I am back to B017 malaysian rom for 501L.

Xposed is installed and one handed mode worked.

Will wait for the final version of Lollipop (Android 5.1.1/Emui 3.1) before deciding whether to upgrade. After upgrading, will again check with the compatibility of xposed with emui 3.1 before deciding whether to keep Android 5.1.1 or downgrade to Android 4.4.x

Besides the X2, i really cannot find another worthy 7 inches or 8 inches Phablet to replace the X1.

It is hard to find a replacement for the X1.
In terms of light weight, big screen size, speed performance, the Lenovo tab S8 or the Asus memopad 8 are nice but I know that I will never be satisfied with the Battery and camera as compared to the X1.

Xperia Z Ultra might be the only one on par with the X1 but I suspect that the battery life will not be as good as the X1. And I am not a fan of the bravia engine, Sony uses for their camera.

Lenovo Phab Plus is more heavy in weight than the X1. for a 7 inch, the device must be lighter than the X1 to get my attention. Yet, it must not compromise with good battery. Until now, the X1 with its hardware configuration and design is still the winner ... that is if we are not concern for too high speed and cpu performance.

Want to sell also don't know what to buy. So, i will just keep the X1

i will research a bit about this model - Mediapad m2 8.0 (I do llike 8 inch screen very much but I am not sure whether I can get used to carrying a small bag for the 8 inch tablet wherever I go. smile.gif

While waiting for the final release of Lollipop, I will use B017 malaysian rom on my X1.

I must say that I am a bit curious about the KangVip custom rom for the X1. It is hard to get information on whether Kang's B011 503L rom with EMUI 3.1 is compatible with Xposed framework or not.

I already understand that xposed framework doesn't work with x1 and x2 when the original unmodified EMUI 3.0 theme engine is installed.

I have read that the M2 10" will support an active stylus, but not sure if the 8" model can support it as well.

If the 8" supports the active stylus too, I will probably get it.

Since I am using it for corporate email, I won;t be able to root my device (unfortunately) but we'll see...

Yes, from the specs I understand why huawei mediapad m2 8 inch screen is a good tablet to consider.

I do not know whether it will support an active / passive stylus instead of the capacitive screen type of stylus.

I too am a great fan of tablets that can support stylus properly. I loved the wacom type of stylus very much. Believe it or not, I also love the non wacom type of stylus that we could use on Windows pocket pc even though they lack the hover feature and pressure sensitive feature. At least they are precise enough.

Capacitive touch screens are great for fingers but it is not easy to use the type of stylus made for capacitive touch screens. If only there is some kind of switch that can make the screen change back and forth between stylus friendly screen and finger friendly screen.

Of course Samsung has capacitive screen phablets that supports wacom type of stylus but when wacom technology is used the price of the device goes up too much.

Other stylus technology that provide similar functions of the wacom are available but still not very matured for used on capacitive screens.

Thanks again for bringing to my attention on the mediapad m2. As I said I love the idea of an 8 inch tablet that can also be used as a phone. I just have to find out if there is a way to get used to carrying a small bag around everywhere I go. Compared to the 7 inch x1 that can easily fit in to a normal pocket or into a belt pouch, an 8 inch will definitely need a small bag.

But yes, 8 inch is really not too big and not small when used for reading or doing some productive work using office apps.

7 inch is still small but maintain portability factor.

Maybe, in future something can be done so that our everyday shirts and trousers will enable us to easily attach an 8 inch tablet who knows. smile.gif

Do Let me know if there are any other good 8 inch phone tablets. Right now, I only know

Asus fonepad 8
Mediapad m2 8
Dell venue 7 (8 inch) (this one I'm interested but ... )
Lenovo tab s8

Xperia z3 compact (maybe best n most expensive ...)

(Don't know why some ... offer just 1gb ram .... and some no microsd support.)

Will avoid :

Tablet s with only 1gb ram
No microsd
Too heavy (360 gm above )
Small battery n poor power management
Over crappy camera

For 7 inch ... I give up searching ...

I think mediapad x1 is still the best
Hard to find a replacement.
Love the hardware. Especially the big battery ...
ok with Emui to a certain degree but don't love the fact that it prevents xposed framework from working properly.

Lenovo Tab S8 has good specs but seems development is stopped. But you can get it for cheap though, I think RM799 a couple of months ago, since it is EOL. Someone on XDA has been trying to get it to run Windows 10, not sure on the progress now.

