You can't. Unless you get something like a Mixamp and TurtleBeach chat cable to split both inputs. Very costly of course.

Otherwise, the Gold Headset is your option. It sounds comparably worse on all fronts than the M50 though.

It's a little bit more complicated than you think.

The issue is, the PS4's controller only allows the user to either send chat audio to the headphone or game audio, not both simultaneously.
So splitting the connection to the controller would just result in either you getting game audio or chat audio, whichever you select. You can't select both simultaneously. Why? Ask the idiots at Sony. The PS3 allowed this, but not the PS4.

There is another work around which you will have to perform every single time you start the PS4 though, much cheaper than getting a Mixamp and TB chat cable.

Step 1: Turn on PS4 and connect up one of these USB audio devices (I assume a USB mic will also work the same way, though I haven't tried one yet).  Let the PS4 recognize it and assign it to your profile if it asks you.

Step 2: Plug in a pair of headphones to the controller (or any 3.5mm jack, even an empty adapter works, as long as it isn't the headset that comes with the PS4 or anything else that will get recognized as a mic).

Step 3: Unplug the headphones (or whatever 3.5mm connection you used) from the controller.

Step 4: Enjoy chat audio coming from your headphones while being able to use a mic off the USB!

I personally don't chat anymore on the PS4 as my preferred setup was to clip a bluetooth headset onto my shirt and pipe all audio into my headphone like on the PS3. So until Sony fixes this, no chatting for me then.

too bad . my main purpose was to chat with people. cause currently i'm playing Destiny (like everyone else) and Battlefield 4.

So, you could probably imagine how helpful it would be for me to chat doh.gif

I understand. You can try the workaround with the post I quoted. Those USB adapters are dirt cheap anyways, if it doesn't work then decide if you wanna get a Gold headset or not.

I have been testing the Kingston HyperX Cloud for the past week (Qpad QH90) and I've been thoroughly impressed with how well the Cloud has performed over a vast selection of sources.

The bass has less kick and immersiveness than the similarly priced Creative Aurvana Live and to me that can be a good or bad thing depending on the source. When a source requires bass (many SP or action movies), I do like the CAL more but at the same time, the more linear bass on the Cloud is definitely a better fit to when I'm playing FPS or any sort of games that requires good audio positional cues. Though I do want to note that bass frequency do change depending on what earpads are being used, the leather or velour earpads. More on this in a bit.

Mids are recessed, but not overly so. The Cloud has a mild "V"-shaped signature to its overall sound and in comparison the CAL is more liquidy and upfront on the mids. The Cloud, fortunately doesn't get fatiguing to the ear with vocal heavy games or movies however. The missing details in the mids will put a setback on many genres of music generally. The treble has enough energy, though I would like a little more extension but thankfully they are consistent and well controlled without suddenly inducing a fluctuation of sibilance.

While the Cloud may weigh in at 350g, which by many headset standards is slightly on the hefty side, the rather wide headband does well to equalise the weight distribution and it really doesn't actually feel like 350g. The leather earpads does a seriously good job with blocking out noise while the memory foam velour pads are a good option for those who simply can't stand leather or is against using animal product.
Speaking of the pads, both pads do give a slight but noticeable change to audio quality of the Cloud. The leather earpads has more kick on the bass (logically correct) but also produce a slightly brighter treble, which does make the Cloud V-shaped sounding. The velour on the other hand is flatter on the bass and the soundstage do open up a little, causing a more U-shaped sound signature to the Cloud. So do experiement around and see which you like best.

So audio quality wise, the Cloud is pretty darn good. Comfort? Damn good too. But really makes the Cloud a winner? The price. Seriously, RM300+ gives you a good headset with a decent mic, GENUINE leather pads (yes, real cow skin) and memory foam velour earpads.
The fact that the Cloud can also be used with consoles as well with a few simple workarounds makes the Cloud the best RM300+ headset I can recommend today, bar none, period.

The COP has more bass emphasis (on the assumption that the vent port is on its standard setting), it's definitely more impactful and the sound is overall fuller. Depending on how much you can get the COP at, if it's at RM500 or so then I'd say go for the COP. But RM800 is a hard ask when I personally think the AKG K612 Pro is a better headphone overall at a similar price (unless you absolutely need a closed can).

I was reading past a few pages and seems like no one talks about the Sony Gold wireless headset...umm, is it good for gaming at that price? I'm new and wanna invest on a good headset that will make it for a long time to come with great quality. Budget perhaps up to RM500, depending on its worthiness. Priority is gaming first, the rest secondary. Thanks!

Yeah, best that it's hidden. But not sure if that affects the quality. Sorry, I'm not familiar with headset :/

Way too damn quiet in here. Time to start something.

Creative's Soundblaster X7 is now out, for a whopping $400... but, for this week only it is $120 off! So $280!
http://us.creative.com/p/sound-blaster/sound-blaster-x7

For those wondering, it's basically an external ZxR with class D amps for passive speakers. But it's also that one item to play it all sort of niche, you can use it for PCs, consoles and even mobile devices. Versatality wise, it's unmatched.

Thinking of getting it, but I don't need the amp for speakers. Wish Creative would make an X5 or something without the class D amps.

Otherwise right now, it's the best option for gamers who wants virtual surround and has a lot of devices.
