worth upgrading from r9 280x?

i just placed an order at lelong, didnt pay yet though

original plan was to sold my r9 280x first, but this r9 290 is so tempting, cant wait no longer, will find a way to clear it later

Both essentially offer the same level of performance, with 280 excelling on some games, and vice-versa for the 760. Go with the cheapest that you can find.

And yes, the Tahiti based GPUs are known to overclock well.

What resolution are you playing at? At 1080p, R9 280X is more than enough. I don't really see the point of going for such upgrade.

Yes bro the 290 is a clear step up. But depends in your luck. I know two guys who have bought it, one had driver issues straight away while another has been chugging away happily.

That 290 PCS+ is a real nice upgrade though. But seriously sell your 280X first. If not you'll be stuck with two cards. Very hard to sell the 280X now unless you let it go ridiculously cheap.


280 is a good card. I suggest you get it due to its price/value. But again, at RM300 more you'll able to get a nice 280X already. Or even a GTX770 Phantom.

Sell the 280X and grab Gigabyte GTX780Ti GHz Edition..

hi guys. i'm thinking of changing my rig from m-atx to atx. so i need some suggestions on what casing and mobo should i purchase.

my budget is rm600 for both. for the casing, i would like to have ample spacing for cable management and good airflow. as for the mobo, i won't be doing sli/crossfire and won't be overclocking any of my pc parts.

any suggestion? tq.

First, before you jump the gun, why do you want to move from m-ATX to ATX? Is it because you lack the necessary expansion ports (e.g the PCI / PCI-E x1 lanes)?

primarily because i wanna have better spacing for the cables. and somehow i think the pcie x16 and x1 is too close together.