Dell is not a phone, but specs are otherwise similar to the Tab S with a beautiful screen. Shame it doesn't have an active digitizer. And shame on Samsung for not putting an active digitizer on the Tab S series.

For the 7" segment, either Huawei P8Max or Lenovo Phab Plus can be similar, but Phab Plus seems a little underpowered, whereas the P8Max is very expensive.

Note that only the 10" M2 has the active digitizer. No mention of the technology behind it, but I suspect it should be Wacom. It seems the max model with 3Gb RAM, 64Gb storage and LTE is priced around USD469, and if it is a phone too it will be a bonus.

I do not think X2 will ever come here, even P8 max will not come. X2 is available in Thailand same as P8 max. But both ia not available here and Sg. According to Sg huawei, they claim is their marketing decision. No point waiting. If u want you need to get import set. I am using P8 max frm thailand.

The P8max is a very good replacement for this X1
Pity is not available here or even in Spore
I bought mine several months back from lelong.com for rm2.1k. However with weakening ringgit the price I last checked was around rm2.3-2.4k
A very good phablet for those looking for a near 7 inch display

I saw it available in a Huawei retail outlet in KL, not Low Yat. I just can't recall where. Either KLCC or Sunway Putra Mall.

RM1299.

Yup, absolutely. Huawei is doing this simply because they are not bringing in the newer model.

I have a hope for the M2 10" though, it might be 1899 or 1999 for the premium model, and hopefully beats the crap out of the Samsung Tab S.

I can't understand why marketing people segment tech stuff which they don't really understand and screw it all up.

I suspect is due to the production issue that is the reason why they are not bringing in those models. I saw the report from Europe that the P8 Max although launch there, the unit did not arrive until few months later. Even then, is very limited unit. Even in China, the sales is so good until limited stock.

The 503L has more active updates, since there is quite a large userbase for the X1 in China.

There are even a couple of custom roms, although you may have to struggle if you don't read Chinese.

Hi

Last official 501L ROM (android 4.4.2, EMUI 3.0, 400 DPI):
-Taiwan (B103): http://consumer.huawei.com/tw/tablets/supp...tw.htm?id=60006
warning, few supported languages: Chinese & english. But if you root your device, you can add your language with "MoreLangs" and/or "Morelocale 2", available in google play store

Some other recent official 501L ROMs (android 4.4.2, EMUI 2.3, 400 DPI):
- Western Europe (B103): http://consumer.huawei.com/ch-fr/support/p...fr.htm?id=33626
or: http://uploaded.net/file/z4hblokv

- Malaysia (B017): http://consumer.huawei.com/my/tablets/supp...my.htm?id=42841

--------

But, for a more advanced ROM (OTA, lollipop betas...), you should install a chinese rom devoted to 503L, but fully functionnable on 501L:

** Last official ROM released (B011 = Android 4.4.2, EMUI 3.0, 400 DPI framework with per app DPI setting)):
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ohcbibtxu49e0xj/dload.zip?dl=0
(this pack is ready ton install on 501L with no modifications)

** Last Beta ROM released (B113 = Android 5.1.1, EMUI 3.1, 400 DPI framework with per app DPI setting):
Start from a device installed with above B011.
Then update to B110: http://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-med...18#post63329818
Then update to B113: http://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-med...al/rom-t3275540

** add Goolge apps and their sync :
2 possible ways (at your choice):
1)use Huawei store that is already installed on your device:
for gapps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zI2RYZiTl38
for sync services:
http://a.vmall.com/app/C10029399?shareTo=c...852000000204495
http://a.vmall.com/app/C10029403?shareTo=c...852000000204495

OR

2) Download the apk
For apps:
http://www.apkmirror.com/uploads/?dev=google-inc
or http://d-h.st/ztjI
or https://www.dropbox.com/s/zl1usvxkygsody4/L...sForX1.zip?dl=0?

For syncs services:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...07&postcount=31

Last week, I came very close to selling my x1 and buying Sony tablet z3.

I really thought hard about what I needed.

I reminded myself that 8 inch is great but i cannot carry it as easily as the x1.

I realized that for my needs, still x1 is the best for now.

As a device that can still be used as both a tablet and a mobile phone (phablet), 7 inch seems to be the biggest it can go.

For reading , 8 inch screen is certainly better than a 7 inch screen. But then the 8 inch can never replace the portability of a 7 inch. Of course if portability is the main concern, less than 7 inch is more portable. But if we are also concern about getting the biggest screen while still maintaining the portability of a mobile phone, I don't see how to go beyond 7 inch or less than 7 inch.

7.5 inch?
