Hi guys. I'm posting on behalf of my Bro in law. Today his 408 car battery died. Since SC is closed and need to balik kampung, we went to outside shop to get it replaced.

SC sells Delkor 56077 right? Is there any problem with using Delkor 55530?

From the label, 56077 states 'Premium Silver Calcium battery' with AMP 60while 55530 states just 'Calcium battery' with AMP 55.

Most shops don't seem to carry 56077.

No problem bro. Although 5 amps less on paper, this battery should last as long as the original. How much was it?

It was RM340 before GST. My Forte comes with Delkor din 55 as well and it costed around rm3xx. So I guess that's an okay price.

Yeah that's ok. Although some have got it marginally cheaper. Next battery change, I recommend DIN 66. You can get one around $360 and it has 25 % more capacity. Which means it may last a year longer. It fits well into 408 battery box.

The SC told me that if I change the battery at outside, I still need to go back to SC to let them check & reset/program again the setting and it will be charged $120+... is this true/necessary?

That is true if the engine is stopped and battery changed. They need to reset factory default settings. A clever way around this is to change the battery with engine running.

As long as the car electronics are powered up the default setting remain in memory. With the engine running, alternator will provide the electrics, battery is non active. Removing the battery at this stage does not affect anything.
