########## STYLE SWAP COVERS ##########

QUOTE
It would be a shame to hide the One’s beautiful design under a bulky case just to avoid wear and tear. We've introduced our unique range of StyleSwap exchangeable back covers, so you can not only add a bit of a personality to your OnePlus One, but also easily swap out a dinged case without needing to replace the whole device. StyleSwap covers come in a range of materials and textures, including kevlar, bamboo and denim on top of standard silk and sandstone. Now you can customize your phone for the look and feel you prefer, and change it up whenever you'd like.

########## AVAILABILITY & PRICING ##########

But you can get it from various sources:

The OnePlus One will cost:

How can it be so cheap? One possible explanation can be found here:
http://www.androidheadlines.com/2014/04/he...nsumer-low.html

Anyway, OnePlus did say later, they will reveal the cost breakdown. It's also interesting to note that OnePlus did mention before that their financial backer (BBK) is allowing them to have no profit for the first two years of operations. So, OnePlus says the phone is being sold without profit. They will make some money from accesosries like the Swap Style cases.

##### THE SILLY INVITE SYSTEM FAQ #####

QUOTE
How do I get an invite?
The main method of getting invites will be through others. In the beginning, when not a lot of other people have the device, you'll be able to get invites through contest and raffles. We have planned ways so our early fans, as well as people who weren't here from the beginning will be able to obtain invites.

When do the next batch of invites roll out?
The first real batch of invites roll out late May, and will be of the 64GB Sandstone Black version. Any invites that you might have been promised before this, will be sent during this time.

How long are invites valid for?
For invites that you receive, they are typically valid for 24 hours. If they expire, they get returned to sender so someone else can get a chance to buy it. Alternatively, you can ask for the sender to resend it to you. For invites that you can give away, they are usually valid for longer, usually 1-2 weeks.

How many invites can I give away?
This varies. In the beginning, the quantities will be smaller, but increased as time goes by. You will frequently receive new invites to give away as production ramps up.

When do I receive invites to give away?
You do not automatically receive invites when you purchase a phone. We will need to manually roll them out according to our operations situation.

####### BUG TRACKING AND REPORTING (CM11s) #######

From https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/how-to-r...cyanogen.41858/
QUOTE
Since Sunday, Jun 22, CyanogenMod has a dedicated bug tracker for the OnePlus One. To report an issue, first go to https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/ and register there, if you are not registered yet. Note that you need to specify your full name during registration and it will be publicly shown when creating an issue or commenting.

Next, look for existing issues to avoid duplicates. All current issues are listed at
https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/BACON (click issues left in there).

If you find an existing issue:
You can vote on existing issues, by clicking vote on the right of the issue. Please DO NOT add comments like "Me too", as this will just annoy people.

If you cannot find an existing issue:
1. Click Create Issue -> A "window" appears
2. In the "Project" drop-down, select "OnePlus One"
3. Now in the "Issue Type" drop-down, select the type of issue you want to report:
---> Bug - something that is not working correctly
---> New feature - A new feature that needs to be developed
---> Improvement - A proposed Improvement to an existing feature

Bugs
1. In the instruction tab, select the version of CM 11S running on your OnePlus One
2. Click on "Field Tab"
3. Fill out the summary and description field. The summary should be useful. A good example: "Screen does not power on consistently after waking device using galaxysmtd. A bad summary: "Screen wont turn on." (examples copied from cyanogenmod wiki).
4. Attach possible attachments. You probably want to include a logcat.
5. Click create
Once you have filed your bug, you may be asked for more information, such as a logcat from adb (if you have not done yet, as you should have in almost all cases). For information on how to generate a logcat, see http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Doc:_debugging_with_logcat

New Features / Improvements
It's like for bugs, but all on one tab. Just fill out all the fields and click create.

QUOTE(DJFoo000 @ Jul 5 2014, 06:43 PM)
I'm sorry for bringing this issue up so many times over the past few days, but this time I come with a solution! Someone on the OnePlus forums posted the 'fix' for the Google Now "OK Google" hotword detection issue. Basically just increase the gain for the main mic.

https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/fixed-mi...-the-one.50234/

Now my problem is notification LED not working on latest nightly. Flashed back to 22R->25R and LED is working. Flash back to nightly and it's broken  mad.gif

2) Boot into recovery mode, select uninstall storage function>格式化/system>格式化/data>格式化/cache

3) Then boot into fastboot mode again and perform the followings:
    - fastboot flash boot boot.img
    - fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
    - fastboot flash system system.img

########## YELLOWISH SCREEN ##########

There's been some talk about screen being "yellow" or there's yellowish tint at the bottom part of the screen.

3 possibilities of the 'yellow' issue:
* OS/ colour calibration. This one is obvious from the CM11S vs ColorOS screenshots. CM11S makes the screen yellow whereas ColorOS gives you a more blueish tint.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

This one can be fixed. Under developer option (or something like that). You can adjust the hue.

