bootloop
*
I don't think so, indeed, i think you can safely install KitKat without unlocking at all,
i accidently figured that out after spending weeks trying other ways to install KK. doh.gif

I wanted to post the guides but i am looking for tester to confirm something before i do that,
but everybody seems to be in holiday mode, so i will just wait until someone willing to take the risk...

What can i say about this device is, there is 0% chance you can hard brick it, except hardware failure.
no matter what happen there is always a way to get the device back working, without sending it back to svc centre.
But if you really care about the warranty then this might be an issue for you, and you should stick with official then. laugh.gif

Me? Really didn't expect this type of comment after spending almost a month writting the noob guides, restless.

You have no idea how much time and work i have done for this device, i tried all possibilities that i could think of,
and flashed almost hundreds times now, just to make sure you can do it trouble-free, and this is all you can say to encourage me?

Writting a guide for normal user is easy, but for noob it is not, i am not writting it just for you, if you are smart enough, you do not need my guides at all, google is all you need.

I might not be a psychology expert, but from your comment i suspect you are those type of person that will blame your parents and ah gong, ah ma for your own failure, what would you get them involved? They've done nothing wrong except passing the stupidibility DNA to you, but you are already big enough to make your own decision, never ever blame them for your own stupidibility and failure, remember, you are the one that choose the path and made the decisions.

About the guide, i am not that irresponsible, as i keep you guys updated, like i said i need testers to confirm something, but those volunteers are still away for holiday, so i said i will just wait until someone tested it.
My device is not enough to provide me the info i need as the first thing i did when i first got the device was unlocked it and ran a full format, i need to confirm if the guides are working good on untouched device, just to avoid people like you that will blame me if the guide is not working afterward.

Regards!

Good news everyone, test passed! I just tried to flash MIUI, failed to boot, so the answer is NO for MIUI.

I will see if i manage to post all guides by tonight, get your phone charged and make some backup if you want to upgrade to KK tonight.

Tried the un-bricking guides on the first page still unsuccessful... Arghh, now am really tired since afternoon been trying. Appreciate any helps given, thank you...

Which guide? The one with update.app? If the first one didn't work please try guide #2 by cvg.

Your situation is a little bit different, i don't see how a normal OTA can brick a device.
Unless the update file was incomplete or corrupted, or your SDCard is bad, eg: has bad sector, but as far as i am concerned there are md5 verifications prior to the update, i am really curious what could be the cause, anyway, guide #2 should be able to recover your device.

Bro, you did a good and comprehensive guide.

After reading it, I kinda feel overwhelmed. No wonder you took your time to release the guide. It covers practically every aspect of flashing the phone.

Didn't know that upgrading to KK needs so much preparations. I'm going to read over and over again then decide whether to flash or not....so to flash freely without worrying about boot-looping, it is recommended to unlock the bootloader right?
*
Nvm take your time to digest. laugh.gif
It's funny to see how some ppl keep telling others their device is dead blah blah blah... not sure if i should laugh at them or what.
It's almost impossible to hardbrick this device, no matter how you flash, you can ALWAYS restore and get it working as we already have everything we need. files from cvg is the key point.
Just that you must backup your NVRAM and PRO_INFO, these partition contains device specific data and must not be shared.

About KK, you can do it without unlocking, just make sure you don't use OTA or Local Upgrade.
You can only use 'Force Upgrade', which will clear everything, so it's not very convenience, but you can restore to official B11X easily and BL is still locked.

Wow…  didn't expect the guide is so details…
BTW, CHN version got official KK on 1/7 but why u said still in DEV ROM stage ?
*
Do you read Chinese? If you check EMUI page, you will find:
开发版 = Developer Build
稳定版 = Stable Build

Current KitKat build is the third publicly available test build, i read someone said official release will be on October, not sure where he got the info.

Slightly updated the KitKat guide as i saw 'someone' on FB group got confused about the OTA.
I did not mean that OTA cannot be applied, i mean you cannot use OTA if you choose to not to unlock.

PS: I think HW is gonna hate me if noob tried and failed, their svc centre is gonna be very busy... hmm.gif

hey hi, i tried ur guide and it's working flawlessly  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

and i just want to ask what method u use to root ur phone?

hope u can add that to ur awesome guide.
*
I thought i got everything covered, follow "Using Custom Recovery: Root & Install SuperSU with TWRP" guide.
You can skip the vroot as it installs more than just root... it's an adware IMHO.

b115 is not for ori my version tho..but if u feeling adventerous can proceed tho
*
QUOTE(sitescope @ Aug 5 2014, 08:38 AM)
Someone can confirm this ?
*
B115 is for international aka MY set, just Huawei didn't push it to our device through local OTA, i think every country get their own OTA,
some countries already got B118 if i am not mistaken, it contains specific update/patch for their region/country, our latest OTA is B113.

The same reason why you can always hear samsung device get latest KK first in US first, then only asia, MY & rest of the world...
Perhaps Huawei think the update is not significant for our device, eg: just an extra app update, etc, and they don't want to overload their server... laugh.gif

Nah, if you are hardcore enough hack the OTA server to receive B115. rclxms.gif

AFAIK you can only update through EMUI ones atm, use 'Local Update', but i haven't fully tested that tho.. was on KK since day 2...
