OH! geez, didnt know their customer service personnel are not professionally trained - or maybe its their SOP. Hmm, but the prices are quite competitive (in their website) vs. brian and whiteflash. As for JP, my bro just chose a flawless diamond, custom made his diamond ring to all things fancy - only 3ksgd+ quite affordable for flawless.

Anyone here knows does anywhere in Malaysia sell's temporary loose diamond holder? Thank you!
*
My heart diamond from JannPaul is also flawless.

after gain the knowledge on 4C and beyond, i notice there is even more way to justify the engagement rings. that really headache me!

i would like to know very simple question,
say 0.75-1 carat/ round shape/ VS1-VVS 2/color F-H
do you know what is the price range for Tiffany & co?

if said i have budget RM12k so any reputable jeweller in Malaysia to recommend?
*
Yea man. As what Master kambingkoh said, RM12,000 very hard to get a 0.75 carat liao nowadays. A year ago maybe, cuz our MYR was still *relatively* strong against the USD. Now you need to look at at least RM15,000 and above for 0.7x stones. I am talking about those with good cuts, not those anyhow cut ones with the H&A senget here and there macam kena belasah by the cutter.

As for Tiffany & Co., one word: FOOK IT! Ohh, that's two words, my bad. Why?

Thank you for your detailed explanation  notworthy.gif
I read your earlier posts and it did intrigued me, however I'm quite skeptical about buying it online.  blush.gif  Thanks though

Now I have another offer and would really like to ask for advices.
5182302471, RM4,700: 0.37 E VS1
2257071758, RM5,800: 0.40 E VS1

Halo with side band diamonds setting, RM3,200

Thank you very much
*
Both also E colour and VS1 clarity, how come the price differ so much one?? That's more than RM1,000 for the 0.03 carat increment bro! I believe there must be something not right with 5182302471; either that, or you silap put the price tag.

QUOTE(kambingkoh @ May 4 2017, 02:39 AM)
Should be around there la the price. Each 0.1ct will have a price jump. The 0.37ct is jumped to 0.4ct in this case. Between these two diamonds, the 0.4ct is actually cheaper for its carat weight, compared to the 0.37ct. The 0.4ct here is more like purchasing from WhiteFlash without any GST, while the 0.37ct here is more like purchasing from WhiteFlash but with GST. That's why i said 0.4 is "cheaper".
*
But you wrote you prefer the 0.37 one wohh. Like that better get a 0.39 to maximise carat weight haha.

Problem is dont have 0.39ct for me to choose... only 0.37ct and 0.4ct as provided.
*
No bro, what I meant is for him to try and look for a 0.39 to maximise carat weight.

Ohh my gods bro. Have you bought it??? If you haven't then better don't get Forevermark bro. I saw their diamonds before, totally not worth. You are paying more for the brand.

Ohh my gods 62.9% depth ahh bro???

Sorry to say that your diamond will not look like a 0.46 carat bro cuz of the deep cut.

So, it is not worth the price, but since your main criteria is brand, I guess that is where the extra premium goes.
*
I don't understand why he wanna go for the big brands and sacrifice cut. It is not like watches or handbags where people look at brand names first. Very seldom we come across people asking for the "brand" of the diamond.

Yes lahh, getting a Tiffany or in his case, a Forevermark for the future wife will make her feel good, but that's all about it. When she compares the bling factor with other super ideal cuts out there, I don't think she will feel good anymore.

In the case of that 0.46ct, I believe the cutter definitely knows what he is doing based on the crown and pavilion angle. But then in order to retain weight, he is not willing to sacrifice the depth because this would translate to lower carat, and lower selling price. It is pretty common in that industry I believe, but it is good that there are cutters that are more of a purists that would be willing to sacrifice on price to get better cuts. We jusy have to know where to buy such diamonds in order to make the most out of our hard earned cash.

I have seen a Forevermark diamond under various scopes. Fulamak!! Don't know how it made it to 3Ex man. Arrows all senget, light leakages everywhere, really facepalm.

I guess that's what you get when you self certify your stones.

As for your question 0.5ct small or not. Yes, it is small. 0.7ct? Yes, it is small too. So my advice is - don't sweat over small or big first, ask yourself, what is your budget, what level of cut precision you can tolerate? Now RM 10K is you budget, so stick with it and you will save yourself a lot of headache because your scope has been narrowed down.
*
Very sound advice from the pro.

rclxms.gif

beast_doadore What he said is true bro, you can't really compare the average diamond size between Malaysia and the US. They are earning USD bro, we are earning MYR here, so our purchasing power is very much diminished because of our relatively weaker currency.

It all boils down to your budget. You set a budget, then work out the 4Cs from there. If your initial budget is RM10,000, stick to RM10,000. Of course, plus minus a few hundred is fine lahh. RM10,000 can only get you a 0.5 carat stone, so what? My friend got his then wife-to-be a 0.33 carat ready-made ring from SK, and they are now happily married with one daughter.

QUOTE(kambingkoh @ May 19 2017, 09:07 AM)
Come share share what did Jann Paul say about evaluating Heart shaped diamonds tongue.gif

I am sure some bros will prefer something other than round brilliant.
*
The shape of heart shaped diamonds or generally, fancy shaped diamonds are more of a personal preference. Some prefer it to be slightly elongated, while some prefer a slightly plump shape. Unlike round brilliants whereby they have a set of strict requirements, fancy shapes do not. This is because the stone is cut for its shape and not to maximise brilliance. As long as the viewer finds it sparkly and likes the shape of the cut, then he/she is fine.

In particular for heart shapes, JannPaul recommend the slightly plump version, or what they call the "happy heart". It does give the illusion that it looks bigger carat for carat compared to an elongated heart.

In terms of the 4Cs, it is advisable to get 0.5 carat and above and not less than F VVS. As heart shapes do not have as much light return as rounds, body colour and inclusions cannot be masked as easily. This I have to agree with them cuz I personally compared a F colour and a G colour heart shaped diamond, and the difference is very much distinguishable even under LED lighting.

So there you go folks. My humble findings on heart shaped diamonds. Hope this helps you guys in searching for your own fancy shapes.

Thank you for the info bro. I'm in dilemma my gf likes Love and Co. and I felt their signature solitaire ring is overprice . She love the package; crystal box ,feels the diamond shinier and she claims that her heart beats faster seeing the ring in Love&co. Really very indecisive . Shall I end up with a smaller carat Love&co or bigger carat and better spec elsewhere. My budget ~RM8kšŸ˜”

I am sorry, but I seriously LOLed at that.