* glue. This one... Also can be fixed. It should go off after a while. However, this one usually does not affect the whole screen and could just be part of the screen, making this easily confused with the 3rd scenario below
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

* 3rd scenario: due to hardware issue. Probably something went wrong with the batch and you end up with some yellow parts at the bottom. Again... This can be confused with the glue thingy (see point above).

########## INTERNATIONAL VS CHINESE MODEL ##########

see: http://www.gizchina.com/2014/06/12/differe...se-oneplus-one/
TL;DR version:
QUOTE
* International version comes with Cyanogenmod 11S. Chinese model comes with ColorOS.
* International model has got CYANOGENMOD branding/ logo on the back cover. Chinese version does not have this.
* Chinese version is much easier to find that International version (which can currently be purchased only if you have an invite).
* Price is slightly higher for Chinese model since its being sold by reseller and not directly by OnePlus. For international units, OnePlus is directly selling them (no middle person).

The phone will come with CyanogenMod support for two years, a Cyanogen Inc. team member said on the OnePlus forums, and will pack Google Apps. Furthermore, buyers will have the option of doing anything to the phone when it comes to rooting, unrooting, installing stock Android or other custom ROMs without voiding the warranty. However, disassembling and/or “frying your CPU due to over-clocking will void your warranty” David said on Reddit.

QUOTE
from: http://bgr.com/2014/03/19/oneplus-one-desi...yleswap-covers/

“Engineers and designers spend a lot of time creating the specific look for a phone, but then people tend to cover it up with a case. Don’t you think that it’s a pity to cover up a beautiful device?” OnePlus CEO Pete Lau wrote. “We believe that the appeal and beauty of a device should speak for itself. Adding size and bulk to a phone for protection is a thing of the past.”

He further added that the designs “are durable and attractive, but still durable and strong.” Furthermore, some the StyleSwap covers will be made of their own respective materials, aside from the Silk and Sandstone versions. The company has also kicked off a contest on its Facebook page, with one lucky winner to be flown to Hong Kong to try out the back of the handset.

user posted image

In the recent weeks, OnePlus revealed the phone will not have a user-replaceable battery, while a design sketch of the phone exclusively obtained by BGR revealed the One will have a unibody design.

It’s not clear how the whole StyleSwap customization process is done, and whether the phone will come in some default color versions, which could then be customized by special case purchases. Also, even though the StyleSwap Covers are replaceable, it’s not clear whether the phone will offer users access to a microSD slot for expandable memory.

That’s just a bit over a month from now, but we’ve waited this long for all the official details, and I’m sure we can hold out just a bit longer. What we already know about the OnePlus One has us excited. Here are the early specs we’re told to look forward to:
* Qualcomm Snapdragon 801
* 3,100mAh battery with QuickCharge (charges to 75% in 30 minutes)
* 5.5-inch 1080p HD display
* 13 megapixel f/2.0 Sony EXMOR camera with 4K video recording
* Custom version of CyanogenMod with touchless controls

All of this is supposed to be coming to us for under $400, though an exact price point has yet to be formally determined. The OnePlus One is looking to arrive in Q2 2014, so prepare those wallets if this is shaping up to be a device you can see yourself walking around with.

What's interesting is that there won't be a 32GB version, as the One will be offered in 16GB and 64GB flavors. The larger storage option will come at a price close to what other companies ask for 32GB models, OnePlus notes. Rumored to be made out of metal, the One will also sport a notification LED.

The battery specs haven't been revealed just yet, but it did become clear the phone will last more than a day on a single charge. There's also a new and interesting technology, which it'll be utilizing, too.

The OnePlus One will be the only phone the company makes this year. It's also planning to double its size from the 150-employee company it is now. Those are very bold plans and we'll see how things pan out for the optimistic phonemaker.

The upcoming OnePlus One droid has made yet another appearance before its official announcement, paying the Antutu benchmark a visit. The most prominent member of the Cyanogen Mod team, the guys behind the handset’s ROM, shared a screenshots with its performance in the popular benchmark.

Even though the name of the device wasn’t explicitly confirmed, that fact the post was reshared by the official OnePlus account tells you everything there is to know here.

So now that we know what the device is, let’s focus on the score. 36,715 points is an excellent achievement, topping the Galaxy Note 3’s result even though the two handset share the same chipset – Snapdragon 800.

Obviously the CM ROM is somewhat lighter than TouchWiz and leaves some extra processing power at the user’s disposal.

As previously confirmed, the OnePlus One will go on sale in its first 10 markets in Q2 (which starts in less than a month). The pricing is confirmed to be below $400, but that’s probably before local taxes are applied.

note: its official that processor will now be Snapdragon 801 instead of Snapdragon 800.

QUOTE
from: http://liliputing.com/2014/03/oneplus-one-...in-q2-2014.html

The OnePlus One will be available in 10 countries at launch, including the United States. It’s expected to be sold directly to consumers for under $500. There are currently no plans to partner with wireless carriers, but the phone will be a GSM device that supports 4G LTE on AT&T and T-Mobile’s networks. It won’t support Verizon or Sprint, and there are currently no plans for a dual-SIM model.

