never use samsung before. so i dont know that the phone only can save to phone memory 1st. i've used SE before. the phone can save directly to mem card. it also can hot swap the card. beside some say, if we are playing mp3 and suddently take out the card, the card wont damage. just the player will exit outomatically. this is for SE phone. samsung i'm not sure about it. i think you should experiment wit it rclxms.gif

i heard that this phone has trouble install java application. all java app must be download. if we try to transfer using BT and cabal, the app cannot use.

haih....it's really hard to decide. all phone has pros and cons. wink.gif cannot get phone that really suite my interest. what to say, i'm really a fussy person blush.gif

ALL samsung phones have a policy of not letting you install java games the official way. Though, there are always ways (enter specifc code and specific programs) for almost every samsung phone to transfer games through BT or cable to it. However, we need to have both JAR and JAD file and game compability is also an issue, as some games works and some don't. But glad to say that i have some links for d900 games (qvga 320x240 size) and the know how and had successfully transfered and played games on my phone for FREE! smile.gif Samsung phones also have limited JAVA space of around 4MB. As for the pricing, i'm not so sure. Din went out to survey lately. Sorry.

@nicholas84

Old samsung phones such as e700 will ONLY autosave sent msg. As for the later d500, when sending msg, the 1st option is to save and send, 2nd is send only. But for d900, the sequence is reversed, 1st option send only and 2nd send and save. I guess it is up to personal preference and phone companies can't do anything unless they let you specify which option you usually use. As for me, it is a good change as i don't usually save sent msg so d500 was troublesome for me and d900 suits me more. smile.gif

it's ok. i dont play java game much. however i do want to install some java program such as opera mini and other usefull app. but if i need to download all the program, it really troublesome using gprs/edge. the data servis by our telco is not cheap actually. maybe i will subscribe digi unlimited plan if edge connection is good/fast wit this phone.

i think automatic save for sent sms sometime troublesome. like SE phone, it automatic. however if your sms reach it's limit, you have to manually selected which sms you want to delete. imagine 200sms!!!. other option is to delete all the sms. as LiNKInPaRk108 said we can select wheter want to save or not our sms. for me i think it is better that way.

It was one of the phones that I wanted to buy, but ended going for SE K800i

It has good size and slider form factor, build quality is great too. But functional wise it's worse than its Nokia and SE counterparts (N73 and K800i, respectively)

I'm considering to buy this D900 coz the way it looks. It is so different. How I wish the overall function could match SE and Nokia. I've been using k700i for quite sometime now. Not to mention, a SE fanboy. tongue.gif

If I got other choice, the upcoming w850i would be my pick. But it look too soft and the rounded keypad looks so childish.

N series? An all rounder. But it's a Nokia. Nokia = mainstream (no offence.. personal preference).

My dream phone equation = nokia (functionality) + SE (brand) + Samsung (looks)

hmm, quite a lot to name actually.
- 3G (as you said)
- Camera (Major difference is here I can say - although both are 3MP, k800i is admittedly better with bestpic and xenonflash just to name a few)
- Battery life. If you only enable GSM but not 3G, it can easily last 3-5 days under normal usage. I've been using my phone for whole day (one call, around 10 SMSes, took a few pics and navigated around) and it hasn't drop a single bar yet (91%)
- Radio
- Support USB 2.0 instead of 1.1
- Has speaker phone mode

of course I'm not saying that K800i pwns D900 badly just because I own one. There are something that K800i lack of, but available in D900
- Document viewer (PDF, words etc)
- TV output
- Slider form factor, lighter ,and thinner!

owh.. man if that your dream phone, sure you a lot fussy than me smile.gif actually i'm use to SE too. Use w800i for a while. i have dificulity to choose between this samsung and k800i.

what i like about d900
1. slim look
2. bright lcd compared to k800i

what i dont like
1. suspicious about the battery performance
2. no 3G

what i like about k800i
1. the camera
2. 3G

what i dont like
1. the design not nice, bulky
2. a lot heavier than d900

see... the pros and cons a equal. that is why i still in dilema unsure.gif

Let me clarify here that D900 indeed has speakerphone.

@ evilguy

All i can say is D900 battery life is longer than other Samsungs that i had used. Previously they are on the average near below 2 days. D900 lasts near above 2 days. Though, the screen is so bright i only set the brightness to level 2 and it is more than enough for me.

If you want the 3G model then wait for December as another 3 3G Ultra models will be coming to the market. I had mentioned this in the Ultra 9.9 topic.

@ lord

Definitely can use mp3 as ringtones. Samsung only limits 2 things all the while, only default sms tones and only vibrate then ring on calls. D900 has taken away the 2nd limitation and i think it's only awhile later that the sms tone limitation will be unblocked soon.

actually i dont need 3g yet now. so this samsung is enough for me actually. the sms tone also i dont really bother about it. i going to make up my mind to buy this one. smile.gif after raya maybe. k800i is good phone but the size... haih. dont really like bulky phone.

i think we should listen to LiNKInPaRk108 explanation about battery life since he used to samsung phone. maybe we, (i mean me sweat.gif ) never use samsung before. that's why so berhati-hati one. as old man said "not know then not love" tongue.gif english version of the malay pepatah.

Well, this phone's selling point is its sleekness and thinness.. that's all.

If only E900 can be this thin...
