Hi nicety,

Did a quick test this morning on hookup of the Q16. Got a problem.

The connection is HDMI output of the Q16 to Marantz SR-7009 receiver.

I see video, but there is no audio..sad.gif Must have a wrong setting somewhere and tried various changes under setup.

Would appreciate if your assistance in trouble shooting.

Thanks.

A followup on the above issues. Found out the error was on my part.

Carried out a test with a new HDMI cable at the front HDMI port of the Marantz SR-7009 receiver with the Q16 and got both video + audio working now. rclxm9.gif Thanks to nicety for the trouble shooting tips and helping me - great support. thumbup.gif

Will be testing out the Q16 with the rear ports of the Marantz SR-7009 receiver and then play around with the apps to get familiar with the user interface.

Thank you for the follow up update bro.

Would be appreciated if you could share the online streaming experience(kodi/showbox) from Hong Kong, just wondering the streaming will be better in Hong Kong.

Dear Customers,

The pre-installed HD Cinema has been taken down, the app won't work anymore. Unfortunately, this is one of the best app with smooth HD streaming.

Good news, found the way to use online subtitle in SKYHD :

1). When SKYHD prompt the below screen, pls choose custom.
Attached Image

2). Choose MX player or Kodi when it prompt for the player to select.

3). If you choose MX player, at the top right corner you found MX Setting, select subtitle

4). choose online subtitle as per below screen. To be noted online subtitle features only available in latest MX Player, if your MX player do not have this feature pls upgrade to latest MX player from Google Play Store.

5). Search subtitle by the movie as below.

Note : the above is shared by one of the customer who do not wish to disclose his name. Once again, thank to all customers that always share the tips here.

yes, subs now work with mx player, thanks!

i watched a couple of movies on this skyhd.

no doubt they are "heavily ripped" ones and most of them appear 480p to me but this app is:

.. easy to use
.. fast loading
.. reliable
.. offers very new movies (webrips)

so, for less than star blockbusters, this is an excellent site! thumbup.gif

Since you ask about buffering & caching, let me share some knowledge here.

Why streaming require buffering ?

Buffering is designed to improve the streaming experience; when streaming over Internet, the data provisioning is not consistent as internet only running on best effort basis. Without buffering, the streaming will be choppy or temporary pause when internet connection disrupted. To overcome this, the streaming app will hold the upcoming content which to be consumed by viewer later when connection disruption. Buffering a stream helps work around any inconsistencies in the data flow while streaming content. The buffer may also contain recently viewed content for fast rewinding. Cache is an allocated data storage space that contains buffered information that the viewer is likely to use or already used.

Why my app show "Cache is full"?
Some streaming app use DDR memory as buffering cache, some use the flash memory(EMMC/NAND) as the buffering cache. Majority of the streaming app are cached in memory, due to limited DDR memory space, the cache size will be small, too small cache size will cause streaming choppy or pause when there is serious connection disruption or throttling. To increase the caching size, some app allow to cache in local disk/flash memory(EMMC/NAND). For example, Kodi cache is configurable as below :
http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Modify_the_video_cache

When the cache size configured too small, the cache will be full and streaming became jerking and lagging. To enlarge the cache size, change the cache to EMMC flash instead of use DDR RAM to cache.

P/S : Not all streaming app has configurable cache setting, majority of the app are hard coded except Kodi.

How to clear cache in Kodi ?

If you install Kodi from TVADDONS.AG, there are some preinstalled maintenance tool to help you to clear cache file. If the tool does not work, then you may manually delete the from from the below path :
Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/temp/

How to fully utilize the caching in Kodi when your internet slow ?
When the internet data provisioning is slower than streaming, don't rush to watch the movies. Click the PAUSE to pause the movie and let the buffering to cache for about 20%-30% then only click play to start your movie from beginning. The streaming will play back the media cached locally at the same time the buffering will continue cache the next 20% of the streaming.

P/S : Please don't assumed Unify will never slow. Unify commitment is within Malaysia only regardless of 5MB or 50MB, majority of the streaming content servers are located at oversea. TM do not have big pipe to oversea and not guaranteed your UNIFY in oversea.

which device r u referring to?

as newer and bigger apps become available, the memory becomes even more impt.

in my experience with q16, it has been good for all the apps i use.

kodi has buffering issues sometimes but i believe it is not due to the device hardware.

others like popcorn, q16 can take even a 6gb video, excellent.

all small apps incl mobdro, skyhd, tv2.0 - piece of cake for q16. biggrin.gif

i dunno anything about that device but from the specs, it should be close to q5ii which i hv as well.

q5ii is not bad, but yes, it does not play kodi that well, can't take popcorn and other big apps. but it is still doign a great job with smaller apps.

q16 is quad core, much bigger memory as big as u can get in the market now, i believe.

as to whether it will fit yr needs, nicety can surely assist you. wink.gif

like to inform kodi users...

there is a good addon called iptv stalker u must try.

it is found in superrepo, so if u already have it, u just need to enable it from the list.

you will be pleasantly surprised with the sports channels, some in hd. rclxms.gif
