QUOTE(CubeLogic @ Jul 16 2014, 12:29 PM) Thinking 1+1 from DD or nexus five. hmmm going down kl next tuesday for 3 days should decide soon need help guys! depends... personally for me, having the latest version of OS isn't really my priority. i prefer an OS that has got some added 'bloatware', if it makes the phone more usable. and i am liking what i see with CM11S. QUOTE(Eddx @ Jul 16 2014, 01:18 PM) I guess this might have been discussed/announced, but now i guess the early adopters/supporter is getting invites without contest yes, it's sort of known now that their invites are getting easier to obtain -- meaning they are now faster to issue/ re-issue invites. some of us have already gotten the invites and used it (or given away).

just wondering...
do we need to uncheck "Update recovery with system updates" after we install a different recovery? i have flashed TWRP. i decided TWRP since the ADB sideload saved by "a55" with my note 2 just about 1-2 weeks back.

QUOTE(vin_ann @ Jul 16 2014, 03:55 PM) Want to ask, are SIrim sticker easy to get it? you don't want to go and intentionally get them. rm100 for 3 stickers. you can't ask to pay for only 1. you need to file some paperwork, i believe... so, pray you don't get stopped and asked to provide this.

i know its been mentioned b4, thought i'd mention it again...
backup and reset does not actually delete the files on the phone (like photos and videos). previously, it used to...
i guess the best way to do that is via recovery, right?

QUOTE(Someonesim @ Jul 16 2014, 04:19 PM) Better option is recovery if you had custom recovery already. 'Wipe data/factory reset' and 'wipe cache' only revert your ROM to default setting. ( Not same as factory reset in your ROM setting ) If want clean personal data, 'wipe storage'. It will wipe your 'user' portion of space ( those pictures/video/app data ) yes, recovery i know can. but i'm just surprised Android's Backup and Reset isn't really working properly. i think the same as well on my Note 2.

QUOTE(lanXX @ Jul 16 2014, 04:24 PM) Sorry for asking such a noob question but im new to android so pls help me..my fren said android need to be rooted..its like jailbreak for iphone right?question is, do i need to root my phone which runs on cm11? not necessary to root. root only if you have some apps that you want to run which requires it (like Titanium backup). otherwise, regular users don't need to root. without root, you can still install 3rd party/ non Google Play apps.

QUOTE(lanXX @ Jul 16 2014, 04:32 PM) Is there any disadvantages of rooting?will my phone still run on cm11? no disadvantage though some apps are picky about phones being rooted and having SuperUser... rooting can be done at "any" time. my advice if you're new to android. use it as it is... when there comes a time where u need to root, then root.

QUOTE(wackybeaver @ Jul 16 2014, 04:50 PM) small misinformation here; You will not get OTA Updates if you have a custom recovery. you will have to do manual update. You can however get OTA updates if you root it without installing a custom recovery. really? darn... i just installed TWRP. anyway, when you say manual update, meaning... download and flash? or can just click "check for updates". also... in such case... how to revert back to stock recovery?

QUOTE(Someonesim @ Jul 16 2014, 04:52 PM) It's same like jailbreak on iPhone, if you dont need then leave it. If you felt current status not able to satisfy and jailbreak/root can solve that, then you need jailbreak/root. won't really say same. i know many iphone users jailbreak just to install 3rd party apps. so, naturally, they think jailbreak = install 3rd party. on android, default without root also allows 3rd party apps.