We would like to thank all our suppliers. Without their support over the past few months, the OnePlus One wouldn't be possible.

recall one user said he had that. then turned on Google Chrome and max the brightness. within a day, gone...

the yellow part... explained before... could be due to:
* glue. if this is the case, then it'll go off after a while.
* hardware issue
* colour calibration by OS

hmmm... i think i put this on Page 1 later. done. added to Page 1.

so according to directd, it was flashed to cm11s in china? not by directd who 'resealed' it ar?
*
not easy to reseal since there is a brown box with string that you pull to tear open the box

i wonder how much the international version would be? probably a raise of RM200 due to the cyanogen logo?
*
QUOTE(Someonesim @ Jul 4 2014, 10:42 AM)
Maybe slightly higher, but I guess no point, China version can flash to CM no issue, and still retain warranty as OnePlus does allow user to flash custom ROM with warranty intact.
Somemore, why pay extra to get just the Cyanogen logo at back cover. Use the extra money on one extra back cover at your choice, now just waiting for OnePlus to start selling kevlar and jean cover  drool.gif
*
agreed. i personally dun need the logo. i can do without it. OnePlus marketing had said no front logo. so, might as well add: no back logo too. smile.gif

as for warranty... chinese sets... i guess as long as claim back in china, should be fine. if it's me... i'd even go on to argue that i could be working in China at one time, then now posted to (say, for example...) USA. don't tell me i can't claim warranty from USA...?!? smile.gif

Will incur tax issue in Malaysia???

My friend bought iphone5s from us and end up custom tahan....... vmad.gif  vmad.gif  vmad.gif

smartphones... no tax. the customs can stop and insist on SIRIM certification. from what i understand, it costs rm100 to get the thing certified. and you get 3 stickers (so you can bring in 3 units at that rm100 cost).

One of the design I love about OnePlus One is no logo at front, and the removable back cover consist of side, so if you swap the cover, the whole side and back change consistently. Only flaw in OPO IMO is too large ( both screen and overall size ), else I'll be holding it now.
*
hahaha... it's not TOO big la. you just need time to get adjusted to it. dun be so traditional la... hahaha... smile.gif

Not traditional la, my current N5 with 5", I'm having difficult time reach top of the screen, and I could just fit in jeans but if much larger phone will pop out like an idiot. I will not compromise by using phone with two hands ( no offence to anyone but it felt idiotic  whistling.gif  ), or wearing loose jeans or pants  mad.gif So NO to phone > 5" ( which we used to call phablet  rclxub.gif  )
*
hahaha... well, phones are getting bigger and bigger coz these days, they are not just for talking. smile.gif

but ya, totally get what you're trying to say.

QUOTE(DannyOP @ Jul 4 2014, 11:37 AM)
I agree it's too big for single handed use. Even gwailo Mkbhd review also need 2 hands.  They should learn from LG remove more bezels so it will be same size as a 5in phone but 5.5in screen.
*
agreed. i was hoping they'd somehow remove the bottom part that's used by hardware/ capacitive buttons. or at least make them smaller.

added the bug tracking and reporting for CM11S

Just fill out all the fields and click create.

what is the point of getting OPO when it's expensive?

the main point for OPO is cheaper phones, if you pay the expensive price, then it kinda defeat the purpose, no?
*
agreed. if going to end up paying premium price, might as well look at phones like s5, HTC One, etc...

i'm sticking to my guns and holding out till i get a good deal. <-- ironic to see TS/ OP without the phone yet... *sigh*

QUOTE(alexanderclz @ Jul 5 2014, 02:00 PM)
while the price is inflated here, for rm1239, it still has one of the best hardware at that price. not to mention the limited stock and all
*
yes, its good value if its at the original selling price. but after being inflated, the "attractiveness" (due to price) is no longer there. if its going to be around the same price as other flagships, might as well consider others as well...

unless 1+ is gonna sell phone directly to us in MY, we are not gonna be enjoying the price advantage.  Xiaomi should be commended for engaging the market directly.  A bit of a odd biz model but i am not complaining looking at the price they sell.

The only other flagship (and i mean those running Snapdragon... not MTK or Intel), is well over twice Xiaomi price.  1+1 looses its price advantage here due to importer.  The same goes with the Nexus line.  We are just not gonna enjoy the benefit unless the brand sell directly in the market.

i figure you can hold out until the price drop but by then you might move on to something new and the whole cycle starts again.  16GB Nexus 5 starts at RM1.5k.  its now 9mths old and the price is hovering above RM1.1k.
*
i'm quite sure their pricing will be competitive (similar to the launch countries). some of you guys are paying higher price... as you know... due to scalpers and middle ppl.

if OnePlus One comes to MY, i think they 64GB is probably going to be priced at about rm1.3k. we don't have tax for smartphones, so our prices should not be high like those in Europe. rm1.3k is about right... when we look at HK pricing.
