No. Those are not true. Other Samsung ultra uses 630mAh batteries, while this one uses a 800mAh one. For me, it can last much more longer than my old Samsung d500. While the d500 only last me 2 days max on minimum use, d900 can last me 3 days. Hope this helps.

As for the memory card, i am currently using Kingston 512MB. Other forums had confirmed that kingston 1GB doesn't work on d900, sandisk does, so get a sandisk one, sandisk is more recommended (but harder 2 find in my case).

Actually, it is not the pics that are lousy, they are just image processing. Nokia and SE tends to process the pics to have more contrast and colour, thus making the pics look nicer to us normal consumers, but the imaging pros at GSM Arena had stated that d900 tends to maintain the most detail out of the pictures with less processing. We can make the pics more colourful by editing it in PC anyways.

Though, one must have steady hands even when autofocus is on cause the phone is so light we tend to shake our hands when capturing image.

@ evilguy

3 days is the maximum with only a few sms occasionally... normal usage with some calls and quite some sms, abit of mp3, video and camera playing can last me 2 days normally. I've attached some pics for your viewing. :-)

The QVGA screen is just totally amazing it melts your heart. Just look at the crisp wallpaper and especially the videos. Excellent LCD! smile.gif Though just 2.1inch, its quite big when blended to the phone.

Macro mode quite useless la actually, cause if a camera got autofocus it will focus on very close objects automatically, but don't get TOO close lo, about less than 2cm, the focus won't work. smile.gif

Haha... sadly, :-( a price to pay for showing off latest phone. I bought it around the first few days when this phone was available in Penang, Mid August. By that time normal phone shops were quoting 1700 mostly, but i got it for 1620. :-) Butit was worth every bit though, cause other 3.2MP phones were way over that price. ^.^ a.k.a p850 or SE k800 (which is so huge but with 3G though)

U can set it to be limited for MMS or unlimited, which is then only limited by the phone internal memory. As for self message tones, so far no Samsung phones have that yet, but d900 is the first phone to support vibrate and ring at the same time. Totally awesome... thumbup.gif

In the meantime, all Samsung phones can only directly save photos and videos onto phone memory and only can transfer to memory card later. Ringtones and Caller ID all have to be saved in phone memory to work. I guess it's because we can hot swap memory cards anytime and make the phone go crazy if it's operating and we remove the card suddenly. I wonder what will happen if i'm playing mp3 from the card and remove it during playback. Haven't got the braveness to try that yet. However, Samsung phones always have big internal memory. smile.gif

I bought it in Penang from my friend's relative. FMG of course. Current pricing i'm not sure, but from what i had surveyed from time to time, Penang lowest prices are about rm50 more than the popular phone sellers in this Lowyat forum such as Amedion and clareen. So, its more expensive to say. smile.gif

@ lord

AFAIK, all Samsung Ultra colour models are limited editions. Some are only available in certain countries and some colours are even limited to only a certain amount produced. However, black is still the most elegant one among all models. Though, the design of the red colour edition d830 is amazing. smile.gif

ALL samsung phones have a policy of not letting you install java games the official way. Though, there are always ways (enter specifc code and specific programs) for almost every samsung phone to transfer games through BT or cable to it. However, we need to have both JAR and JAD file and game compability is also an issue, as some games works and some don't. But glad to say that i have some links for d900 games (qvga 320x240 size) and the know how and had successfully transfered and played games on my phone for FREE! smile.gif Samsung phones also have limited JAVA space of around 4MB. As for the pricing, i'm not so sure. Din went out to survey lately. Sorry.

@nicholas84

Old samsung phones such as e700 will ONLY autosave sent msg. As for the later d500, when sending msg, the 1st option is to save and send, 2nd is send only. But for d900, the sequence is reversed, 1st option send only and 2nd send and save. I guess it is up to personal preference and phone companies can't do anything unless they let you specify which option you usually use. As for me, it is a good change as i don't usually save sent msg so d500 was troublesome for me and d900 suits me more. smile.gif

Let me clarify here that D900 indeed has speakerphone.

@ evilguy

All i can say is D900 battery life is longer than other Samsungs that i had used. Previously they are on the average near below 2 days. D900 lasts near above 2 days. Though, the screen is so bright i only set the brightness to level 2 and it is more than enough for me.

If you want the 3G model then wait for December as another 3 3G Ultra models will be coming to the market. I had mentioned this in the Ultra 9.9 topic.

@ lord

Definitely can use mp3 as ringtones. Samsung only limits 2 things all the while, only default sms tones and only vibrate then ring on calls. D900 has taken away the 2nd limitation and i think it's only awhile later that the sms tone limitation will be unblocked soon.

Oh my god the CK box in d 1st post is kinda cool... >.<

@ evilguy

Tuesday's Star newspaper InTech reviewed that k800i can only last for 2 days on normal use and 1 day on hardcore usage... OMG... If this is really the case then glad to say that D900's battery life is much more better! Cheers!

@ starbox

Almost all people say that k800's camera is way better than Samsung's. But i don't see much difference... Probably cause i'm not a hardcore camera user. Maybe it's the Cybershot logo that brain-washed people. But i gotta say that SE has more camera functions, though samsung lets us tweak things such as ISO that i think SE doesn't have. Correct me if i'm wrong. The bad side of d900 is that we have to hold the phone very still for a few seconds (around 2-3) in order to focus and capture the pictures, otherwise it will be blur. This is not good for spontaneous shots i'd say.

Ya the batt cover takes forever to open, as much force is needed and we don't wanna break this phone apart. Opening regularly is not recommended. For total darkness, the camera flash can only take bright pictures from a range of less than 50cm. ISO is just settings to tweak about. I usually set it to auto. As for night mode noise, i didn't really looked into it. Try looking at comparison review pics online.

AFAIK samsung ONLY uses MicroSD. =/

@ samurai1337

Samsung makes great sliding mechanism and crisp screens.

@ evilguy

Ur fren's prob seems 2 b firmware related 2 me. However i witnessed hardware probs. From experience, it's QUITE true. However, i don't know whether is it i'm just plain lucky, but flagship phones tend to last longer. The most fragile part is the flexi-cable inside. My flip e700's (flagship) screen gave problems abt after 2 yrs. Mom's slide e800's speaker starts 2 b troublesome after abt 1 yr caused by d cable. Bro's e760's keypad starts 2 hav probs nearly after 1 yr. Thankfully my d500 (flagship) was perfectly fine after more den 1 yr except for a more loosened sliding mechanism.

Yo guys..just got my self a D900....

but one thing is p!ssing me off is the contact book....

Any idea how to configure the contact book to display ONLY the phone book inthe mermory instead of both Sim and Phone memory?

I copied all my contacts from the SIM to the phone and now i have duplicate entries!  cry.gif

Samsung shows all contacts. No options available. You can use the PC software to modify/delete your contacts easier.

QUOTE(Acquiesce @ Dec 27 2006, 09:20 AM)
anyone knows how to configure that all SMS received directly save into the phone instead of the SIM card?  icon_question.gif

Nope. Not an option too. What i did was to create 20 (my simcard supports 2 only) empty messages and save them in the simcard. So whatever new messages that arrives directly goes to the phone.
