I've seen 1080p on 27" and 24", have to say 24" is much better. Glad I don't go for 27".
*
For me Full HD also shall stop at 24" as above it would be not enough sharpness.

Finish reading whole 70 pages.

Majority love Dell, me also but two times at the end I skip it. Haha! Always at the end I find something more value to get. Oops!
  • 1st time - look for Dell S2316H 23" IPS 1080p but it is glossy screen, end up pick BenQ 24" AMVA+ 1080p (EW2440ZH), reason it is matte screen and VA panel actually not bad, especially now miss it pure black.
  • 2nd time - look for better bigger IPS monitor, eyeing on Dell S2715H 27" IPS 1080p, end up pick ViewSonic 32" IPS 1440p (VX3209-2K), reason it is even bigger and most important QHD and against it is matte surface.

Nothing better to do, re-play Quake in QHD in my new ViewSonic 32" IPS 1440p (VX3209-2K) display. Haha!

Quake Original is MS DOS games release in year 1996. Maximum resolution is 640x480 and re-release by Steam and now playable in Windows.
Quake HD is fans make since year 2011 and it is updated to support up to 5k resolution with 3D acceleration render. Salute to those fans make it.

Current screenshot showing Quake Original (640x480 resolution) inside Quake HD (2560x1440 resolution).
Can't believe 640x480 resolution is that small. Wow!

Hi, anyone here using ViewSonic 32" IPS 1440p (VX3209-2K)?

What is the respond time you all set at monitor menu - manual image adjust?

Standard, Advanced or Ultra Fast ?

Hi All

Need some advice on getting a new LCD/LED monitor. Currently I'm using a DELL 24 and wish to get a bigger size. Looking to get a 27" or 32".

My budget max is RM1500. Any recommendation?
Usage is more for movie viewing and youtube smile.gif

Thanks
*
Maybe you can consider ViewSonic 32" IPS 1440p (VX3209-2K).

Hi andrewtst, the Philips Model is 323E7QDAB, it is part of their E-Line, Philips 32Inch Full HD IPS LED Monitor- 1080P/HDMI/VGA/DVI/1920x1080 smile.gif
*
Oh FullHD. Then not interesting already. FullHD I won't go more than 24".

For me FullHD shall maintain at 24" As the sharpness start reducing once it bigger than 24" for 16:9 ratio monitor.

This guy is explaining well of performance of 1080p in 24" and 27", see around 1.30 min of the video.
*
This video clearly tell the reason on my choice. No TN but only IPS or VA. QHD for 27" and above only, FHD for 24" or below and definitely not yet for 4K as everything will be too tiny even on 32" and it is over GPU power hunger for gaming, even though Windows 10 support better scaling but it still not quite right for certain apps. I only use 100% scaling (which means no scaling enlarge) as that is the most proper scaling in Windows 10

My basic choice now for monitor
  • 24" and 22" - 1080p FHD - VA+ or IPS panel.
  • 27" & 32" - 1440p QHD - VA+ or IPS panel.
  • 21.9 monitor - 34" WQHD- VA+ panel for curve, I think they is no IPS curve in market yet.
What I won't choose, TN panel, I don't care that advertise 1ms respond time because the TN output is bad even straight view, very suck when view from side.

The Viewsonic you are using comes with 2K and IPS panel right?

I believe it's pretty decent for it's pricing?

Of course if we were to up the budget, there are better monitors out there.

How much did you get it for again?
*
Yup. It is 1440p and IPS. You are correct off course they is still even better but not in this price range.

I find it is very value to me, others probably need RM 2k and above which is way too expensive to me already.

I bought at RM 1,249.00

how long have you been using this monitor? happy with it?

i was looking at this monitor for awhile now but instead waited to see what other monitor coming but all i see until now is disappointment of endless 1080p monitors out there or very expensive models costing RM2K all the way to RM4K  sweat.gif
*
Less than one month, I am very happy with it. It is outstanding to me. With that price very worth it. I am very picky on display quality but off course not picky until must pick the best but a very good is requirement to me.

I won't spend RM 4k for a monitor as that is too much already.

Just share differences of QHD v/s FHD in Windows 10 at 100% scale and layout.

You get more viewing space in QHD and fit nicely for side by side 2 webpage viewing. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

did you do any adjustment? i remember read back few months ago the colour is way off out of the box

im not expecting perfection too but at this price at this size and 1440p looks like a bargain for my usage

btw no other monitor like this viewsonic, dell 27inch already cost 2K++ and those high refresh rate cost too much..sucks with the lack of choices  sad.gif
*
Ya, I can't find any in similar price which is QHD also.

I do did some slight adjustment (I am more to cool setting, I don't like warmer screen).

By the way, below is my setting, I find this is the best setting (for myself)
  • Contrast - 65
  • Brightness - 70
  • Color Adjust - Cool (sRGB is too dull, Native is somewhere seems not correct, Bluish is way too blue and warm is too yellowish)
  • Viewmode - Standard (Others mode disable the contrast and brightness adjustment and the preset is way too bright to me)
  • Response Time - Advanced (I dunno what to set, so I put it on middle speed and based on some others ViewSonic model review, this is seems the best setting because they all mentioned Standard is not for gaming and Ultra Fast setting generate reverse ghost effect) Frank speak I can't really tell on each. Default is standard.
Below is the sample output of 2 monitors I own. Both taken using Samsung Galaxy S8+ and it is more blueish than actual due to S8+ camera issue. Original the sky is not that blue but instead more grey blue.

what gpu u using right now? u play games a lot?
i got gtx780..wondering if it can cope with 1440p resolution..
*
I am using laptop actually. The GPU is 6GB Nvidia GeForce 970m. So far no issue for all games in maximum setting except The Witches.

You may check the GPU spec see support or not. For example mine is maximum 2k. On 4k will die.

Any recommendation for 24" monitor ? dont prefer freesync and speaker
*
Depends on what is your budget.

If around RM 600, you may consider BenQ 24" AMVA+ 1080p 16:9 (EW2440ZH) VA+ panel monitor.

If around RM 1k to RM 1.3k, you may consider Dell UltraSharp 24" 1080p 16:9 InfinityEdge (U2417H) IPS panel monitor.
If you prefer 16:10 ratio instead of 16:9 ratio, then you may consider Dell UltraSharp 24" 1200p 16:10 (U2415) IPS panel monitor.

But for price RM 1.3k, anytime can get a 27" or 32" IPS monitor already.

I personally won't pick any TN panel because the display quality is very not good, some cheaper one is extremely suck.

I personally won't pick Dell S series as well because Dell S series is glossy surface which very reflection to light source.
