QUOTE(mavericksam @ Aug 14 2014, 05:30 PM)
hi guys,

how secure is the new city? are those pedal lock absolutely necessary?

seems to be that it defeats the purpose of having push start when you still need to take out your key to unlock the pedal lock...

understand that it is a deterrent but with keyless entry and start, is it still that easy to duplicate your keys? or is it similar to european cars that it has immobilizer function built in?

I understand that if any thief has an intention of stealing our car, it is as good as gone regardless whatever security we have but i'd like to know without those pedal lock, is it relatively still safe?
*
Any additional security is deterrent...thieves always choose the easiast target. You want to be the easy target? whistling.gif

If choose pedal lock, don't get those with the start switch wire bypass (the start wire mapped to the lock). Have one in my Inspira...got problem after 3 years, the switch spoiled, can't start car, have to rewire the start button wire directly to the dashboard controllers....my City also installed pedal lock, but my SA recommend not to install those bypass wire type to avoid voiding warranty. Good idea. Physical detterent is enough...this additional bypass wire does nothing but cause problem when it breaks!!!

If can find more stickers like "This car is protected by BLAH BLAH", stick one or two of those on your screen. Fake em. Thieves will think you have additional level of security...(even if you don't)....brows.gif

But don't plaster 10 stickers like that lar...sure know you are trying to blow water....

Honda uses 0w-20 for the City?? shocking.gif
*
Yes....you choose between ow20, 30 or 40 i think. Even Accord (non V6) also can use ow-20, nowadays engine oil has made a lot of progress, the Viscocity number alone does not determine the factor anymore. Honda is now pushing new 0w16 standard. smile.gif

We have an Inspira owner, using 0w20 and send the engine oil result to US lab for testing....hardcore betul...

if not mistaken 0W20 is the eco... I think

SL 5W40 is the more powerful full synthetic. But I am not sure on the price. nvr done 10k service yet
*
I think "powerful" is not the correct description. It means thicker oil, more resistance to your piston, actually, use more fuel. But new 0W20 i think has lots of improvement, not only by shear thickness of the oil....if Honda can recommend to use for 2L engine+ like Accord, i am sure there's no problem using in the City small 1.5L engine. And thinner oil seems to be the trend, i read in Almera thread, TCM also using OW20 for the Almera....Godcar not sure....tongue.gif

I think the trend is thinner oil for good FC, yet provide enough protection for daily driving....Quazacolt's drive like orang gila using OW20 also no problem according to the lab test result....that's a 1.8L engine.

that is true and i highly agree.

while i'm not using idemitsu/Honda lubricants, i'm fairly sure Honda does know what they are knowing considering overseas have long since practiced lighter viscosity/extended OCI like Honda America/Japan.

you know, Muhrica the land of lawsuits, FC high? kena sue. Maintenance cost high? kena sue.
to curb this, ma use better/modern lighter viscosity EO lo
Engine oil have come a long way in improvement/development after all nod.gif

and depending on how "gentle" you think i drive, the test result is proven already la laugh.gif
http://www.kentchemistry.com/links/Math/ppm.htm
apparently sub 50 in metal ppm is considered decent la (which was disappointing considering how much i spent on lube/additives)

my goal now is to further reduce it to sub 10 ppm on the next OCI/lab report.
already got plans on that, wish me luck  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
How do you plan to reduce metall ppm??? rclxub.gif

No need go to Roadshow lar, straight go showroom better or you can checkout sites like carlist.my and call up those SAs. There's one guy saying he got RM2K discount, is it here or in the other city thread in the main forum? Can't remember.

For me, SA did PDI toughly didn't have any issue at all
*
Same here not much issue, none of the gap issue mentioned in the first post. smile.gif
Sometimes stuff in the drawers or bottle storage holes can caused sound...I have mineral bottle at one time in the drivers storage door...cause some funny noisy...gave me shock...lol.

Another thing you can do to improve your ride...make sure pump in correct air pressure to tyre...mine was overpumped...didnt realized for a few weeks...after go to petrol station release some air to recommended specs, much less bumpy and probably less noise also due to softer ride now....biggrin.gif

Only drawback of this car...aircond not cold enough...minimum set to 2....the rear vents are quiet useless...need to set to at least 3 to have decent air. But maybe I am used to Protons aircond...legendary cold....last time my ex-boss BMW aircond also sucks....Proton aircond > ALL!
