Question, how expensive are things like groceries in Tokyo/Osaka? Things like uncooked rice, breads and eggs?

In Kyoto,

I will said that you should concentrate on how cheap the price you can get.
Raw rice-300-400 yen for 1kg pac, but they do have pre-cook rice, which you can
buy it and re-heat it in microwave, rice portion enough for 2 meal-200-300yen,

bread- a bread with super soft quality, 6-8 slice, ,150-200yen

egg- 12 egg about 200-300 yen

It depend on location and which store u going in, different store have different price,
generally, 7-11, Dawson and Familymart are the 3 big player they, in term of pricing,
each have it own attracting item. In every street u will see at least 1 big 3 grocery store
over they.

If you lazy to choose and cook, just buy their set meal for noddle or rice or Japanese set, the price
range from 300-700 yen.

For the pricing in Tokyo, might be slightly expensive, or waite for others forumer comments.

I was sort of thinking of bringing in things like those fried rice paste and brahim's chicken curry and such to cook when we're in the house, hence the question. Was thinking of buying things like rice, eggs or bread there. If rice is too expensive there, I'll probably just bring a small 1kg pack to start off with from here.

Rm 10 in Malaysia I can buy 5 bowl of rice. Tesco got sold weighing rice
24 egg While japan only can get 8 egg. More than 8 egg will be more than 300yen including tax
4 Gardenia Bread While Japan only can get 1 bread like Gardenia size only.
McD BigMac large set at Mc saver timing. While Japan only can get a Bowl of Sukiya Yuniku rice without any drinks.

Japan living cost is higher than Malaysia. Sure the thing will be expensive. unless you work in Japan earning Yen. plus Malaysia Ringgit value are doh.gif . After doing conversion.....everything are doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

Any recommendation for Japanese buffet or all-you-can-eat shabu shabu or all-you-can-eat yakiniku around Shibuya / Harajuku area? Budget around 3000 yen pax.

Also, are the outlet stores worth to go? will be cheaper?

Go Don-ki (Don-Quijote), locals pronounce as Don-Kibote. Plenty of cheap and good stuffs (Clothes, food, drinks, cosmetic, facial, adult, IT, phone).

P/S: Sigh, next year Japan trip seems difficult. Jobless liao.

Good news here!!

2014 Nov 21 start, AirAsia will landed at Narita International Airport also.

Narita Airport are not 24 hour Airport means last aircraft arrived must 10:00pm. This mean no transport problem anymore like Haneda Airport.

Good news good news
