Example 1:
Perdagangan secara talian kini merupakan satu mekanisme baharu dalam urus niaga tanpa sempadan. Banyak kesan yang mungkin timbul akibat urus niaga melalui sistem elektronik ini. Bincangkan.

Example 2:
Mengikut Laporan UNESCO, sejak tahun 1970-an, bekalan air bersih dunia didapati semakin berkurangan. Keadaan ini boleh menimbulkan beberapa masalah kepada manusia dan alam sekitar. Bincangkan.

You've to learn how to distinguish "ayat penyata/umum" and "ayat soalan". This is what my teacher told me.

For example 1 -

"Perdagangan secara talian kini merupakan satu mekanisme baharu dalam urus niaga tanpa sempadan." doesn't bring any clue that there's "kehendak" in the question. It's merely stating the issue.

While for example 2 -

"Mengikut Laporan UNESCO, sejak tahun 1970-an, bekalan air bersih dunia didapati semakin berkurangan." , there's a "kehendak" in this sentence, which is "didapati semakin berkurang" that indicates you have to answer the "punca-punca yang menyebabkan kedaan ini".

Same thing goes with "masalah ini menjadi semakin serius." You've to answer why (punca/sebab) the issue is getting serious, before answering the second "kehendak soalan".

However, since the example 1 only states "kesan" but not "kesan buruk" or "kesan baik", and there's no any word in the "ayat penyata" leads to negative/positive way, you should write both sides.

So both examples are 2+3 / 3+2.

Hope this helps and feel free to correct me if there's any mistake yawn.gif

Are you taking physics? When is your trial Exam? Mine starts on 29th September  shakehead.gif The earliest among all schools in Malacca (and Maybe in Malaysia?)

If you don't mind, can you share with me your trial exam papers? laugh.gif
*
Yes, yes I am. My trial commenced on the 22nd Sept. and ended on 25th Sept.

I will post them up here once I get them. Hope you're able to share your trial papers too. Anyway, here's a short recap on my trials exam:

22nd Sept- Mathematics T
-This is one of the most toughest paper that I've gone through so far. I cringed right off the bat after I failed to find the solution to the very first question that pertains to Polynomials. For the question involving Complex numbers for both Section A and B, I only managed to solve a portion of them due to the lack of time. Overall a horrible paper. In Section A, I only managed to completely solve a Matrices question and a few other sub-questions, as well as only a portion of a question in Section B due to time constraint. I'm sure that I will fail this paper, I don't think that I'll even come out with more than 20 marks.

23rd Sept.- Chemistry
-For this paper, I particularly start off with essay and it was fine until I realised I make a blunder or two in it. I had to redo the whole essay and I've already wasted roughly 10 mins for that. Another essay was fine, though I wasn't able to completely do the whole sub-question. As for the structured questions, I failed to answer a question about user posted image. For the second structured section, I only answered one and blanked the rest. As for objective section, I only managed to do 5 questions out of the total 15. Better than the Maths T paper, but, due to some blunders especially in the essay and due to the scarcity of time, I left most of the structured questions undone. I will mostly ended up failing in this paper too.

24th Sept.- Physics
- Just like Chemistry, I did the exact same order: Essay → Structured → Objective. I was able to complete the first essay question regarding uncertainties, but after the exam I realised that I made some errors in the sub-questions, so I lost some marks there. For the second essay question pertaining to Deformation of Solids, I was unable to answer a few sub-questions, but the horrible part was, I made a silly mistake when substituting the wrong values into the Young's modulus. Luckily I was able to noticed that mistake, or otherwise I could have lost 5 marks just like that. I redid it and wasted more time on that.

The second part of the essay was on Kinetic Theory of Gases. I lost tonnes of marks when it comes to defining the equipartition of energy, root-mean-square and another simple Physic terms. I wasn't able to complete several questions in the structured section, and again, I completed only 9 questions total in the objective. The paper was the easiest if compared to Chemistry and Maths T, but due to some mistakes in the essay section and the redoing part which was time consuming, I'm unable to complete most of my objective questions. Overall, it was badly done.

25th Sept.- Pengajian Am
-Structure section was the part where I reckon I can garner more marks. The questions regarding the Kewarganegaraan and Keahlian Dewan Negara was straight-forward. For essay, the only problem that I faced was giving only 4 points(2+2) in the second question. I managed to do only 6 questions in the objective section as I was running out of time. I didn't re-checked on how my essays were, so I might end up losing more marks than I can imagine due to some blunders. Overall, not as bad as Maths T and Chemistry, but I hope that I can get at least a C in this paper.

This is by far my worst performance ever in any of the exams that I have taken since in primary school. I will mostly fail my Maths T and Chemistry. I have no idea on how I'll score in both Physics and PA, but a C or C- for both subjects is all I ask for.

I will post every single STPM trial papers up here once I get my hands on them.

The Maths T paper might be easier for other people though. As for me, I lack enough preparation to face the style of questions posed in it. Some of the questions are not too tough, but we do need to go though lots of intricate calculations in order to solve them.

Usually in school exams teachers will require us to pass up our exam paper along with the answer sheet because otherwise students tend to "forget" to bring the papers/ lose them when teacher finish marking, return our marked answer sheet and want to discuss answers with the class.

Most of them are past year questions, or questions taken from reference books.

I've seen most of them lol.

Yup, after my trials finished, I was quite shocked too that some questions are directly taken from Oxford Fajar. The questions on determinant and the 3rd question about functions are also directly taken from another school's proficiency exam in year 2012. And I still fare horribly in the trials.

STPM.......something so scary I now still shudder thinking about it. sad.gif

But seriously, OMG I miss high school life, especially form 6 life. cry.gif

In university people prefer to be obsessed with their smartphones and beauty than to chat face-to-face. In high school, chatting face-to-face is your only option. biggrin.gif

Let's kick-start the solutions fiesta! rclxms.gif

Q1(a)

Let

f(x) = x⁴ − 8x² − 8x + k

g(x) = x² + 4x + 5

Perform the Polynomial Long Division

user posted image

From the factor theorem, if the polynomial f(x) has a factor g(x), then the remainder is zero.

k − 15 = 0 → k = 15

Q1(b)

We know that f(x) = x⁴ − 8x² − 8x + 15 has two quadratic factors:

g(x) = x² + 4x + 5

h(x) = x² − 4x + 3

Perform the Quadratic Discriminant Analysis

for g(x): b² – 4ac = 4² – 4(5) = –4

g(x) has no real roots and its graph lies strictly above the x-axis.

for h(x): b² – 4ac = (–4)² – 4(3) = 4

h(x) has two distinct real roots and its graph is the parabola opens upward (because a > 0).

Find the roots of h(x)

x = –(–4)/2 ± √4 → x₁ = 1 and x₂ = 3

Because the parabola h(x) opens upward, the range of values of x for which f(x) > 0 is

x < 1 and x > 3

Let the polynomial f(z) = z³ + mz² + nz + 10.

Say f(z) has a complex root, z₁ = 2 + i.

Because complex conjugates exist in a pair, the other complex root must be z₂ = 2 − i.

From the complex conjugates, we know f(z) has a quadratic factor:

(z − 2 − i)(z − 2 + i) = z² − 4z + 5

Perform the Polynomial Long Division

user posted image

Since z² − 4z + 5 is a factor for f(z), by the factor theorem, the remainder must be zero.

m + 2 = 0 → m = −2

n + 3 = 0 → n = −3

From the long division, the quotient (z + 2) is a linear factor of f(z).

Thus, the third root of f(z) is z₃ = −2.
